Personally I think 3 scenes are very important for the film: 1. The dead puppy: we are emotional invested for John. 2. The reaction of Aurelio: we don't know John, but now we know he must be some badass or at least a good person a friend would punch an important criminal for. 3. The reaction of the father (especially the "Oh.": now we know to 100 % he is a guy even the really dangerous guys don't want as an enemy. Those are definitely the key moments in setting up the movie, the dog as you say, and then the other two show us to some extent who John is, and what he can do
Particularly, its being scheduled to be put down just because its breed is considered dangerous despite it being an otherwise friendly pup. Mirroring John Wick himself.
9:57 No, you're just fine. The opening sequence is designed to get you on John's side, no matter what happens. That it affected you so deeply, shows that you have a very kind heart.
I was truly worried I wouldn’t be able to continue after THAT 😭 but John Wicks motivation lit a fire inside of me! Thank you for your kind words, this movie was a traumatising and simultaneously wonderful experience? It’s very hard to put into words, all I can say is that I CAN’T WAIT to see more
@@CoyzyMovieNight Without giving away too much, there's a mirror maze sequence in Chapter 2 that gives Enter the Dragon a serious run for its money. We also get to see more of Winston (Ian McShane), and that's never a bad thing.
This movie is a masterclass in both action choreography and in storytelling. Chad Stahelski was one of the main stuntmen working with Keanu in The Matrix series, before directing this. His attention to detail reinvented the action scene and created the John Wick style of combat. The story telling is remarkable, built on a direct, minimalist script and a focus on world building using "show, don't tell." The different details and concepts of this world having an organized, underground crime world is carefully shown by the characters just living in it, and it is up to the viewer to figure out the context. Using gold coins as a currency built on favors or services, using dialog like "dinner reservations" with no explanation, the matter of fact conversation between John and the policeman... all of this makes the viewer that much more invested in the viewing. My favorite example is the limited exposition explaining the Continental as a safe haven. The idea is laid out briefly, then we see Willem Dafoe fire a shot to warn John, but he doesn't shoot Ms. Perkins... because he CAN'T. You can kill someone to defend yourself in the Continental, but he wasn't at risk, so if he shot her, he would violate the rules. The dog he picked at the end was scheduled to be put down the next day. The scene of him walking off with the dog at the end is the same spot he and his wife were at when she collapsed at the start.
This comment is so interesting, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of the story. We both truly went into this basically blind and I have to say - personally, this concept of the ‘criminal underworld’ is the most gripping part! I am so intrigued and excited to see more exploration of that. Danny is more of a fan than I am (Niamh) of action-style movies, but I have been blown away by the world-building that has been so subtly introduced in this first movie. I think it’s safe to say we are both VERY excited to see more of John Wick and his world. Thank you for your support!! ❤️
@@CoyzyMovieNight What'll really blow your mind about the hotels...is that part of the reason for their rules isn't just because criminals need a safe haven to chill. It's because they act as a front of legitimacy for all the criminal stuff that goes on. Like a bridge where the "normal" world and the criminal world can exchange goods and services. After all, it's not like they have their own power and water and such. They still use real civil services, and have to pay real money legitimately for them. The result of that, is that the hotels aren't JUST for the criminals...they are in fact for everyone. Normal people stay there too, which is part of the reason for the rules. What that means...is that a sufficiently wealthy family on a vacation could have their kids running and playing through the halls of a building full of the world's deadliest killers...and yet be safer there than they would be even in their on damn home. Which is just mind-blowingly ironic.
@@CoyzyMovieNightThis scene is actually meant, that the bad guys, have kicked the dead puppy to him, to see it at his first sight, when he awakes, very evil!!!
No the puppy crawled over to John. The blood trail. Dog is small they wouldn't of dragged it. They would of picked it up and layed it next to him because they had gloves on
Just as ‘Dinner Reservation’ was code for clean up, John Wick spared Francis the doorman security guard, because he gave John the code word for how many gunmen were protecting Iosef inside. The weight he lost is the number of gunmen inside. Always makes me wonder, if Viggo could have avoided all this if he had swallowed his pride and apologized, grovelled and begged for his son’s life. Or at the very least, promised to get his car back for him…The incredible Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist who played Viggo, sadly passed away about 6 years ago from lung cancer. RIP.
