    Such an excellent tutorial. I am so pleased i found your site on UA-cam. May i ask what aperture you are using.

    • @OliverHerbold
      @OliverHerbold  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you very much for your nice words Sarah.
      The aperture varies in the full range of f/2.8 to f/16. It all depends on the magnification factor of the scene (how close am I getting the lens to my subject) and whether I want as much in focus as possible or if I decide to use out of focus elements in the scene. For example, the Dandelion seeds are mostly shot with f/14 and the spring at the end only with f/4.5. Now that might not be the information you were hoping for but when you play around with different apertures, you will quickly get a feeling for how it affects the image.

  • @mark1hancock
    @mark1hancock 2 роки тому +1

    I have tried taking water drops on dandelion clocks before, but have never been able to get the reflections as clear as you have shown here.Is the answer the reflective background? I have only used non reflective backgrounds before.

    • @OliverHerbold
      @OliverHerbold  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mark, illumination is key for this type of work. If you want the droplets and a reflection in them crisp and clear, then the backdrop plays a crucial role indeed. Avoid direct light on the droplet and illuminate the backdrop directly. Also make sure you got the focus correct. I often miss it when I'm a bit sloppy and the results are ruined.
