Somebody did an iceberg video about old / forgotten GW minis, such as “Goblin dumping in a helmet” and “Ostrich Man”.
Rogue Hobbies
I really want an original round dreadnought for my collection, they're so cute.
I just picked up an original chaos dread for a steal of a price. Going to paint him Thousand Sons. I love getting classic minis like this even though I'll never be able to put full army of them together.
"3D printer go brrrrrr"
@@thejonathan130 true but there's something about the old metal ones lol
Now that would make Warhammer + worth it. Each year one of the high quality busts, that way it does not effect people playing the game but is very unique to their service.
A fun way to redo a Santa themed model would be to do either logan grimnar or ulrik the slayer. The white beards, Ice snow planet, and the chariot for Logan make it so easy
Wood elves have some guys riding deer.
Love the little dissected scarab , I bought tau kill team when I started painting mini's again , I used some tau parts to create a few joke bases for the ork unit I bought next , I have 1 ork wearing tau helmet and another ork with some tau equipment and a freshly chopped off arm at the feet of that ork with a bloody sword in his hand
My favorite types of videos you do are painting random older models. Love it! Hopefully you get some of these to paint!
yeah the 80s and 90s had some really great models for every range. i personally like the wizard snake holding a luger pistol, i picked up a lot of over 200 metal minis all dated in the 80-90s for 200$ at an estate sale. Ive seen them listed as the "snakes of wrath". Its always fun to see something kool from every company
it's more recent (2019) but there were official transparent resin versions of Frodo and Bilbo to represent them wearing the Ring
Love seeing old models I would not know of otherwise
This is one of those videos that showcases why this channel is so great. Just the passion and enjoyment about these crazy weird models some dudes were cooking up in the 70s and 80s, and 40 years later we get to share the fun. Love it :)
I'm sure you already know what you're doing for the next few months for your monthly terrain, but in the future it would be super cool if you made one that's a diarama for your templar, maybe like their base or something
Space Santa is actually Canon to Necromunda in the form of Phanta Claws!
Wizard with a machine gun is the literal definition 10th psychic phase he literally Casts gun 💀💀💀💀💀
This is so strange. I just bought the space skeleton off of Facebook not a week ago. He had contacts in Games Workshop, and he had a lot of exclusive Forgeworld and Games Workshop stuff.
I have the Chaos Ninja Zombie Dwarf and I've always been a fan of the Talisman Chainsaw warrior. I still have a few skellies still on card that have the hex bases and I have the old ninja with blowgun.
I was waiting for the Nurgle Toilet mini to apear in this video
White Dwarf/Citadel used to have its own heavy metal band .It was fun back in the day.I have a sprue of the Emprahs Spacy Mariines beakies plus original necrons and other bits and bobs .Like the bowmen of Bergerac and all but 3 of the dogs of war
The complete adventurer, first edition from the early 80's is a blast, the Up The Wall crew, inconvenienced(?) Dwarf, Wizard with chainsaw, Kindly wizard, Dwarf with inferiority complex .... there were just so many!
Thrudd the barbarian
The dissected scarab was from GW Store events in 1998. Games Day 2003 was all about hyping up the release of Codex Witch Hunters.
Good memory! God I'm old I started with rouge trader beakies and old og ork and imperial guard lol
@@wasterdnb I only remember because it was the only games day I've attended and where I first fell in love with the Sisters of Battle.
I have a paper catalog from GW from 2004 and it has absolutely everything ever made from 04 and before, it is enormous and will never leave the collection
The figs are great. And I have owned a "Space Skeleton" since it's creation. But no-one seems to care about the Plinth Base that the Epic Space Marine is mounted on! Those things were great!
That epic space marine makes me want an in world Space Marine sprue. A guardsman or tech priest at a hobby desk with an old school space Marine sprue on the table, maybe? 😂
I was wondering where the space skeleton was from. When i was working at a cell phone store, my buddy and I were working and talking warhammer. One customer overheard, and next time he came in he just dropped 2 baggies of misc metal minis. I got space skeleton, the white dwarf (one with him with booze in his helmet), a few neat minis from hasslefree and some still unidentified! Was such a cool random event haha
WOAH never even knew Gamesworkshop had busts. The Tyranid ones gorgeous.