It wasn't about the car. Iosef took the last piece of his wife away from him. That couldn't be repaired. If it was ONLY the car, your scenario may have worked.
@@armynurseboyNever would have happened anyway as Viggo was never that kind of man. The way it ended was brilliant. Viggo making a phone call again, this time orchestrating a final battle he knew he could never win, but was the only way to end.
it occurred to me, recently, that Viggo should have gotten his son a room at the Continental - at least, until he figured out how to deal with the situation; but I guess it would be extremely likely he and his son were not welcome
You did what I’ve done, what my brothers and friends have done. The ‘what if’s’ or ‘if only’, in certain moments of the story. The alternative scenarios increasing with each sequel. John Wick is more than just an action film. It is almost Shakespearean in its tragedy. Whatever alternative scenarios we came up with it always comes back to that incredible scene with Viggo: “The way you got out, lying to yourself. That the past held no sway over the future. In the end, the lot of us are rewarded for our misdeeds…This life follows you. Clings to you. Infecting everyone who comes close to you. We are cursed, you and I.” All the characters aware that they are bound to their fates.
Just some facts about the movie: The puppy was next to John because she crawled with all her strength to die by his side Each of those coins have a value of $2000 - $5000 The reason John's friend (Willem Dafoe) accepts and asks " if the contract is exclusive " is to make sure no one harms John When Francis tells John how much weight he lost he is actually telling him how many guards are inside And the dog that John keeps at the end, on the clipboard on his kennel it actually read to be euthanised Really loved the reaction
The entire John Wick series gets better and better with each sequel. The mythology expands, the lighting, sets, and action get exponentially better. John Wick Chapter 4 will blow your mind!
The director for this movie was one of the stunt men Keanu worked with on the matrix movies and they wanted to make it as much about the action as possible. They kept the plot simple and didn't go dialogue heavy for the exposition so the movie just let's John wick show you who he is after the quick story Viggo told his son, thereby redefining the action movie genre in the process
It's interesting to look at the way they really relate the viewer to the character in this movie. Usually it's a lot of exposition, scenarios that feel familiar, we can relate to...but in this movie, it's very jarring. My favorite example...the dog's death lingers with the viewer more than it would in most movies because of the hard cut to the shovel going into the ground. It's just as unceremonious and abrupt as John being knocked out and waking up to his dog dead. The action does so much talking in this movie, but it's easy to overlook the editing and cinematography in general that just amplifies the effect of everything as well 😀
Strange thing is that Keanu actually went through something similar in that his fiancé first loss their child to being still born then she herself died in an accident in real life. He actually suffered these things and still agreed to portraying this familiarity in this film.
One of his sisters (Kim) was diagnosed with cancer in 1991 (the implied illness that killed his wife in this movie) and he used all of his money from Bill and Ted 2 to pay for her treatment. She was declared cancer free in 1995 but Keanu continues to donate almost 2 million USD to cancer research every year in her honor. His Total donations are over 50million USD
Viggo, "the bad guy" - aka the 'final boss', aka "Theon's" dad, is played by Mikael Nyqvist, a swedish actor. He's always been a great actor. Sadly he's no longer with us, as he passed away in 2017(lung cancer) at the age of 56. He was my favorite in this movie next to Keanu. (but then again I'm a bit partial as Mikael was a fellow countryman) He was also in one of the Mission Impossible movies with Tom Cruise (ghost protocol)
He was so good in this! Stole the show when on screen - we didn't realise until these comments that he is no longer with us. That's so sad, he was so young.
Keanu trained to do all the fighting and gunplay and as much of the driving as they'd allow him to do. So, yeah, he knows how to do all the stuff. He's also one of the nicest people on the planet, so that's even more epic.
Nice reaction guys. The guy who was working security at the club that John let leave, told John how much weight he had lost, was actually telling John how many bad guys were there. The dog that John took at the end, was due to be put down, there was a tag on his cage. Also that is actually Keanu's dog in real life. No spoilers from me but I will tell you that they get better and better. Great co-stars to come too.
You have to understand that no one is actually at John Wicks level, but rather he had been completely retired from that life for 5 years, and was truly out of “practice” … but he was still the best - a force to reckon with. You will learn more about John, and why the car was so important, and what has driven him, in the next movies. This is an amazing story and production. 👍 Great reaction.
