Do you herp near Taichung at all? I will be there next week and looking forward to seeing some snakes! I am hoping mobility to habitat will not be a problem for me bit i will figure something out!

That's incredible! Plus what amazing footage of the Red-banded Snake eating the frog. I've only seen more once and it was definitely cheating at the Narcisse Snake Dens.
Haha. I will be getting busy with other projects, but I will continue to make videos here. Probably about once per month. Of course mostly snakes haha, but I want to make a video about mongoose soon too.
Many thanks for the great shots and the bilingual captions. I learn a lot from this video, including English. Did you wake greater green snake up or it sleeps with openning eyes and moving tongue? Your finger was so close to the little mock viper, and it looks awake. Why didn't it try to bite you? Diurnal snakes don't bite at night?
Thank you for your feedback. I don't believe they sleep quite the same as we do. For starters snakes sleep with their eyes open (lizards close their eyes), so when the light gets on them they "wake up" a little bit. They don't go anywhere though. They are always in the same place when you go back later in the night. I was close to the mock viper, but not threatening it. It was probably still half asleep. If I grabbed it or made it feel threatened it would probably bite haha.

@@wildlifejames I ended up going to Dakeng a lot and it was very good. I am in Japan now but hopefully will get back there some time soon.

是的，晚上你不必走出城市很遠就能找到很多蛇。 即使是台北週邊的熱門步道，例如像山，夜間散步時也能發現 5 至 10 條蛇。這個影片裡的地方比較特別哈哈。 這也是一個特別美好的夜晚哈哈。

為以為 過山刀、臭青母、南蛇 也很容易看到，結果沒有
某一些種類的蛇是夜行性以及食性(蛙、蟾蜍、小爬蟲類)的關係，夜間才會出沒覓食。
我在陽明山確實常看到過山刀。 晚上甚至睡在樹上。 臭青母有時會在晚上看到，但通常只在白天看到。 南蛇我在北部沒見過。

yeah, those trails were very productive. I took someone to find frogs last night and we found six snakes. I was surprised this late in the year.
個人住在新竹縣湖口鄉，從被路殺的死蛇來看，目前看到，有紅斑蛇，也有雨傘節。通常是 20 到 30 公分長的小蛇，沒有什麼經驗，才容易被車碾斃。
這是正確的。 路殺對許多蛇來說是一個主要威脅。 幸運的是，大多數蛇不願意走到路中間，但這種情況仍然經常發生。

Wow! haha. I know a few people who have seen more than 70. Where was that? Next year I'll aim for 70+
