Really clear description and imagery! I'm surprised the cobra didn't make the Top 10 though - they're the ones I most commonly saw when I lived around Dahu area in Neihu. The hills there are full of them!
Yes, I hear Cobras are seen in that area quite often. If you go walk around at night though, you will start to see how many more other snakes there are. I have only ever seen 3 cobras in Taiwan, but probably 30 mock vipers (which came in number 10). That being said, some areas have more of some snakes and less of others. Neihu has quite a few Cobras, but unlikely to see them in Tiger/Elephant Mountain for example. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it :)

Hi James, I was led to your UA-cam page by some miserable old guy I was talking to on HF radio last night in Timaru, New Zealand... I am in UK. Haha, yeah, I checked out the Latin words for pipe and that one just matched the English much better. In fact you can see in the Latin name, the roots of the corresponding English words.
Can be okay still. Sometimes there's some warm weather in November, especially early November. Green Tree vipers and Habus are pretty easy to find year-round. A few other species will be harder to find

@@wildlifejames yeah. I can send you a picture and video by email if you want to see. Apparently, it is also here in the south. I’m in Kaohsiung. I was walking along the school road at night when i saw it. It was slithering to the road and just about 15 cm from my shoes. It took me a few seconds to recognize it was a snake because it was dark. I thought it was brown and a branch but it had the typical S shape snakes make. Maybe it noticed me and so it went back to the nearby bush/tree near our volleyball courts. Haha, yeah sound like a bamboo pit viper. I'm glad my video helped hahaha. They are very common. They are not going to come and attack, but they can be dangerous when unseen in trees and bushes. Most bites occur when people grab them by accident when they are trying to grab a tree. I have a friend who was bitten a year ago. She accidentally put her hand on one while river tracing. Cobras will usually put on a big show of hissing and hooding up if you get too close, so they are not usually so dangerous either. Those macaques down in KS are trouble though haha.
@@neomoonprince69 Yikes! Yes that is a danger of vipers. they hide in places. If you are unlucky you could grab one or sit on it. I heard of one woman who accidentally sat on a 雨傘節 and it bit her on the bottom lol. She thought ants had bitten her. Luckily it was not a bad bite and she was fine.
