Just found your site. You make sewing much easier, your explanations on how to assemble each piece very clear and not hurried through, making it easy to follow. Love it, will be back
Thanks so much for the free pattern and tutorial. I just finished my first one using my vintage 1970s Kenmore and it was fun! You probably got an extra 100 views on this video because I kept refering back to it. Thanks again. Bill
I'm so glad you found the pattern and tutorial helpful! It's always exciting to see someone successfully complete their first project. Keep up the great work!
OOOOOOO!!!! I love this. Might bring out my heavy duty machine and try this with a patchwork denim in different configurations. I would definitely be widening the brim. That's always been my biggest complaint with bucket hats, the brim for my head/frame, feels so small, not enough shade to be useful. Maybe even add some hooks/eyes or some such for a safari shade around the neck that can be attached and detached with different styles. I had a 90s bucket in a light chino type khaki with box pleat pockets on the sides, great for little knicknacks you might need on a summer day like lip gloss/balm.
The video notches and pattern notches are different. In your video, the front notches are on the long side of the top and on the pattern they are on the short side of the top. So which way do I follow?
Hi Anastasia :) Sorry I am confused with the pdf pattern. About the seam allowance, do we have to add them to the pattern or they are already counted in?
What type of fabric would you use? Yours looks mildly sturdy like duck canvas almost. I have an avocato cotton i got to make a bucket hat once upon a time. I imagine for a light fabric id use a med weight interfacing for structure?
It really depends on how you want it to look. I used a plain twill for mine. You could use cotton with or without interfacing. The brim isn’t huge so you don’t need a ton of structure.
@Sew Anastasia i could probably do a mock up from some lousy ugly fabric to see before i chop up my good stuff. Ill post on IG if i ever get around to creating it lol
I’ve measured and recut the top and sides twice now. Why is the top of the bucket hat wider that the side circle and I am forced to gather the excess material of the top to fit into the side circle? I did try to cut a smaller version of the top and it is still to much material for the sides. Any suggestions? 😊
I think maybe you have the sides flipped upside down. I just sewed this up on Sunday with a class & it worked well. You also need to make sure you are using the correct seam allowance.
Thank you for the video and the pattern

Thank you ❤
Very welcome 🤗
Thank you! This is so easy and your tutorial is super helpful!
☺️
Although I am finding it hard to get the brim to fit without some folds. :( seems like there is a lot of fabric.
Never mind! It was my fault--I had cut the pattern wrong. Worked great after I corrected it.
I am so excited to try this! If I am using Cotton Woven should I interface with SF 101 first?
You sure can if you want it more structured!
Yes, it needs to be interfaced. Maybe one heavier than sf101. I use td931
I have a brand new granddaughter, would love some tips for adjusting your pattern to an infant size. Thanks!
Measure the head & adjust the pattern accordingly
Awesome hair.
Thank you! Cheers!

Follow the pattern. I flipped the notches to make it easier to sew.
Thank you so much. I’m going to make one for my girlfriend tonight. May I ask, with the pattern, if I print in A4 will it be ok?
Yes, absolutely
Hello I can't find the bucket hat pattern. ?
Hi Anastasia :) Sorry I am confused with the pdf pattern. About the seam allowance, do we have to add them to the pattern or they are already counted in?
It’s included in the pattern
Thank you :) @@SewAnastasia
Cute! Could it be made with a wider brim?
Totally 👍

I want to make this! I went to your website and it requires me to put it in a cart and wants my payment info, can't i just download it? Help!
You can. It’s free so no payment required
Is the circle pattern slightly oval in the pattern? Just making sure
Yes it is
@@SewAnastasia thanks so much!! I’ve got everything ready to sew!
Hello! When I sew the brim on, I end up with excess fabric so it bunches. Any ideas how to stop this?
Yes, clip into it about 1/4 inch to release the tension & make sure you used the correct seam allowance at the seams
@@SewAnastasia Thank you! Will give it a go

Thank you for the replies. I went back slowed down and followed the video made some adjustments and all is good.
