This version coming out proves that the swiftness of the ranger is indeed still talked about today.
Absolutely
Indeed
As it should, good song, great voice, all around legendary just like Arizona Ranger himself.
We won't go quietly - the Legion can count on that.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for- *gets nuked*
Patrolling the mojave almosts makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Nelson's back in our hands. I hope we can defend it this time.
That's what the crosses are for...
To make sure you don't go quitely...
Wish I had a First Recon guy looking after me.

101 for me.
HANDSOME
AYO HES BACK IN THE COMMENTS LOL
aye matey, he a fine looker indeed!
@@MatthewWillson-qg2ov What does that have to do with anything?
@@MatthewWillson-qg2ov It's actually Anglo-Irish 🤓
The handsomest lads. Loved the dog in Jon's last vid I saw xD I hope there's more anime music (maybe collabs?)
WITH A BIG IIIIIRON ON HIS HIP 🗣🗣🗣
*BIG IRON ON HIS HIP🗣🗣🗣
In this town there lived an outlaw, by the name of Texas Red.
My boyfriend got me New Vegas during the sale celebrating the show. I loaded it up, and this was the first song that played on the radio. I immediately knew that it was going to be special to me, both the game and this song.
Same, best moment ever
The main menu music still gives me shivers sometimes. 😆 obsidian captured something special with new vegas. Still an awesome game. 😀
I'm still putting NV as the best fallout. I like them all but this one is just above the rest in my opinion
@@kyllangillian7805 I agree, the best fallout game in in existence
@@kyllangillian7805 full send, if it wasn't for mods I'd be playing NV again instead of f4.
An Irish Constable from New York turned to Texas/Arizona Ranger in Amarillo is what comes to mind when I here this.
(Technically he'd be an Arizona ranger, but I digress.)
@@octaviusmorlock Even better!
To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
For the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side slowly lookin' all around
He's an outlaw loose and running, came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to do some business with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer though a youth of 24
And the notches on his pistol numbered one and 19 more
One and 19 more
Now the stranger started talking, made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona ranger, wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red
After Texas Red
Wasn't long before the story was relayed to Texas Red
But the outlaw didn't worry men that tried before were dead
20 men had tried to take him, 20 men had made a slip
21 would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
The morning passed so quickly, it was time for them to meet
It was 20 past 11 when they walked out in the street
Folks were watching from the windows, everybody held their breath
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death
About to meet his death
There was 40 feet between them when they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the ranger is still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather 'fore a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground
Oh, he might have went on living but he made one fatal slip
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
Big iron, big iron
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
Sometimes I struggle understanding, I think I need a Disney sing along version. lol
I feel like the original song has an air like it’s being sung either as the events are taking place or right after. The tension and surprise of the duel is palpable. Your version feels a lot more nostalgic. Like the towns folk are remembering the day the ranger came to town with fondness. It’s a beautiful twist on such an iconic tune.
I find it interesting how somber this sounds in comparison to the original but it's absolutely beutiful.
Marty Robbins is great for you. His story songs have emotional subtlies most singers miss. You've a fine gift for stressing these subtle qualities without being obvious or clumsy. Which is harder than most people realize.
Please, please, please do El Passo!
YES! 😀
i love how you always end up looping back to folk. It always ends up feeling like i'm finding your channel for the first time all over again. yet another lovely cover, capt'n 🧡
Texas Red: Is too slow.
Ranger: Aim was deadly.
Andrew Jackson: Wrong.
Staring firmly into the horizon while listening to this
My dad first introduced me to Marty Robinson, and this and El Paso were his favorites. You did an amazing job with it. I can’t wait for my dad to see it.
Marty Robbins.
I love El Paso. Did you ever listen to the reprieve (the second song) about it. The first takes place in the Old West the second takes place in modern times as he is flying over the city in a small plane.
@@leekestner1554 It's actually a trilogy - El Paso, Faleena (from El Paso), El Paso City. The second one is the story of the girl in the original song, and then the third is the one you mentioned, about the present day guy getting a weird feeling flying over the city, strongly implying he's the reincarnation of the singer in the first song (of course that one was written in the 70s, lol).
Anyways, my fave Marty song is probably The Ballad of the Alamo. The Cowboy in the Continental Suit and The Strawberry Roan are up there too. Whenever a video game gives me a horse and lets me name it, I go with "The Brute" after the horse in Continental Suit.
