      I have the M6 Pro as a firstnet hotspot ban 14 it uses, and my download and upload speeds are 80-120 and up is 8-20 mbps. However, my ping is 78. And there is a tower 4 miles away between trees and gaps and more trees.
      I did drive over to the tower and ran speed test, and it was no better. Do you think a cell booster or an antenna is the solution to get better ping? And though it says 5 and 6 g and supposedly the latest firmware, it stays in 4g lte. I was thinking about this antenna, in case you have any thoughts.

I have found this in settings Data Usage but my question how do you get that to display on main screen where you swipe up to get settings. Please help me find how to display this as i find it useful instead of drilling down to date Usage screen. Thanks so much.

    I have M1 and not upgrading till now because of all these expensive mobile router series are lacking 1 important feature, "IP reserved", which is to assign internal static IPs to devices' MAC addresses connected to the router. There is "Port Forwarding" feature in the router, but without reserving static IP the port forwarding will not work at all. I am happy with the M1 network speed and stability in latency, but without port forwarding it is difficult for me.

  • @dugsbugs1

    It's interesting that I have had to return 3 of mine because of a bug that stopped the internal antenna from working in both the M5 and M6.
    I recently got my 1st notification of a firmware update and it seems to have fixed the issue.
    That update was in July 23

    A little late here, sorry….but…. You would not believe what a lot of us out here in the great wilds of rural USA (or anyone living anywhere where cable/fiber internet is not available) would do for those speeds you called “garbage”. I’m sure a 100Mb/s connection must feel like the slowest thing next to dial-up. Yeah, I’m older than dial-up. But it is literally 10x faster than what I currently pay almost $80 a month for. And I run 5 computers, 2 ROKU TVs, 2 big screen TVs with Rokus attached, 2 xBoxes, 3 tablets and 4 smart phones on WiFi all on this little old 10Mb/s connection. We get a little lag every now and then. But it’s not like all of these are running at the same time. Usually just 3 TVs, 1 or 2 PCs, and a couple of the tablets. So, that slow 100Mb/s is something I’d love to have!

    • @landpet
      @landpet  11 місяців тому +3

      Lol, I'm also older than dial-up. I remember those days someone would call your house and the Internet would disconnect. But yeah compared to fiber internet, this thing is slow. I was trying to emphasize that this thing is much more capable assuming the signal is there.
      I wonder if they have starlink in your area, I heard great things about it.

      @@landpet I may check into it. I’ve seen a couple other SIM modem/routers that might work to. Right now, it’s wireless (4G/5G) or it’s watch everything on my phone. These companies that broadcast wireless internet charge an arm and leg for a tenth of the speed I’d get if I lived in town. Thanks for the video and the info.

    • @landpet
      @landpet  5 місяців тому

      You would need to tweak some settings, either by disabling the router portion of this Netgear which I haven’t checked if that’s possible or you can run your mesh network in access point mode or bridge mode.

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Рік тому +1

      It depends, the mobile router is capable of more range, more devices can connect to it and can potentially have faster speeds as some companies cap hotspot data speeds. It really just depends on you, for the occasional user that uses it once in a while and doesn't need fast speeds, the phones hotspot is fine, for people who want the best possible connection with more range, more devices, etc then this would be more ideal

    • @landpet
      @landpet  11 місяців тому

      I haven't tried doing that, seems like something that would be worthwhile. I can't provide you with a concrete answer, but I would think most mesh systems would work with it. I'm thinking if you can run the mesh wifi in access point mode and connect to this, it should emit the same signal. Again, that's just a guess. I have several videos lined up otherwise, I would also be interested myself to try out my theory.

      Depends on your internet. If you don't have internet and want to get it from a cell signal, then this would probably be the best router to work with the cell tower subscription. If you have regular internet like a cable modem, ONT or DSL. Then I would suggest different routers like the Netgear RAXE500 or a mesh system if you live in a larger home.
