    I have a non-ISP specific version of this device and the ethernet port works as ethernet port would in any router. I have my desktop hooked to this thing via the ethernet. Checking with Ookla speed test I get about 130-150 mbps dl speed connection with this router via ethernet (300 mbps theoretical 4G+ plan, no extra antennas, 4-5/5 signal).

    Unlimited hotspot data is mostly grandfathered Verizon and Att lines, T Mobile may be a higher usage cap

    Chris... could you try putting your Mobley AT&T chip in it and see if it works?

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  6 років тому +2

      It'll work.. but if it's a Connected Car Plan, it's still not a qualified device for the plan, just like the Unite Explore.

      I have a Mobley on Connected Car Plan, unlimited $20/mo, w/deprioritizing @ 22 GB. Tried putting the SIM in a Unite Explore and the speeds were like 1/3rd of the Mobley speeds (1 - 3 Mpbs instead of 3 - 10 Mpbs) in the same location back to back tests. It happened where the signal was low and strong. I sent back the Unite Explore. Any idea why that would happen? Now the Mobley is shutting itself off after random periods of time and I have to keep removing and reconnecting power to start it up again. Maybe I should try this Nighthawk?

    Great video. Could you run speed test on it alongside side the explorer to compair? I am wondering if the ping will go down and even more so with an antenna? Thanks!

    There is a question about the ethernet port in/out. Can I plug this Nighthawk directly into an older desktop computer's ethernet port? The computer does not have an wireless card in it.

    Hi guys....first let me say that I really enjoy all your vids.
    I am thinking of getting this device for my sailboat. My only concern is how compatible it would be with an external omnidirectional antenna (for a decent signal down below). I can’t seem to find any info about this so I would really appreciate your guidance.
    Many thanks in advance.

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  6 років тому

      This sort of device would be best with a omnidirectional MIMO antenna for boating use to best take advantage of LTE. Our guide to cellular antennas:www.rvmobileinternet.com/resources/selecting-a-cellular-antenna-2/
      You'll need TS9 adapters to fit this device.

    We have AT&T family plan and I hear soon will get 30gb mobile hotspot on each phone. What's a cheap option if i just want to be able to check a camera in a remote property that gets 3 bars from AT&T. Don't want the camera to be saving data over wifi, but just need to check it remotely. Barely need any bandwidth there and while I'm there i have my phone for surfing.

My goal is to be able to take the Nighthawk out as a portable wifi whenever i leave the house for my phone. The only home devices i have connected is a Google home mini, laptop and my TV.

    Question: If you buy the router full price (without contract) is it unlocked. Can you use it on another carrier. It supports the same LTE bands as T-Mobile. I wonder if you can use on T-Mobile? (or is it strictly configured to at&t apn and wouldn't even recognize a T-mobile sim card?)

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  6 років тому +1

      You would need to jump through AT&T's hoops to get it unlocked (last we checked, wasn't as easy as it should be). But yes, once you do - ideal for T-Mobile as well.

      It's $20/month to add to an existing Unlimited Plus multi-line account. For standalone it's $65/mo for Unlimited Choice (speeds always reduced to 3mbps) or $90 for Unlimited Plus (full speed). The 22GB is not a hard throttle, just network management.
