Such an underrated country. Had the pleasure to travel through it a couple of times. Staying in the mountains with rolling thunder through the nights. Next time will be a fishing trip for sure.

Yes early spring/summer is a very good time there but expect a few more people. There are different rules depending on where you’re fishing so best to look them up, we always catch and release.
Anyone notice that absolute pig swimming behind the hooked trout at 2:47? Going to be in the balkans this summer, might need to go north to check these waters out.

Thanks, it was. We didn’t book through a company or use a guide. Flights and accommodation are very reasonable depending on where you are flying from of course. Flights booked direct and accommodation was an Airbnb. The river was right on our doorstep, we did have a hire car for visiting other parts of the country though. The only contact we had was with the agency who supply the fishing permits, very helpful and even had them delivered to a local hotel for us to collect.
Best fly fishing in Europe imho. So many rivers to chose from, it is unreal..Idrijca and Savinja is where my heart is.

good spot, we all saw it at the time. If you look at the far bank in that clip you can make out Ben who is spotting and had a perfect view of it

All the rivers we fished are named at the beginning of each day. We fished the Socâ, Lepena, koritnica, Radovna and Unica.
