      As a long-time PCVR user, what we need is a pancake mirror and an OLED display plus a 250-gram helmet, priced at $800 E5

    I'd like to make a suggestion.
    For headsets where people would be better off using their own headphones, you could test the experience using the 3.5mm jack to see how good the built-in DAC is.
    Also, does this headset require additional software from DPVR, or does it work natively with SteamVR without any other software?

  • @julianmazzola

    I tried the original version of this headset, it's honestly great, but was not usable for my IPD at 69mm. I also can't imagine why anyone would want this at $599 over a PSVR2 which is better in every way except mura. The DPVR would need to come down to $399 to be a compelling option relative to the competition.

    The first two comments killed it for me before I even got into the video. Like @julianmazzola, my IPD is 69mm. Not being able to adjust the IPD means this headset is dead in the water for me, even if I hadn't already been unimpressed with paying more for the DPVR E4 Black than I paid for my soon-to-be ready for PCVR PSVR2.
    Good review nonetheless, Sebastian; thanks for sharing it for those who might find this headset worth considering.

    At $600 USA that means it's probably around $800 Canadian, way to much for what you get, this HMD should be priced at $400 Canadian max, I'd take a Quest 2 over this thing, at least it has some sort of IPD adjustment and like you said, the sound is terrible which makes it another thing working against it's price point, fresnel optics is another downside, I thought fresnel lenses were dead for new HMDs, please let fresnel die, please! LOL
    Pico4 puts this thing to shame and is cheaper, yes, the only thing going for it is a display port connection, but with the same resolution as the Quest 2, it's not such a big deal anymore.
    High price point for a substandard product. :(

  • @Demnus
    @Demnus 5 днів тому +11

    For what it is, it's too expensive. 250$ is the right price for it.

    • @Kenzie1051
      @Kenzie1051 3 дні тому

      See, the issue is, there really isn't that many vr headsets like this that are IO tracked and PC only. They kind of have market control.

      @fundacaotucanocacareco1798 3 дні тому +2

      @@Kenzie1051PSVR 2 is coming to Pc next month, it's definitely a better deal and even with the adapter it's still cheaper, that thing is not worth the price, specially with the Quest headsets out there (even with compression it is probably a better PCVR experience), they should've made it really cheap, and at least have an IPD adjustment

    • @Demnus
      @Demnus 3 дні тому

      @@Kenzie1051 Except they're not! Because for the same price Quest 3 is better PC Only IO tracked VR headset. It has pancake lenses and better displays with the IPD adjustment, that gives better picture quality, it has better tracking, even DPVR fixed their issues. It has ringless more comfortable controllers, hand tracking color pass through camera and so on. It can function as wireless PC VR headset. And on top of all that it doubles as The Best on the market standalone VR headset, that gives you the versatility if your lifestyle changes.
      I'm saying it not because I'm some kind of meta fanboy. I'm still Ok with my WMR Samsung Odyssey helmet. I'm saying it because, I want a good competition on the market. I want there to be a diversity people can choose from. This headset might be good alternative for the Quest 2, if you don't need wirless and autonomy features. But not for Quest 3. So, if it's not properly priced similar to Quest 2, they might still have they're market, but it's not a mass market, and not a business market, it's some wired niche with not a lot of weirdos that will actually buy this thing.
      I'd really like to recommend this thing and even buy it as a replacement for my own WMR headset. But only for the right Price - 250-300$.

    • @Kenzie1051
      @Kenzie1051 3 дні тому

      @@fundacaotucanocacareco1798 While I never said it was actually worth that much, I get where you're coming from. There just isn't that many options for pcvr only headsets that are 300-500 dollars, so, as said before, they kind of have control over the price.

  • @wittyname-sy5je

    They added ventilation but still didn't add physical IPD adjustment, and they want $599 for it? I'm all for more competition but no physical IPD is just shooting yourselves in the foot.
    For a displayport headset you might as well get the PSVR2 with the adapter or maybe save up another $100 and see if you can get a Crystal Light without local dimming.

  • @MegaManNeo
    @MegaManNeo 5 днів тому +1

    I'm getting Lenovo Explorer vibes by the looks of this headsets and that's definitely a good thing.

  • @phylozix11
    @phylozix11 4 дні тому +1

    To me any PCVR headset should be less than the Quest because it isn't a console or PC just a display unit and controllers for a PC. Like the PSVR2 is a display unit and controllers for the console and now PC with an adapter. The Quests were always worth more than any PCVR headset out but under powered of course until the Quest 3 and 4. I think new inside out tracking PCVR headsets with controllers should be compared to the Rift and Rift S not so much the Index since it's on a different playing field. Outside in tracking headsets pretty much cost extra for the base stations. This is why I think Valve could cut cost on a inside out tracking headset and could get it under $800 for the Deckard if it's just a PCVR headset and if they do a standalone headset $1000. I can see them doing maybe one base version and one that has a bunch of extra stuff in it for more though. They need to get people in VR nonetheless to even have a upgraded version even sell.

    well if there is no IPD adjustment, it would not work for me. I have an IPD of 60. That is kind of dumb not having any IPD adjustment.
    I will still stay with my Quest 3. I can run allot of games in Oculus native link mode instead of STEAM VR. And if I do want to do Wireless mode, I can with the Quest 3.
    Even though the price of this headset is about the same, it has things that would not make me change what I currently have.
    Lastly, how sturdy is that flip up feature and would it brake over short period of time.
    Thanks for the video.

    E4 still is not it. We need Pimax to work on making their headsets stable and functional so we can have viable G2 alternatives that aren’t above $1000.
    Quest 3s battery’s painfully short for the price so it’s nice to have tethered vr options rather than standalone. You get to play so much better games and battery life isn’t such a problem. At least the valve index controllers last 7 hours