I've seen countless reactions to this film and I must say yours is right at the top of my favorites. Brand new to your channel but the combination of genuine emotion and the keen attention to detail and nuance had me instantly hooked. Great work, really look forward to future uploads.
Thank you, we appreciate the support so much. We truly love movies and discussing and dissecting them. So it’s amazing to find a community who also enjoy that!
If you watch the DVD documentary, it mentions that NYC doesn't allow for car chase scenes on public roads. Thats why the car scene at the end was filmed on a private dock.
the reason why this and the other john wick films are soo good is because Mr. Keanu Reeves trained for over 4000 hours in hand to hand combat and weapon handling which is why the action sequences are soo good, when francis (the door security) mentions loosing 60 KG that is a code for how many guards are inside.
The Body count for this one is 77. 2nd one is 128. 3rd is 94. 4th is between 130 and 140! 👍👍👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤ The sign on the door of the dog cage at the end said the dog was scheduled to be put down, so John saved the dog!
Sweet trivia for you guys if you read these: But The actor who "killed" Daisy in the movie got so devastated over the scene himself that he actually got to adopt her - which always brighten my mood up when I see the scene again :)
When you realize John runs through the entire action of the film injured or otherwise not at his best and then reconsider Viggo's Baba Yaga speech in that context....
@@CoyzyMovieNight ...who gets a little assistance here & there! He's gven all the credit, but he has friends & assoc. who help to maintain that fearsome reputation! ;-)
Fun Fact: When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan. Interesting thing about Marcus (Willem Dafoe) , he asked Vigo if the contract is open or exclusive. Then Vigo replied it's open, because it needed to be done fast. A open contract means EVERYONE in the world will try to kill John Wick, meaning there is no reason for Marcus to betray John or try to put his own life in danger. An exclusive contract means there is just a certain people a.k.a assasins, best ones in the world, probably around 10-15 people trying to hunt him down.
Loved that fact about the pounds he's lost! Keanu Reaves is a great action actor and the fighting scenes in this were as good as I've seen in a movie. The effort definitely is worth it.
Both of your reactions are very genuine. I love watching reaction videos especially to this movie. I have to say you two did an excellent job. Please continue the series, you won't be disappointed. Congratulations and keep up the great work. You have a new subscriber.
John didn't show "mercy" to Perkins in the hotel. He just wanted to respect the Continental rules unless forced to break them (probably would if it was Iosef instead of Perkins). For one breaking them would make his quest for revenge extremely complicated and next is the fact that he respect Winston.
the whole thing, with finding out who Jonh really is, through the people that are scared of him, like mob bosses and henchmen, is more scary, than to see him kill people...
from the Internet: "While it is possible to use the measurements of the coins and the value per weight of gold to calculate how much one of them is worth in dollars (somewhere between $2,000 and $5,000), in the John Wick universe, the monetary value of the coins do not matter. The coins are metaphorical vessels that symbolizes a favor."
Great reaction. Just gonna add that Keanu Reeves really put in thousands of hours in firearms training, and it shows. His transitions, reloading, and weapon handling is truly impecable.
When vigo describes the bodies that John took out, he mentioned how insanely incredible that is. And how John made them what they are today. That's him giving John tremendous respect as you should. He would be considered the world's best assassin in this universe.
There's that respect & fear, but for some reason John repeatedly gets slapped across the face about how he "got out" to be w/ his wife before she died! It's mentioned all the time as if there was something disreputable about it! Someone help me! lol! ;-)
People miss this detail. Viggo's idea was to lure John to Marcus's house, where Perkins would ambush and kill John. But they didn't account for the hotel to interfere. The hotel lobby instead called and lured Perkins away, to her death, thus saving John's life, and afterwards Winston supplied the info about Viggo's location to John. Viggo wasn't being stupid by calling John, to tell him about Marcus.
Fun Fact: The candle wick was first invented in Egypt about 5,000 years ago by a priest named Jabari Wick. My cat swears this is true but he's had a lot of Red Bull today. 😸 Have a great weekend.
Most people on their first watch through miss that during the final shootout scene where Vigo’s right-hand man shoots at John (missing) and then laughs- he only had 1 bullet. That’s why Vigo tells him “good luck” before getting out of the car.
Keanu Reeves trained with US and British Special Forces to learn how to fight in close quarters and how to “Combat Reload” in the middle of a firefight. He spent 6 months training and learning everything for his role in the John Wick series.