@@barbarakennedy2667 Thanks, that’s what I had down originally, I guess stupid autocorrect struck again. 😂
@@leekestner1554 No, I’ve never heard it. I will definitely have to look that up, thanks.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter. But this makes that desire a little less
Big Iron has been one of my all time favorite songs, so really happy to hear you make a version of it
W song
WE GOIN TO THE WILD WEST WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️
TO GALWAY!!! :P
WE CLEARIN' LEATHER WITH THIS ONE!!!
Might be my favorite cover of one of my favorite ballads.
Yes. I agree! 😀
This, and "They're Hangin me Tonight" are my two favorites from the Gunfighter Ballad. God i'd love to here a Colm rendition on that one
@@nyxizanami134 Pretty strong duo there, hard to top those two songs.
This and Johnny Guitar were always the ones I was glad to hear when it popped up on my Pip-Boy.
Absolute classics for a reason.
I like Cash's cover more, but that does not speak Ill of this. It is just for me Jonny sang the definitive version. Besting out even Marty robins original.
Colm did grand.
@@singletona082 Yeah, Big Iron might be one of Cash's best covers. To beat Marty Robbins' version of Big Iron is pretty incredible, and Johnny Cash managed it. Shows you how brilliant he really was.
But this is a cracker as well.
@@LittleMan2300 OH absolutely and Colm goes in the whole opposite direction than Cash. Jaunty Bard singing a tavern tale rather than Marty Robins campfire song or Cash's grim Ranger telling of events from fifty years ago and a lifetime away.
@@singletona082 Three entirely different versions of a song that all manage to sound extremely good. What a combination.
Ah Johnny Guitar, you either love it or hate it
Haven’t clicked on a video this fast in a while lol
Same
Same here, its not every day Colm covers your granddad's favourite
A draw as fast as the ranger's
Fastest click in the west
Ya
now im wondering what this wuld sound like if played as a irich folk song
Another triumph, Colm! Marty Robbins fan here, you did this song justice in your own right.
Can't wait to see you with the Longest Johns!
I'm sorry when is this!
Such a great pairing!
@@pharrigan-hikes Now! check for dates in ether the description or probably in his social media.
I first heard this because Geoff sang it (I’ll be honest, he’s how I got started listening to bass/subharmonic in the first place) and now you’re singing it, and now I want you both to sing a song together. Your high notes are very pure and crisp, but you can introduce grit a lot easier, while Geoff has those kind of milk chocolate sweet lows and mids (not like Bobby, who has straight dark chocolate smooth bass)
That would be my Christmas wish this year 😂
Good old Shepherd Morgan always gets his man. That will teach you to mess with Judgement and Redemption.
Makes me want to play new Vegas and drink whiskey
Can easily see this being sung in an old fashion Western film. I love it!
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, my granddad's favourite song!
Patrolling the Mojave makes you wish for a Nuclear Winter.
As always Colm, you have done a fantastic job. I haven't listened to this song in quite a while because I am not a big fan of country music, but I do enjoy the older school country music and this just hits. Most Marty Robbins songs do. You should do more of his songs like 'Ballad of the Alamo.'
Keep up the good work and don't over work yourself!
My dad listened to Marty Robbins, i still have the vinyl records. At 74 now he's still one of my favorites. Thank you for your rendition. Different and just as good. Brings back many memories.
ive been singing this for a while now and you drop this?? such a coincidence lol ur voice suits it so well
Wow Colm, you set the world on fire, again. 🔥 🎸🔥
I love this song. Really cool seeing Colm cover it.
OBESSED WITH THIS SONG, so fucking excited to listen to your version!
Never have I needed something so badly.
I didn't know how much I needed this.Great job Colm!
Was waiting so long for you to do this song and it is more awesome than I imagined.
I just want him to cover every song that exists.
Full body chills! I grew up listening to Marty Robbins, this literally brought tears to my eyes along with chills.
Thank you for this gift of a cover.
Will you be covering most of the fallout songs? I’m loving your version of them!
Big Iron, the song with 1 and 19 more covers. All good and great, glad to add this to the likes of Johnny Cash and Colter Wall.
Being a Fiend in Southern New Vegas, hearing this song in the distance, followed by gunshots, must be terrifying.
He brought out his inner Sean MacGuire, now he just needs an Arthur to drunkenly ramble to
Thank you for keeping good music alive.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter...unless you have this kind of music to listen to. This would keep me going all day.
This song takes me back to summers as a kid, helping my mom with baking while Marty Robbins played on her old turntable; nothing but happy memories. Awesome cover!
