Canoe Camping & Fishing Amidst Fire Ban Season
Very good friend, I used to fry a lot of fish when I went fishing, I lived for 20 years on the seashore. Vegetable shortening will always be the best option, when you are away from home it is always better to use a powdered and dry capeador, to give it the flavor I always added oregano, ground onion, dehydrated garlic or ground rosemary to the powder, I love rosemary. Over the years you become selective about the dishes you use for cooking and even though they are old, you continue using them. BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR COMPANION MY GREAT FRIEND.
Great spot, awesome fish. Thanks for sharing
And thank you for stopping in my friend✌️
Some of the guys around here are trying to have a fish fry without fish. Not catching much. Thank you for sharing this with us, Marc. You and Doug stay safe and stay cool
Sometimes that is how it goes! I have had great luck all summer, can't complain! Thanks Sean✌️
Great tip Marc - neat little stove set up and that’s a nice sized bass for northern ON! Thanks eh - cheers
The stove is a good one! And the bass was 5lb+ all day long and here in the north they are good to eat not having worms or parasites! Thanks for joining Ed✌️
I add a little butter to the shorting just before putting fish in
I like that! Awesome idea, thanks for sharing! And thanks for coming along ✌️
Nice work. Great adaptation. The fish looked tasty.
It was enjoyable you can count on that! Thanks John✌️
That fish looked delicious Marc! Growing up I watched my Mom cook with shortening all the time. Why have I never thought of it for camping??? Thanks for sharing!
Ya so did I! My mother always had Crisco in her kitchen. Thanks Andy✌️
Hell ya, this looks awesome!
Just like that walleye you've been catchin'👍 Thanks Dan✌️
lard is far better for you than any vegetable based oil
Vegetable shortening is disgusting and unhealthy
How's she goin'? That fish looked some good and Doug agrees!! Nice job Marc!! Take 'er easy!!
We had no issues putting it down😆 Thanks Mike✌️
Looked absolutely delicious 🤤 i appreciate you sharing the old school ways, i too follow such guidelines. Really liking the cooking videos my friend
You're very welcome Paul, I appreciate you stopping in✌️
Well done, gotta love those cold handle frying pans, I have 3 and never leave home without one.. You do a great job of explaining the process, I will leave the oil home next trip. I love that picture of the fish on the cedar bogs. Thanks for another great video, I for one appreciate your efforts and look forward to your new content.
Thanks so much Robin, it's always a pleasure having you come out! You hang on to those pans, many are looking for one! See you again Robin✌️
Marc I wish there was a third chair for me at your camp site. The fish looked wonderful!
Doug doesn't share very well so might be at a disadvantage 🤣 Thanks John ✌️
Great video Marc! Excellent information helpful to so many! You had a good assistant too 😂 Thanks Brother 🍻
My Sou Chef was a big help🤣 Thanks Doug🍻
I like that pan
Those antique Cold Handle are hard to beat! Thanks for coming out Michael✌️
Howdy Marc- I remember when we all cooked with shortening before the vegetable oil became the thing. In my growing up years my Mom never used cooking oil. I remember even when she used nothing but lard. Great video on cooking fish. God bless
Lard still remains the best in my books but now that requires a visit at the butcher to get it! Thanks Paul✌️
Great looking meal!🤝🏻
Thanks RL we get like kings✌️
Professional cooking in the back country. No fancy restaurant could do a better job! The fish looks amazing and your technique is really good. To enhance flavor without adding salt, there are many spices out there now-we like garlic and herb and Mrs. Dash for salt-free alternatives. If you don't mind the salt, Montreal steak spice really has a kick and is good on anything. Very good lessons here for cooking fish outside.
This summer I've been buying new flavours and some are really good, but my favourite still hasn't changed! Thanks Craig✌️
@@OpenAirOutdoors You're a great chef, Marc!👍👍👍
Hey Marc , great looking fish . Great tip on the shortening . I grew up on Crisco . 👍🏻
Cricso is what I was using, probably the most popular out there! Thanks Del✌️
Great tips, Marc. You do an excellent job explaining the process as well. One of my favourite videos of yours so far. Cheers.
Awesome! Thanks so much Daryl✌️
Nice to see Doug agrees to eat your cooking 😂 I prefer lard for the flavor.
Yes but you can't get it at the grocery stores anymore! It's a trip to the butcher to it now! Thanks Steve✌️
Now thats a proper fish fry! Only ever used Crisco shortening for camping as oil was a pita. Still on the lookout for a vintage cold handled fry pan like yours Marc. Thanks for this!