Vigo created that ill-prepared, little monster! Spoiled is one thing, even entitled, but to follow someone home, assault them, kill his dog, & steal his car w/ impunity, Josef deserved anything that happened to him & his buds! The 300 other people in the vicinity just doing their jobs didn't deserve their fates! John's no hero! ;-)
This movie grabs people who are real human beings and watch it not realising about the dog by the throat. The real fury it inspires toward the inhuman dog killing monsters and the unrepentent joy they feel at their deaths. The worldbuilding in all these movies is intense, and we keep getting more details about the underground assassin's subculture. It's at the point now where almost the entire population in multiple countries are connected to that world!
I hope you watch the whole series. Each one gets more amazing. This series sets the bar for modern action movies. The coreo, the music, the lighting, cleverness and world building. There is nothing like it in modern action.
His car is actually a 1969 Mustang Mach 1. They just put the 429 trim on it. A real 429 boss is WAY too expensive to run through them like this movie does. Less than 900 were made in 1969. Perkins conducted business on Continental grounds. Bad ju-ju. The Continental manager takes care of these infractions. You have to admit, the old man went down fighting. Body count for John Wick in this movie. 77 on screen kills.
Several things. Keanu Reeves trained over 400 hour with Taran Butler of Taran tactical. A expert at 3gun combat style shooting sport. So everything you is proper gun handling. Including the 3 shots two in the chest one in the head. The conversation between Wick and Francis. According to Kevin Nash who played Francis. The amount of weight he said he lost was code fir how many men were inside waiting for Wick. Which is why Wick says "Impressive" I believe John doesn't want to kill Yosef in the bath house. He's installing fear into him. Making his remaining time hell. The dog kennel at the end is at a international shipping port. So the kennel is a quarantine for animals being brought into the US which requires a two week holding policy. This way illnesses like mad cow disease do not come in and sweep through the US animals
During the series you will see several references to the Matrix. The doctor is the Key Master in the Matrix series, I won't say any more, no spoilers. When John is walking away in the last scene he is walking past where Helen collapsed.
An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.
Fun little tidbit the lawyer/secretary guy is the "Mayhem like me" guy from the All-State car insurance commercials famous for his laugh and gets ironically killed with a car after giving his trademark laugh.
Such a rich, deep universe. My favorite thing about this movie is that everyone is relatable. Alfie is the rich kid who never had to work for it. His dad is a powerful man with a code, but also corrupt. John is a sympathetic assassin.
The henchman who threw him off the balcony and was evenly matched is one of the films creators , stunt/fight coordinator and Brandon Lees stunt double in the 90’s film, the crow . Chad Stahelski .
This series is incredible. Isn't it messed up that we don't care about any of the people killed, and that's it's all justified because they killed a puppy? I love it.
I subscribed to your channel originally for your Stranger Things reactions, which I have been enjoying immensely! I hadn’t realized that I had watched one of your reactions a while back, before I subscribed. This one! So, with new eyes, I had to watch it again. You guys are great! This one was a lot of fun too! I got to see the bloodthirsty side of the two of you. The “kill them all” attitude was a little surprising from Niamh though. Apparently, one should never cross that woman! As with the ST reactions, the editing of this one was spot on! You guys are so good at this! I have probably already watched your other John Wick reactions, but I may just have to see them again. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! Niamh here - it’s all in good fun, I’m just getting into the movie of course 😂 (also killing a dog really gets to me) we appreciate your support so much 💙
You should go watch how he trained for John Wick, He is REALY REALLY good in real life with firearms. And he did all of the fight scenes himself. Now you have to watch John Wick 2, which is literally him arriving at home with his new dog the same night.
Hey guys I just bumped into your channel and subscribed.... i loved the reaction. I cant wait for you to do the rest of the franchise. They keep getting better. The pit that he gets at the end is actually Keanu's dog
Great reaction and really well edited with judicious use of the circular cut outs overlaid on top of the film. A lot of fun to see you both put the pieces together and bounce off each other while watching.
