These are my favorite type of Accuquilt shows - using the dies/tools in actual quilts and showing techniques. Thank you!

I do a LOT of machine sewn bindings for customers. Here are my tips
    1. Starch your binding throughly as you press the fold in the binding. It prevents stretch and ripples.
    2. I use a slightly bigger seam than 1/4 “for the first stitching. Press as sewn, and press the binding away from the center of the quilt.
    3. Press again so the binding wraps to the front. Glue the mitered corners with a dab of glue. Press with a dry iron to set the glue.
    4. For perfect topstitching, use a left edge sewing foot. Viking, Pfaff and Brother offer them. Not Janome . It has a raised edge on the left that slots the binding edge in perfectly. I also use compensating feet on my heavy duty machine, 1/16th left compensating foot for high shank machines. Perfect topstitching.

I hand bind in the evening while watching TV. I find hand sewing so relaxing. And in the end the time justifies the results.

I sew my binding strip on to the back with my serger using a 4 thread overlock and just barely letting the blade trim off any threads. Very fast and easier than using the sewing machine! Gives a nice finished edge then I wrap it to the front and use my blind stitch walking foot to edge stitch it close to the edge.

Pam, the 1 3/4" strip would be perfect for my sewing machine's quilt binder attachment. That would be so easy.

I prefer topstitching my binding with a much smaller seam - like about an 1/8" (or less) because I don't like the flappiness. I like your miter cutting tip with the die though. My ready set go bundle shipped today - yay!!

I love using an edge stitching foot and can get great 1/8" topstitching on the binding.

Hi everyone, finally got a chance to watch the video tonight. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on binding, and your correct, binding scares me. Have done quite a few quilts. 9 done last year, and I never felt good about the binding and how it looked. And your right, if You have worked hard on your quilt you don’t wanna mess it up put the binding on. I now have more determination to make it right. When you sew the binding on, how far over do you sew? That’s where my biggest problem is sometimes I do not catch the front or the back to being on how I’m finishing the binding and then I have to go through and redo it. The video was fantastic so thank you again so much both of you for showing us that. Happy quilting hope your flight was awesome and you got your binding on thank you Ruth Banes

You could do a lot better with your cancelations. To your fans. Make very sure of what you order because they will NOT cancel your order or even one thing. Already I don't like them.
