  • After exploring and mapping out new logging roads punched deep into the Boreal forest I set out to cut a trail to gain access to a tiny nameless lake to paddle and fish its waters. Join me as I paddle what is likely a lake no one has ever been on! But this posses a problem as I cannot find a suitable location for an over night experience. Luckily for me I was able to resort to a familiar lake and campsite to pitch my tent for the night. And the evening setting sun over the water made for a dream experience many wish they could have! And I share it all with you😊

    .Wow friend. No business magnate, no important politician affords the luxuries that you, my friend, afford. Being in places like these is unlike any other. A VIRGIN PLACE WITHOUT TRACES OF ANYONE ELSE WHO WAS THERE BEFORE. When we go to look for arrowheads we have also been in places that have no way to get there, we open our own gaps to get there in our jeep. It is fascinating to arrive at a place where only you have arrived. You can find many surprises. Huge fish and excellent camp my friend.

    That is pretty sweet to be the first man to paddle a body of water. There are times when I'm hiking that I wonder, "How long has it been since someone else hiked here" and then I see a can or something and know it wasn't that long, haha. Awesome that the lake had fish in it. Sometimes the lakes with no inlet or outlet that are high up in the mountains out here will be fishless. That steam coming off the water was an awesome shot. Great video, man.

      All lakes out here have fish of some kind, the waterfowl alone will transport fish eggs from body of water to others. The problem is finding the desirable fish species 😆
      Thanks John ✌️

    At least you could change plans after not being able to find a campsite at Fish Stick Lake. Hate it when it’s the end of the day and you got no choice but to camp in a 3rd rate spot. Thanks for sharing Marc…. Cheers! 🍺🍺

    Nice to be on an undiscovered lake! When I lived in Nova Scotia, a friend from work and I would look for just such areas. One lake we saw on a map was called DREADNAUGHT...after portaging in there one weekend and getting absolutely skunked and a bear chewed our gear at our campsite while we were out on the lake early the next morning, and after being eaten alive by flies, we called that lake FISH-NOT haha. Too bad about the no campsite on that lake. Nice that you caught a few small ones. Maybe there will be some larger ones (and walleye in there?). Over on SECRET lake you had a nice campsite. The rice and sausage looked good, and you an Lexie had a nap...then the first-cast Fish! Amazing fishing in there! Then the Second One! LOL So cool to hear the loons at dusk. We don't have those out here. Lexie watched you cook that bacon...watched your every move. Nice video, Marc. Lots of fish action!

      But when you land on a good lake the torture is all worth it👍 I would totaly miss the loonse out there!

    Great video Marc and good hunting out that beautiful new lake - nice logging roads too, no expense spared eh? - I agree when you mentioned the jumbled mess on the shore of boreal woods lakes lol - one time I had to get off a lake because of lightning and it was nearly impossible to find a spot to “dock” - thanks buddy, I enjoyed the video. Cheers

    Well at least you tried Marc. Its always interesting to check out these unknown lakes. Encountered many in my younger years doing mineral exploration surveys in north Saskatchewan with same results finding only small pike. Out there, they call them hammer handles in the north and slough sharks in the south. Cheers from a few hours east on #17:)

    • @OpenAirOutdoors
      @OpenAirOutdoors  5 місяців тому

      slough sharks! Thats a new one on me😆 You must have seen a lot of remote areas out there, along with no shortage of black flies!

      @@OpenAirOutdoors lotsa remote locations and bugs for sure. So many lakes and great fishing after work. Some walleye but really big lakers and pike. Grayling too in some rivers. Waterbury and Wollaston Lake are favourites to remember.

    Awesome trip !! I think you found a good name for that lake lol, fish sticks :) You moved on & camped where the Pike fishing was awesome ! I was waiting for a fish fry " I have a favorite lake where I fish for big Pike up to 25lbs & it's not a very bid lake, My every June fishing trip :))

      It sure is fun to have a lake that always produces doesn't it! Only the females get really big so technically all pike lakes have big ones. I'll be going back to Secret Lake right after ice out and try my luck at some big girls👍 The fish fries and plentyful on my channel, there will more to come!
      Thanks for coming over and hanging out✌️

    That's too bad you couldn't find a decent spot to set up camp on Fishstick Lake. But your go to spot came through for ya.
    I wanna do the same thing. There is a small lake I've spotted on Google maps in the middle of nowhere. I can only walk in, though, with no kayak. But I just have to see it with my own eyes.