I totally love orks, and I missed out on ONE! ork model--the forgeworld ork fighta traktor. The FW ork fighta plane doesn't have landing gear, so logically, it had to be transported by a tractor with a trailer on the airfield. FW made a trailer to hitch up to the old Gorkamorka tread (the bike with tank treads on the back). That was it. It was just a trailer. But I want one so bad!
One old one I had to track down when I found a picture of her was Klotilde Ironface (1985).
Where do you think Sly Mabmo and Mad Donna came from? Other than the odd John Blanche miniature we never see what's in the personal armies of the Games Workshop studio staff, just the studio armies... I bet a lot of the whackier special characters started out there.
Also Lionel Johnson (A poet who's known for the poem The Dark Angel), Russ (Lord Lucan) and Grazghul (Margret Thatcher), Also the Rainbow Warriors (after the Greenpeace boat)
Imagine your Imperial space marine statue as a Imperial fists. It even adds up with a pose of defending position.
Also you will not go much away from your sons of Dorn.
Wow that's actually a forshadowing of Kurt Russel's Santa movies at 2:26!
Its an eye patched Snake Plisken Santa!
that sci-fi santa model belongs so much to a deep rock galactic dwarf team
Space skeleton really reminds me of the Gardens of Hecate stuff.
That is what I like about the D&D Frameworks line of miniatures. Each sprue comes with extra bits for world-building.
The Warhammer Fantasy Halfling Hot Pot Catapult will never not be funny to me.
It's such a dumb little vignette of a model, one halfling cook pointing and shouting at his apprentices who are struggling to arm a pot of boiling stew in a giant slingshot haphazardly mounted into the ground.
It reminds me of my moms cooking too.
Wizard with machine gun and spaceman skeleton!! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!
love looking at the old models also
The old metal Big Mek With Shok Attack Gun is a super dorky one.
Wizard with a machine gun - NO saving rolls allowed. 😂
Good video mate
I’ve always loved the snotlings and nurglings flying the middle finger flag!!
The 1st Rat Catcher, from WFRP. A classic!
10:00 THIS like it would be so cool for baseing like a ork arm necron head etc just to make it really look like a battlefield
Weirdest old model I ever saw was a dwarf wizard. Presumably the modern dwarves exiled them all over a grudge.
I don't really have GW nostalgia (beyond the og metal terminator captain, I still want one of those!) as I was more of a Ral Partha guy. But between five to ten years ago a friend gave me a bunch of his old figures and amongst them is one I just fell in love with: Space Marine Death Guard. I just love their little grinder/sword weapon and wish GW would bring *that* back.
There was a cool one called the complete adventurer , he had huge backpack with kitchen sink hanging off it
Nice nostalgic video
I like how the first two models, the wizard and santa, could be great proxies for the Leagues of Votann, or at one point the Squats haha
I had one of the forgeworld epic space marines. He’s on reconnaissance somewhere but I can’t find Hume so he’s doing well.
I still do have the forgeworld Abbaddon statue from the eeearly days of FW. It’s about a foot tall or so, and I got it from a friend who worked at GW at the time. I’ve never painted it.
The skeleton astronaut is really cool.
That wizard would work as an inquisitor, I reckon. Red robes, black hat. ✌😄
Do you remember the clear fallen gigant template ?
It had something that looked like a 3ed "leg", when I saw it painted up in a games workshop in Nottingham in 2008, they had flocked over that part to hide it
Did the flock colour match the hair colour? :-D
remember when eons of battle sayed that he would make akill rig with a trukk instead of the squig for his mad max furry road army
I still want those old Space Frogs.
Back in the 90's GW worked with the Bulldog Belt buckle Company to make truly amazing buckles and pins for 40K and fantasy factions. I still have the Ork buckle and pin along with the Lizardmen ones. The Ork buckle is so spikey you have to be careful when bending over.
People should checkout Knucklebones Miniatures if you're a fan of the Wizard with a Machine Gun or the undead astronaut. They made a really good nod to both mini's and have a solid old school charm to their entire 3d printed range.
I have a FW resin statue of Asurmen and it is hands down my favorite terrain piece that I own
Oh, also, re: that space skeleton: you might check out Die Hard Miniatures "Skeletal Spacemen unit" because they have a similar vibe.