Thank you so much for the support! Going into this almost blind was an insane experience. And as we both said *Niamh here* we are officially John Wick fans…. Revenge for this little puppy is not ENOUGH 💔 more death please…?
that scene where john stares into the guard’s eyes as he dies is not to “show off”, he’s looking at the irises, because a death can be faked, but irises can tell if a man is dead or not; it’s also why he goes for the torso first and then a final headshot - its to make sure they’re dead so there’s no unexpected attacks afterwards
There are 3 more John Wick movies and the spin off miniseries "The Continental", about the hotel, on Amazon Prime. And there is another spin off miniseries coming to Prime called Ballerina.
There’s a fan theory that Winston is John’s father-in-law. He’s the most interesting person in the series, for my money, and he sure knows how to rock an ascot. 😊
a dead dog is the perfect setup for a revenge plot. they plaid it perfectly into the hands of the audience. because lets be real. who's not going to side with the protagonist after a mobster kills his dog?
In their last conversation John says he believes that he can "get out" again...and Marcus says "do you really believe that?"...I think Marcus was contemplating "getting out" , hence helping him in order to get himself out...I haven't heard anyone else mention that , but I think that was the hidden thinking in the script.
John Wick (2014) is probably my personal favorite despite having three more parts of this franchise but the matter of fact I loved this movie is the storyline and the BGM and the vibe of getting revenge is so damn nice that it somehow connects you 👌🙌 The other parts of this franchise would only give you the vibes of SURVIVAL AND FIGHTING which might feel ok but not compared to the vibes of revenge 🔥 The dog killing scene and the red circle club scene with that BGM was amazing 😍 Loved your reaction especially the girl's reaction over every single scene 🫶
The lady at the continental hotel is not double jointed. If properly trained in the art of escape, anyone would be able to do that. They would practice dislocating their thumbs and the more the do it, their ligaments would stretch enough to where they can do it and put it back easily without pain.
the reason Mayhem, the Lawyer, laughs after shooting at John is either because the gun jams, because he isn't well-practiced as a shooter, or because the gun is empty after that shot because it's the same gun Viggo used to kill Marcus and he didn't reload since then
In all my years watching John wick and reactions I finally got “and the pen” it was telling us about him killing 3 people with a pencil! It was like a forewarning! My mind is blown 😮
"Is he going to gonna get into a massive fight over a car?" No, he's gonna get into a massive fight over John Wick's car. Very important difference. Important note about the toasting scene between Viggo and his son. In Russia, if two people toast to something and one person doesn't drink that shot, it means they don't agree with what they're toasting over. So by toasting with his son and then not drinking the shot poured for the toast, Viggo was actually giving warning to his son about what he was about to do. And with Viggo hugging his son, I believe there's a bit of importance with Viggo grabbing the back of his son's hair. In the olden days, a favorite assassination/murder tactic for Russian mobsters was to take their target into a hug before stabbing them in the base of the skull with an ice pick. While Viggo was going to try and protect his son, I believe by grabbing the back of the his hair, Viggo was emphasizing to Iosef that if he wasn't his son, he'd have killed him for John. That's all personal belief though. Even with New York's (I presume the first movie takes place in NY based on their use of NYC) draconian gun laws, even if the police had done anything about the shootout in John's house, he'd have been covered by castle doctrine. Meaning John was perfectly right to use lethal force. So even if Jimmy wanted to cause a fuss (though John likely would've killed him had he done so), there wasn't much he could get John on (with the assumption that John's guns were legal, even though we know they're likely not). Nah, John didn't kill Iosef in the bath because he wanted to put the fear of God into him. To know that John is coming for him and no where he goes will be safe.
When John is talking to Francis outside the club, he asks Francis how much weight he had lost. Francis responded by saying 27 kgs in Russian, which is roughly 60 pounds. There were 27 guards in the club watching Viggo's son. I've heard from some people that the actor accidentally said 20 kgs probably due to a mistranslation of the Russian words, but he meant to say 27 kgs.
Fun fact. All weapon skills keanu Reaves shows in the move are completely real. He trained for 6 months with navy seals for each movie. He even inspired a fast way of reloading that the navy seals use today. When he flicks the magazine out. He also donated part of his pay to give homeless people jobs for the film
One thing a lot of people miss is the cop's reaction...yes, the cops know exactly who John Wick is and what he does (or rather, what he used to do), hence the "Uhh...you workin' again?" question. They also know that, being retired, he's not going to do anything to anyone who doesn't deserve it, so if there's dead bodies in John Wick's house they came after him and they got what they deserved...and they ALSO know that there's no way they could stop him, so it's best to just keep themselves out of his crosshairs and leave him the hell alone.
