It is confusing. I have simple and complex partial seizures. Coming back from complex partial seizures is so confusing and exhausting. I have short-term memory as well. I keep a notebook nearby to write down my daily activities and make sure I get what I need to get done.
Ive started having these for seemingly no reason at the age of 31, i just turned 32. On my research i realize i have multiple absence seizures a day and now experiencing the clonic seizures with loss of awareness or consciousness im not really sure which but i come to and cant remember what i was just doing, where i am, etc. i get tired, nauseous and depressed feeling afterwards and just want to sleep. Ive had a brain MRI in January but no one said anything was abnormal about it so now idk what to do. Im experiencing increased memory loss because of it and scared I'll fall and get a TBI or worse. Edit: I'd like to mention its just clonic, it says this is rare though, why is it rare?
I think it meant that “clonic” seizures alone are rare and it is usually clonic-tonic. (Like GTC). May I ask whether you’ve had a continuous EEG study done before? If someone is epileptic, it usually shows something.
Does this type of seizure affect breathing? My sons having jerks/shakes during sleep now his nuro says it's normal sleep myoclonic except my issue is when he's having these episodes his breathing is affected, he stops breathing or sucks air between ribs and is always blue around the lips during but the nuro reckons it's fine?
No it is not fine that he is turning blue because that means he is not breathing. People can have seizures in the night, that he is right about. I'm not a doctor so I can't advise when it comes to treatment, but as someone who has battled epilepsy for 42 years and as an advocate I strongly suggest you seek a second opinion. You are welcome to email me at info@defeatingepilepsy.org if you need help with anything.
@heather wanamaker some people have auras and some have seizures without warning. It depends on the type of epilepsy and where abnormal brain activity is taking place.
The best summery I have seen so far to this topic. Great work