This wizard would totally fit into 10th Edition - he totally casts gun
I’m trying to find their very first models. Not to buy, but to see them. The information on the internet is either vague or each site has a different answer.
The space skeleton has been remade by Tim Prow at Diehard Miniatures.
you should have more videos like the drop pod one building and painting random miniatures
I like how in the details for Obiwan it says "He wears a suit of skin tight powered armor" and all I'm picturing is a latex outfit under his jacket. -.-
That nid statue busting through the wall would be awesome if it was scaled down a bit and paired with a Spacemarine Terminator statue about to stomp on it's head.
Zulu was A G w chaNg ER 2 PW r
Kruellagh the Vile for the dark eldar is a favorite of mine for the old minis.
Always loved the white dwarf model and the riverboat dwarf skirmish in the white dwarf magazine
Have you anymore Legion or Shatterpoint content coming up ? Loved the last couple videos!
Eons of Battle is the remembrancer for early miniatures. 😄
Gundalf is a legend.
8:20 Paint a poster boy, I'd love to see your recipe
The best old Citadel Models have to be the Corrupt Throne of Chaos, the Dwarf with Inferiority Complex and the Halfling Cavalry...
These aren't GW, these are first draft Scooby-Doo villains.
Anything from Inquisitor is a hoot imo…just the weirdness of the scale is appealing to me.
Bought the epic scale marine at games day alongside the giant night goblin bust.
You can imagine my disappointment when I lost the epic marine.... xD
I have a Space Santa somewhere in my old collection.
Can you do an overview of space marines model history, 1st to 10th edition?
9:00 would have been a great plug for Patreon 😊
Those forgeworld statues were pricy back in the day. Did see the tyranid one back then but at 60 dollars back it was the equivalent of two space marine squad box. Still did get the lizardman temple guard on sale then. Still unpainted but on the shelf.
I would 100% buy one of the assembly epic marines
1:37. It looks like if Sly Stallone was cast as Gandalf.
Wizard with sub-machinegun would have been a banger of a W+ mini instead of generic Kasrkin soldier....
Oh man Obiwan Sherlock Clouseau was only 60 pence!? What a deal!
GW and 40K need to bring back that punk rock/counter-culture mentality.
They are sooooooo plain vanilla now.
ye, it's all a game after all and shouldn't take things TO seriously, that takes the Fun away and it's not that with some additional Models all the rules fly out of the window
I mean, that's whats almost killed the railway model industry (after the steep prices) and yet, there is a small manufacture that does some little fun sets and addons for your railway besides the normal kits and trees etc.
Also, "having fun and place eastereggs" is what made the largest modelrailway in Hamburg so succesfull and now a reason people travel there, because they want to see them in Person
Ill Gotten Games make excellent space skeletons called Risen of M'org. I use them for my undead warband in Space Weirdos and other similar skirmish games.
I used to have a chaos santander, also wish i still had the most edlgelord chaos guy ever ,kaleb daark, I had the figure on foot and mounted on his horned carnivorous horse
Kind of feed up with grimdark! Give me saturated colors, Goblin green baserim and funny whacky models!!!
Paint a death company Blood angel for your big space marine statue
Bigmrtong has a whole line based on the space skeleton that are perfect match.
You should make your Space Marine statue an Imperial Fist. Totally different from the Black Templar. 😸
I have the squig hopper from the FW big range
The weird creatures on the Cities bases kinda work like random excenticity.
Just FYI - @ 7m 46s "chitin" is pronounced with a hard C; staring with a "Khy-" sound instead of the heavily implied from the spelling "Chi-" sound.
The old Forge World busts and statues are so rare, it is like they never really existed and impossible to even find any evidence of.
52p
I want to paint my Wizard with a machine gun to look like Gandalf the Grey but I just can't paint that miniature.
Not that obscure but I still have a lovely of the original snotling pump wagon from '87.
You should make a librarian thats a wizard with a machine gun
The pewter scarabs weren't a swarm. Each model was individual on the table.
Not so much a model but I have a dwarf belt buckle they made.
Ah, back I the day when there were beautiful hand sculpts, zany ideas, comedy. Not dull, overly detailed digitally designed minis from a soulless company. That's why I've reverted to oldhammer
Wizard with a SMG ,i will blow U back into the Stone age
would like a thunder warrior model.