If your into Facebook, a "looking for" post can be productive! Thanks Mark✌️
Lmao imagine using factory byproduct
Hi Marc! My grandma always used Crisco Shortening for everything she fried. Some nice looking fish. You and Doug are always eating good on y'all outings. Great video, bud. Take care.
That's what I've been using this year, Doug is big on eating well🤣 Thanks Tracy✌️
Great tip! I started using lard this year.
Lard is the way to go! Unfortunately I have to go to a butcher shop for it. The local grocery store won't carry it! Thanks Rod✌️
Oh fishing in a solo canoe on a windy day!🫥 Its a tough slog but it looks like you nailed them regardless. Some beauty fish Marc. Thanks for sharing. Cheers stud! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
They were a bit on the small side but I really wanted my walleye that day😆 Thanks Tyler🍻
Cool.
Really interesting to watch thank you for taking the time to film the cabin sir thank you once again.
Thank you for watching Andrew, glad you enjoyed it! If you want to see more of the little cabin I did a camp out in it. See that here ua-cam.com/video/mCyuMT3kCv4/v-deo.html
Ok, the ursa packs will stop a beast from eating your food, but what will stop them from stomping your food into mush in anger?
@@richardjohnson4052 that’s right! By the time it’s done with that bag you have an uneatable mess! Thanks for hanging out ✌️
Hi Marc Thanks for coming by in Macau😉🤭 I do appreciate your presence Here i am now ...loves the place so peaceful
Hey thanks for the visit Juliana✌️
Made quick work of it Marc, nice job
Ya everything was nice and dry👍
The flys have been thick like pea soup with crackers this summer buddy 😂😂
Cool👍👍🙂
Looks like Lexie is taking over the bed. I guess you'll test your sleeping bag in the canoe. LOL
My dogs are always stealing my spot!!!😖
Beautiful buddy, nice feed too, now im starving
Sorry! I didn't meat to do that to you😆 Thanks buddy✌️
I guess I’m Bigfoot 🤣
A slight resemblance 🤔

Lets go with Samsquanch🤣
Looks like a nice bag. Storage is one of the most important things to keep your bag warm. Thank you for this, Marc. Stay safe and stay cool
Absolutely Sean!✌️
Marc, did Big Foot call into your camp and ask for a sleeping bag review?
No but he was looking to get fed!🤣
Keep up the hard work. It's paying off , stay tuned with fellow friends thirty two :>
Thanks my friend I appreciate it✌️
What type of tree is it on? I've only seen it on birch.
that is a Yellow Birch. They look really gnarly once they grow big!
That was an amazing looking fish fry, my friend. I still haven't hammock camped. I've always been a tent guy.
My fish fry are always amazing my friend😜 I'm a tent guy all the way but I do like to try new things! Take care John✌️
Good video Marc. You know I am a hammock person and I can only say that all of your short comings with hammock setup become easier as you build your routine. That paired with the right hammock and setup. I had one of those hammocks and they are a nightmare. Give a Hennessey Hammock a try and you will be sold.
Hey Dennis how's summer? I'm planning a short trip on September long and will give it another go at it then. I'll be a little more ready for it and hopefully it works out well! Good to see you again✌️
Wow friend. Thank you for showing me that incredibly beautiful place. Hammocks are widely used here in Mexico in the southeastern states: Tabasco, Quintana Roo, Yucatan and others. In some towns, they do not use the bed, only the hammock. This camp you did was great friend. BLESSINGS.
That’s cool! No beds!! I had fun trying this out and I’ll be doing it again in a few weeks. Next time I’ll be better prepared 👍 Take care Coyote ✌️
Shore lunch looked amazing! Doesn’t get any fresher than that. The hammock camping looked interested and Riley looked cozy. I just lost my cocker spaniel of 15 years, i will definitely have another, one day. Good video brother
So sorry for your loss Paul! It's always difficult loosing a family member! Thanks for checking in✌️
How's she goin'? Overall I'd say you had a great trip. But I have to agree with you about the hammock camping. I was thinking when you were setting up, you could pitch a tent in half the time. But at least you tried it and now you know. That fish fry looked some good Marc!! I'd say the bugs didn't even ruin this trip. The wind caused you some grief, but all in all, a nice get away!! Take 'er easy!!
That wind was a blessing in disguise as it helped with the bugs! The fish fry always hits the spot! And yes my tent goes up in a fraction of the time! Thanks Mike✌
what a great trip! can't believe you weren't toasty toasty with Riley snuggled in like that :)
Oh I was toasty! Riley actually sleeps hot so he shared😆 Thanks EC✌️