That bouncer is Kevin Nash. A wrestler who is 7 feet tall. The respect of Thank You sir in awesome. He also tells John how many guards are in there with the weight loss comment.
Viggo and the guy from 2 get what they want and then they have to push it. They all get what they deserve in the end. Part 4 is incredible. Every one of these films made more money than the previous one.
As a bit of John's backstory hinted at, early in the movie he's taking a shower, and he has a US Marine Corps tattoo, so the implication is that he was in a Marine spec ops unit, and then at some point went independent.
The only spoiler I will give is... The dog he gets at the end of this movie is alive and well at the end of the 4th movie. I have seen people turned off of watching the other movies because they didn't want to see anything happen to the dog again.
As far as "who actually killed Daisy" I assumed it was the bathroom guy, because none of the other guys had face time, but i guess we don't really know?

I was truly worried I wouldn’t be able to continue after THAT 😭 but John Wicks motivation lit a fire inside of me! Thank you for your kind words, this movie was a traumatising and simultaneously wonderful experience? It’s very hard to put into words, all I can say is that I CAN’T WAIT to see more
@@CoyzyMovieNight Without giving away too much, there's a mirror maze sequence in Chapter 2 that gives Enter the Dragon a serious run for its money. We also get to see more of Winston (Ian McShane), and that's never a bad thing.
Nah she is just soft
You guys are about the only reactors who realized Marcus woke him up and did not just miss. Thank you.
The dog death is even sadder when you realize that it crawled over to John's unconscious body before it died.
yea i was thinkin that too or they threw the dogg over there afterwards so it would be the 1st thing he sees when he wakes up
Pls don’t make me cry again 🙂
@@CoyzyMovieNightThis scene is actually meant, that the bad guys, have kicked the dead puppy to him, to see it at his first sight, when he awakes, very evil!!!
It didn't. They dragged it over to him, cause they're mafia types.
@@armynurseboy the only real aspect of John, and the car, was that it had the picture of his wife in the glove compartment, and he wanted it!
Just some facts about the movie:
The puppy was next to John because she crawled with all her strength to die by his side
Each of those coins have a value of $2000 - $5000
The reason John's friend (Willem Dafoe) accepts and asks " if the contract is exclusive " is to make sure no one harms John
When Francis tells John how much weight he lost he is actually telling him how many guards are inside
And the dog that John keeps at the end, on the clipboard on his kennel it actually read to be euthanised
Really loved the reaction
The puppy didn't crawl. She was dragged over there by the thugs who'd killed her. They're wannabes, but they are also mafia.
@@vladyvhv9579 She wasn't dragged tho..she actually did crawl to John
In this movie, Willem Dafoe is actually Willem Dafriend
I see what you did there 😂😂😂
Yo that’s great 😂😂😂
The entire John Wick series gets better and better with each sequel. The mythology expands, the lighting, sets, and action get exponentially better. John Wick Chapter 4 will blow your mind!
No it doesn't. It gets more unbelievable
@@voodoochile333 - agree, still can't believe they bring back john's wife in the 4th movie and have her kill him
@@jeremylarson6267 😈👍
I really disagree they dont get worse in budget and quality but the story is the best in Wick 1 just like Matrix 1
Honestly I disagree. It's really just more violence with little plot. I like this one as a stand-alone. I rarely watch the others.
The action does so much talking in this movie, but it's easy to overlook the editing and cinematography in general that just amplifies the effect of everything as well 😀
@redthorne1129 yea it was some amazing work by everyone involved for sure.
Strange thing is that Keanu actually went through something similar in that his fiancé first loss their child to being still born then she herself died in an accident in real life. He actually suffered these things and still agreed to portraying this familiarity in this film.
That is so tragic 😢
He was also very prominent in the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series of movies.
Keanu trained to do all the fighting and gunplay and as much of the driving as they'd allow him to do. So, yeah, he knows how to do all the stuff. He's also one of the nicest people on the planet, so that's even more epic.
What a man!
Stories told about John Wick and his capabilities are an understatement.😳
So so good how they tell us what he can do through the fear of his enemies
49:05 John and dog walking past the place where John's wife collapsed before being taken to the hospital.
