- I just got a brand new monitor and got this on my second attempt of the night. All in all, I'm super proud of this time. Another second and a half can reasonably be saved before this category is completely dead.

Sheesh, speed-runners are scary. Developers put in so much effort, yet speed-runners somehow always break the games for impossible times.

I thought the record was 8 hours not 8 minutes. Then he cliped through the wall in the babys room and i saw the vid was over half over and i was like, "oh...."

Great run, I suppose it was foolish of the devs not to include the elements like fire, ice and water into the end game boss so even if you did skip to the end, if you didn't have those fire, ice or water coins you could not do anything anyways. But in any case, what a great run.

@@thatonedude932 There are a few bosses that require the elements but those bosses are not required to finish the game so. You need fire for the Butler, you need Ice for the Shower Lady, you need Water for the little girl, and you also need fire again for the frozen dude in the basement. You also need fire to beat the guy in the dining room, technically can't get to the dog and goo boy without water as well. But again if you're skipping all that then you really don't need them at all lol
I know this is a speed run but watching him just leave all that money lying around physically hurts me
Holy fuck. It took me about 20 minutes only to learn the dynamics of the game.
i finished area 1 and still cant suck more than 1 ghost at a time

Thanks man. I bought the BenQ RL Series. It's 75 hz, but if you can afford it, I would definitely get a 144 hz

When you play in The Secret Mansion which you unlock after beating the game normally, your vacuum is a bit stronger. Perfect for speedruns!

How do you catch ghosts that fast? I never learned how. Honestly i just turn the joysticks at random

on the hidden mansion you unlock after beating the game, the vacuum is stronger so it makes catching ghosts faster. you'll see on most runs they play on the hidden mansion

When you do the 2nd Quest after beating the game the first time, you can do damage faster but take more damage i recall

Yes. I have about a second to save on Chauncey, close to a full second on the OOB portion, and another second on King Boo. Low 8:24 is feasible

I'm also trying the chest glitch too but I can't do the first purple bat part when you get a scewed luigi. It's too hard. Any tips? I just started playing Luigi's Mansion on my Gamecube after 10 years! :)
@@nilgomez6634 the inverted hidden mansion is only for the PAL (europe) version of Luigi's mansion: in the NTSC (american) version (and I believe japanese as well) the hidden mansion is not inverted. There are also other differences: the PAL hidden mansion is by far the hardest of all versions'. There's virtually no difference at all between the normal mansion and the hidden mansion in the NTSC version

You still gotta include the beginning intro as part of the gameplay, you only counted from when you first get the vacuum
Time starts at file select. The intro does not count towards the timing of the run. That's the way it's always been
@@Wookis Yes. All categories for this game are done on Hidden Mansion, unless specified otherwise. There are other miscellaneous categories that are played on Normal Mansion, but those aren't the main ones and they aren't as popular.

How is the run valid if it isn't a new file?
No run's are completed on fresh files as the intro takes about 6 minutes to do and is highly unnecessary. They're all done on the Hidden Mansion, except for the 2 that specify they must be done on Normal Mansion. These rule's were set in place a few year's after the game came out, long before I started running.

Who the fuck thinks of these glitches? Like I've played this game around 1000 hours and still never have seen anything like this. It must exist somewhere in the code for dataminers to search for and discover.
These glitches were probably discovered by both pure coincidence during normal play, dataminers, and TASers.
Imagine being called HD speed runs and not uploading in 1080p smh

@@Ashley_99_ This is played on Hidden Mansion, not Normal Mansion. The vacuum is stronger in this mode. It's basically NG+
