I never would have thought there would have been ice! It had been such a warm February for us. Looks like you guys really made the best of it, can't complain about an island all to yourselves. :)
I totally got the Ontario vibes at the beginning I forgot this was in BC lol! Like the western half of Ontario, it's a completely different province up there, much easier to escape the cottages, but much harder to go to town for groceries! I spent a few months in Kenora district 2 summers ago it was so epic, the wildlife, the fishing... When you said canoeing the Yukon with dogs I knew it was gonna be Canoe the North 😂 love them.
Right?! And of course, we love northern Ontario. We will be back to do some trips hopefully in the fall! Would love to do Nipigon or some trips around Superior.. Canoeing the Yukon River wasn't on our list of to-do's but it definitely is now ! Haha thanks again for being here. Cheers
This video came up in my feed this morning. Why am I just finding out about you guys now? lol Your pup is gorgeous! I would die to see Elk on a trip, that was pretty epic. And I agree that that route had an Ontario vibe to it. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to scrolling through the rest of your videos. Cheers, Rob.
Hey Rob, that's awesome man, thanks for tuning in! Going to check out your Algonquin trip at some point this weekend. As beautiful as it is out here I've been eager to do a big Algonquin portage trip soon. The elk were super cool, pretty large creatures when you're in close proximity. Cheers 🍻
Beautiful scenery all around and very enjoyable. Campsite with the fireplace, peaceful and romantic. Love this video ❤ Stay Safe and Healthy ALOHA From Hawaii ❤❤
Great video guys! just subscribed to your channel. Welcome to the Island! That canoe route is on our bucket list. fyi when the weather warms up, it gets very busy. There is also another canoe route over in Powell river. Cheers, Greg and Erin
Thanks guys ! Appreciate that. I've heard that about the route.. that's why we attempted it in February.. but we picked the weekend after that cold sunny week we had a while back haha. We took the ferry to Powell a few months ago and noticed a whole bunch of trucks with canoes on the roof, then realized there's a pretty sweet route to do over there.. so now that's on our list as well ! So many adventures.. so little time lol thanks for watching. Cheers !
Best part about living in a rainforest haha you can canoe in every season (well, for the most part... The ice shows up every once in a while..) thanks for watching !
Sorry to see you couldn’t complete your journey. We camp in that area often. Nice seeing the Vancouver Island Roosevelt elk too. We often see them as well. Hope you get to try that route again. Hugs to Diesel!
Hey adventurers, Great seeing that you made another video. Keep em coming! By the way, what are the names of the songs at the end? How is Diesel's foot?
Hey man ! Welcome back. The song at the end is Five Tribes by Hunter Quinn. Diesel is great, foot was fine, we think he just cut it a little bit on some of the ice but he was more so just being a big baby about it lol... Cheers Brandon!
Quite the adventure, with an elk siting to boot!!! Awesome!!! Looking forward to seeing the whole trip when it's a little warmer. I recognized the one song for other videos, are any of the other background tunes yours?
Hey man! Currently, I use a website with copyright free music for our videos, but I would like to start recording my own stuff in the future... Of course I had all the gear before but it went onto Marketplace before we moved a couple years ago haha. Cheers !
It's the adversities we face that make it an adventure & look at what a great island paradise you found ❤️ btw... canoe the north is another one of my favorite channels 😉 you should check out lost lakes if you haven't, also another great channel. I love your channel & look forward to more canoe trips to come 👍
Absolutely! Love those channels. They've actually been big inspirations behind our backcountry canoe videos! After watching Jon's videos, we're especially excited to paddle more of the Ontario lakes we hadn't had the chance to do when we lived there :)
I crashed my Mavic Mini a handful of times. Once across a river in the rain like you, and once I got it fully submerged in a creek. Dried it out both times, and it worked totally mint. It finally met it's demise when I flew it straight to the bottom of Slocan Lake. That's a great place for a canoe trip too, if you're looking for ideas.
We will definitely look into Slocan Lake.. hopefully it won't be where our drone also meets it's demise 😅. Can't believe how resilient those things are!
Proceeding into deteriorating conditions is a real thing; that is how some people die. Turning back was a good idea.
Agreed! Safety is a priority. Thanks for watching
So glad to find your channel!! Love your vlogging style! Thanks for sharing your journey with us! 💚💚Jul and family
We're glad you found us ! Thank you for saying that ☺️. Lots more adventures to come !

You guys are welcome to borrow Big Red and stay on WayofTheRoad island if you'd like anytime ! We are stoked for Sunday for the TrailsofRoo debut !
I'm previously from Ontario as well. This trip did have the cottage country feel. It made me miss home a little bit.
Right?! We're excited to be back there late fall for some camping trips
Very cool video guys, thanks for sharing... Also, both of you make such a good looking couple :) ... Sending out best wishes from Oakville.
Appreciate that Nomi! Thanks for watching ❤️.