Didn't clock that, lovely callback 😢
He is in a league of his own! Thanks so much, glad you liked the reaction! 😊
That makes so much sense 😂
the reason why this and the other john wick films are soo good is because Mr. Keanu Reeves trained for over 4000 hours in hand to hand combat and weapon handling which is why the action sequences are soo good, when francis (the door security) mentions loosing 60 KG that is a code for how many guards are inside.
The effort absolutely paid off! The action sequences were incredible!
Why did you decide to use 4,000 hours? Next time you make up something stupid do your best to try to make it slightly believable.
Wow 😮
Sweet trivia for you guys if you read these: But The actor who "killed" Daisy in the movie got so devastated over the scene himself that he actually got to adopt her - which always brighten my mood up when I see the scene again :)
No he didn't adopt Andy the friend of the dog trainer adopted him not the actor who killed Daisy
Loved her reaction to the puppy’s death. And what she wanted to happen. As a John Wick fan I loved it.
When you realize John runs through the entire action of the film injured or otherwise not at his best and then reconsider Viggo's Baba Yaga speech in that context....
He is an unstoppable force
@@CoyzyMovieNight ...who gets a little assistance here & there! He's gven all the credit, but he has friends & assoc. who help to maintain that fearsome reputation! ;-)
Fun Fact:
When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds".
It's crazy to think that a single dog set in motion a sequence of events that destroyed an entire crime family and eventually a secret organization.
Crazy and entirely justified! 😂
Both of your reactions are very genuine. I love watching reaction videos especially to this movie. I have to say you two did an excellent job. Please continue the series, you won't be disappointed. Congratulations and keep up the great work. You have a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for the support 🥲 we will definitely be continuing with the series!!! ❤️
John didn't show "mercy" to Perkins in the hotel. He just wanted to respect the Continental rules unless forced to break them (probably would if it was Iosef instead of Perkins). For one breaking them would make his quest for revenge extremely complicated and next is the fact that he respect Winston.
Ok - that makes sense
If you notice, John pulls the knife in where he had already been stabbed which minimized the damage and gave him control.
Boss move right there!
the whole thing, with finding out who Jonh really is, through the people that are scared of him, like mob bosses and henchmen, is more scary, than to see him kill people...
So so true!
from the Internet: "While it is possible to use the measurements of the coins and the value per weight of gold to calculate how much one of them is worth in dollars (somewhere between $2,000 and $5,000), in the John Wick universe, the monetary value of the coins do not matter. The coins are metaphorical vessels that symbolizes a favor."
So interesting!
Great reaction. Just gonna add that Keanu Reeves really put in thousands of hours in firearms training, and it shows. His transitions, reloading, and weapon handling is truly impecable.
You might be the only reacters I've seen so far who realized early on that Marcus was actually trying to help John!
When vigo describes the bodies that John took out, he mentioned how insanely incredible that is. And how John made them what they are today. That's him giving John tremendous respect as you should. He would be considered the world's best assassin in this universe.
I loved that they showed us John's power through the fear of his enemies
@@CoyzyMovieNightwell said
There's that respect & fear, but for some reason John repeatedly gets slapped across the face about how he "got out" to be w/ his wife before she died!
You are right we did miss this but it makes so much sense! Thanks!
Fun Fact: The candle wick was first invented in Egypt about 5,000 years ago by a priest named Jabari Wick. My cat swears this is true but he's had a lot of Red Bull today. 😸 Have a great weekend.
John Wick = Cats = Pets = Justice, makes sense to me 🤷♀️
Most people on their first watch through miss that during the final shootout scene where Vigo’s right-hand man shoots at John (missing) and then laughs- he only had 1 bullet. That’s why Vigo tells him “good luck” before getting out of the car.
He tried his best anyway 😂
Keanu Reeves trained with US and British Special Forces to learn how to fight in close quarters and how to “Combat Reload” in the middle of a firefight. He spent 6 months training and learning everything for his role in the John Wick series.
Absolutely paid off! The action scenes were incredible!
I like how Vigo serves his son the cheap stuff so he'll feel the burn throwing it up then pours himself the expensive stuff lol
So heartbreaking! 😢 Loved the worldbuilding so much! Can't wait for the next one!
I hope you watch the whole series. Each one gets more amazing. This series sets the bar for modern action movies. The coreo, the music, the lighting, cleverness and world building. There is nothing like it in modern action.
We definitely will! Can't wait!