I’m kinda tickled that people only know this song from fallout, I’m southern, we just know it. You did great mate
You take a sip of your trusty vault 13 canteen
SUGGESTION: “It’s All Over but the Crying.” (The Ink Spots)
It's really lovely hearing your wonderful accent shining through these southern & country-style lyrics of this wonderful old Marty Robbins song. I love it! I think you've done a better job of it than just about any other singer I've heard (other than Marty, of course). WELL DONE! Thank you VERY much! 😀
Always a good day when Colm uploades
Patrollin' the Mojave makes you wish for some more Colm McGuinness music.
I didn't really care about Fallout until the TV show premiered, but this cover and your rendition of "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" are the biggest endorsement of the games I've seen so far.
Give New Vegas a try. It's one of the best RPGs of the last twenty years.
Amazing work brother!! Much love
I'm a hardcore Marty Robbins fan but I absolutely love how you covered this song.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a Nuclear Winter
We won’t go quietly, Legion can count on that
One of my absolute favorite songs! Thank you so much for performing this!
LET’S GO
maybe the Irish drinking song by Kyle Gordon?
I'm over here hoping!
This was one of my favorite songs when traveling New Vegas and the Mojave Wastes... Thanks Colm.
Petition for Colm to have a New Vegas cover Album😂
Heyyyy you did my request. Nice one!
This almost sounds like an Irish Folk Song the way its done here. It's hauntingly beautiful. Well done! Bravo!
Are you kidding me?!?! ❤❤❤
First I get into fallout thanks to the resurgence and now we get this banger from you that I've actually listened to on repeat thanks to looking up fallout music to listen to while I work?!
The gods have heard my prayers truly!
I can die happy in the wasteland now
THE LEGECY OF THE COURIER LIVES ON WOOOOO!! Love the music Colm, always a pleasure hearing you sing, love the music.
I grew up listening to this song, as Marty was one of my father's favorite singers. Hearing this song being sun by Colm hits different and makes me miss those simpler days of hanging out with my dad. Thanks Colm, you don't know how much I needed this.
I'm both shocked and yet not that this song works so well as an Irish ballad
Our guy knocks it out of the park once again! *applause*
The constable with the truncheon on his hip
Omg this just made my entire night. You could not have done this any better! All of the best music came in this era and I love seeing it be remade without the artist ruining it
I love your western ballad covers!
You have such a good knack of telling a story while singling like a true bard!
Master's Call Next!
Marty Robbins, Gunfighter Ballads. My dad wore this record out 😊 Fond memories.....
FINALLY
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR COLM TO COVER BIG IRON
Listening to music like this makes me wish for a Nuclear Winter.
Yeehaw.
As an Arizonan (not a Ranger, alas) this is one of my favorite songs. Thanks!
It doesn't get much more OG than this.
Colm. God bless ya. This was beautiful.
I'm sssooo glad you can still get that irish tone in. I used to listen to Marty Robbins version all the time with my grandfather. But Colm hit a bullseye again with his voice.
Guess the ranger isn't the only one with deadly aim. Colm has a big voice instead of big iron.
You love this song because of a video game. I love this song because it is one of the greatest works of the greatest musician in its genre, whose entire discography lives on my mp3 player. We are not the same.
lovely!! 10/10
EPIC VERSION ❤❤❤
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for nuclear winter.
Hey there, ladies and gentlemen, this is mr. New Vegas here to remind you that you’re nobody till somebody loves you, and that somebody… is me. I love you. And now I’d like to ask mr. Colm McGuinness from Irish Wasteland to play one of my very favorite songs for you.
Love your accent with this song, it’s a really pretty combination. I always loved Marty Robins, listen to El Paso, I think you would do an amazing reimagining of that song. ❤
Did you just changed accent, to sing song right? Color me impressed, bravo!
That 1 2 3 4 at the start. 😁I didn't even hear it at first.
This song was on the CD my grandma gave me with my first portable CD player. Brings back so many memories.
You went and did it. You strayed into the chaotic cosmos of meme country.
Love this version. And again I vote for Irish soldier laddie
NICE!!!
Diabolically handsome.
Some fans know this from Fallout. I know it from Papa, riding into town in the dusy ol Ford at 7AM for coffee, fries and gravy ❤
Would you ever consider Confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde? The way you can manipulate your voice would suit it so well
Amazing!! Thank you for singing this!
Honestly it sounds much better with a Celtic swing to it rather than the cowboy swing the song usually has. Well done.
