- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- This week on Intentionally Blank, Brandon Sanderson and Dan Wells talk about their 2023 New Year's adventures and what they got up to. Brandon became a real-life Knight Radiant in the Grand Cayman Islands, Dan almost was poisoned by the ocean, and the food heist has a Breaking Bad level amount of meat.
Check out our previous episode of Intentionally Blank: • The Infamous Ice Cream...

The place where a ship is controlled is called the bridge, controlled by the "Conning Officer," otherwise known as "The Conn." The wheel itself is known as the helm. Naval terminology of the day!
Robert Irwin! Steve’s son is an absolute delight, and pretty dang knowledgeable. No ghosts needed.
Master and Commander…. A perfect movie. That would’ve won more awards if ROTK wasn’t also up for recognition.
As a fan of LOTR I felt so bad for Master and Commander, it’s such an epic movie
@@ptrickthepat So epic. I was pleasantly surprised when watching it again several years ago that every shot of the film looks like a painting. Its just beautiful. I always keep it at the forefront of my mind as one of the most beautiful movies visually that I've seen.
The books are also one of the best historical fiction series ever written
I wish Adam would share all the midjourney things he makes for them.
Adam could have an episode like they do on "last week tonight" where he shows us random images and we don't get much context. Could be really entertaining.
Brandon was glowing but it was actually because he was highly invested!
I know it adds extra time, but could you show any images that are mentioned? This has been done before on other episodes. Would greatly appreciate it. Love the episodes 🙂
There's a link in the description.
@@watcherofwatchers There’s a link to the food heist, but not the AI images Adam was generating during the episode.
I am so grateful these two amazing authors do this for us! Being a fly on the wall listening to their conversations is the greatest privilege!!! I look forward to this every week 🙏🙌❤️👍💝
Items on a desert island, but only if they can't get you off of the island. I want a coconut tree and the Professor from Gilligans Island, because he could make ANYTHING from coconuts except things that would allow them to escape.
If you go back to the Cayman, I highly recommend checking out Smith's Barcadera. It is a state park and almost never visited except by locals. 2 hours of snorkeling and less than 6 people there.
The 365 secret novels parody video could come true! Go, Brandon, go!
2:50 missed the chance to say "book 'em, Brando"
The Purelake!
I went on a very similar excursion in Grand Turk, but we made conch salad with salsa and cool ranch Doritos in it instead of ceviché. It was pretty good.
Maybe swimming with Sting Rays with Steve Irwin is a bad idea…. Too soon. 😭😂
Swimming in a bioluminescent bay is an awesome experience. I lived in Puerto Rico for a couple years and there is a bioluminescent bay there. Any time someone mentions visiting PR I tell them to check it out.
Steve Irwin, I think, would appreciate your acknowledging the beauty and danger of the natural world.
Ooooo, that's a stroppy one!
Of course Brandon Sanderson would opt to write even in a dire, survival situation. Island Project 1 to 8.
A relative of mine used to teach Steve Irwin way back when he was at school. Apparently his dad Bob would rock up all the time to take him out of class to go on animal-related adventures. Cool family!
This one ended up wonderfully surreal. Well done everyone involved.
Yall are two good rolemodels that im glad to have. I met Dan on a cruise unexpectedly. Didn't even know i was on the writing excuses trip.
The direct satellite to smartphone connection is hopefully coming soon. AST SpaceMobile and Starlink are both working on their own tech. That would really help reduce/eliminate the issue of being stranded with no way to communicate.
The day Brandon mentions a Kamehameha!
When I lived in LA, one of the best cultural crossovers was oxtail pho. Freaking amazing.
And I've had conch ceviche in Tahiti (actually Poisson Cru, which is a similar dish made with lime and fresh coconut milk). Really good!
I had an incredible tour guide in Nassau. It really makes a huge difference.
I'd bring the guy from Survivorman, the guy who built a log cabin by hand, and the guy from Primitive Technology.
I hate swimming, and feel like the water is constantly and actively trying to kill me, and yet I somehow really enjoyed snorkeling.
Roatan! Served my mission in Honduras!
My favorite trip ever was in the BVI where we rented a catamaran and sailed the islands. So so so worth it
I am going to the BVI in April. I am so stoked!
Nurse Sharks will bite a human.
He said it. Bridge. It's called the bridge. Or more likely flybridge if this was a smaller boat.
Watching you guys every Wednesday makes me feel just a little less lame than I am. Haha. Y’all kill me. 😂
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago and if you try food from my country please try - roti, doubles, pholorie, pelau, cow-heel soup. There are 'Trini' restaurants available in the certain States but it's way better from the source ;)
I went SCUBA diving in Bonaire, such an amazing experience. My favorite part is that you can go on night dives and the tarpon have learned to use divers to help them hunt. So you’ll be underwater waving your flashlight around and there will be a small glint of light as you illuminate a little fish, then there’s a sudden streak of silver that comes out of nowhere and that little fish is no more.
I just did this from Christmas to New Year's. Lots of fun. We also went snorkeling to see the turtles and saw a lot of non-divers tripping with their fins on.
Brandon saw one firework boat, but Bonaire had places all along the coast setting them off
We did that in Korea on a trip to work on the US Base...we ate in the local canteen that all the Korean employees on base would eat at instead of the "American" places on base.
Brandon needs to take Les Stroud, aka Survivorman!
Will Brandon write a Cosmere Cookbook?
As written by Rock
Wife and I got married in May 1999 as well!
And Things Like This
Rofl I'm over here with my plans for flint and steel, a massive tarp, and a set of cast iron pots/pans amidst Steve Irwin and a giant treehouse. 😆
Adoooonalsium
Will remember our plight eventually...
We do we get Titanic 2: Sink Harder shirts?
i emailed them and dan said they are still working on them
Brandon,
If you were writing both videogames and novels professionally, how would you schedule novel writing outside of a studio day job? I want to do this.
Week 11 of persistently asking for an Intentionally Blank episode on Marching Band!
Was this recorded back-to-back with ep 138? You two are wearing the exact same outfits.
Having almost died in two separate airplane, well jet incidents. I am leery to take smaller jets.
Take Bear Grills on the island
What does Brandon's shirt say? All I can make out is ____ _____ are why I have trust issues.
Untapped Lands. It's a magic the gathering reference. The colored circles are the different mana elements.
Thanks
release the MIDjourney pics
You steer a ship from the HELM! Aren’t you trekkies?
BBQ
The Botched/Butchered Butcher
The Mangled Meat menagerie
The Beefed Beefery
Locked, Stocked & Two Smoked Barrels of Fish
i really want to see some of these AI generated images that get talked about but never shown
You shouldn't objectify your wife like that Dan! (The question was "what 3 objects" and his first thought is his wife).
The guy just had the raw meat sitting in the back of his car? I'd like to pretend the FDA visits these people to make them watch those terrible food safety and GMP videos.