Wow no wonder they wanted that car 😂
Thanks for this! Some really interesting details!
During the series you will see several references to the Matrix. The doctor is the Key Master in the Matrix series, I won't say any more, no spoilers.
When John is walking away in the last scene he is walking past where Helen collapsed.
Ok interesting 😮
Such a good introduction scene where Vigo tells Joseph just how badly he’d screwed up.
Loved it! It's the first time we the audience realise how capable John Wick truly is
Finally a reaction video where the movie can actually been seen and not too much talking!!! And skipping etc. subscribed lol
Wow! So cool!
Every great action movie: avenge the wife, the dog, or the buddy.

You guys gotta do the rest now. Complete the series. Great reaction
that scene where john stares into the guard’s eyes as he dies is not to “show off”, he’s looking at the irises, because a death can be faked, but irises can tell if a man is dead or not; it’s also why he goes for the torso first and then a final headshot - its to make sure they’re dead so there’s no unexpected attacks afterwards
Loved the reaction!! Eagerly waiting for next John Wick parts, I guarantee it just gets better 😊

That guy that gave John Wick such a good fight in the club and at the church is Chad on the movie set they call him the Director
This movie does such a good job of making sure that no matter what John does to the bad guys you are on board.
a dead dog is the perfect setup for a revenge plot. they plaid it perfectly into the hands of the audience. because lets be real. who's not going to side with the protagonist after a mobster kills his dog?

In their last conversation John says he believes that he can "get out" again...and Marcus says "do you really believe that?"...I think Marcus was contemplating "getting out" , hence helping him in order to get himself out...I haven't heard anyone else mention that , but I think that was the hidden thinking in the script.
Marcus deserved better 😢

John Wick (2014) is probably my personal favorite despite having three more parts of this franchise but the matter of fact I loved this movie is the storyline and the BGM and the vibe of getting revenge is so damn nice that it somehow connects you 👌🙌
The other parts of this franchise would only give you the vibes of SURVIVAL AND FIGHTING which might feel ok but not compared to the vibes of revenge 🔥
The dog killing scene and the red circle club scene with that BGM was amazing 😍
Loved your reaction especially the girl's reaction over every single scene 🫶
The lady at the continental hotel is not double jointed. If properly trained in the art of escape, anyone would be able to do that. They would practice dislocating their thumbs and the more the do it, their ligaments would stretch enough to where they can do it and put it back easily without pain.
I think the last scene is the same place where his wife collapsed. Fantastic film.
the reason Mayhem, the Lawyer, laughs after shooting at John is either because the gun jams, because he isn't well-practiced as a shooter, or because the gun is empty after that shot because it's the same gun Viggo used to kill Marcus and he didn't reload since then
Regardless, he knew he was done 😂
In all my years watching John wick and reactions I finally got “and the pen” it was telling us about him killing 3 people with a pencil! It was like a forewarning! My mind is blown 😮

😂
"Is he going to gonna get into a massive fight over a car?"
No, he's gonna get into a massive fight over John Wick's car.
Such an interesting detail!
Fun fact. All weapon skills keanu Reaves shows in the move are completely real. He trained for 6 months with navy seals for each movie. He even inspired a fast way of reloading that the navy seals use today. When he flicks the magazine out. He also donated part of his pay to give homeless people jobs for the film
He trained with Taran Tactical, the school that also trains SEALs occasionally
@@parallax3d I swear he did
Totally worth the extra effort - the action sequences were incredible!
I love that Kevin Nash is in this
That bouncer is Kevin Nash.
John let Francis go because the 28 kg was the number of armed men in the club. John repaid the info with his life.
Did not catch this but another really cool detail!
As a bit of John's backstory hinted at, early in the movie he's taking a shower, and he has a US Marine Corps tattoo, so the implication is that he was in a Marine spec ops unit, and then at some point went independent.
“What about that girl who killed that lovely man? That lovely criminal man?” Had me dying. 😂😂😂 subbed
The only spoiler I will give is... The dog he gets at the end of this movie is alive and well at the end of the 4th movie. I have seen people turned off of watching the other movies because they didn't want to see anything happen to the dog again.
Oh thank god!
As far as "who actually killed Daisy" I assumed it was the bathroom guy, because none of the other guys had face time, but i guess we don't really know?
Whoever it was, he's dead now 😂
