The fun thing about Mark Hamill playing the kidnapping victim being rescued when the story begins is that in the comics the kidnapping victim is *actually* Mark Hamill rather than some scientist.

@@TheChiraagG I know! I actually can't stand it when other reactors either cut the line out from the edit (which I guess I can understand lol) or just use the version without the line at all. The line comes out of left field and is so jarring, it's literally perfect as a joke and "wtf" moment.

I love the way Kingsman move when they fight. One thing that I can never get off my mind is that, Eggsy was able to help his mom protect her child. Makes me worry about what happened to all the other children who's parents did not get the memo :(
Eggsys martini order is basically the exact opposite of how Bond orders his.
Which means Eggsy actually knows how to order a martini
This reminds me that Mark Hamill said that because he didn't have to worry about what he looked like working as a voice actor, he let himself go, but after he got into shape to play Luke Skywalker again in "The Force Awakens," everyone was telling him "You look so great!" He said hat made him think "I must have really looked awful before." When I heard him say that, I couldn't help thinking "Did you SEE what you looked like in 'Kingsmen'?"

The moment Harry briefly comes around midway through the church fight, is because of the grenade. When it went off, the ringing of his ears stopped the signal enough for him to come back briefly before getting affected again. I watched this last night on blurry, so the look on my face when I saw this on my YT feed this morning 😄 great reaction guys 👍👏

As to "Why no other Kingsman agents in the finale": After Eggsy survives Arthur's murder attempt and takes the implant to Merlin, Merlin states that he doesn't know who (if any) among the other Kingsmen agents they can trust, and who might have gone over to Valentine's side. That's why he says they'll have to take care of it themselves. (They do also bring Roxy/Lancelot into it, _I assume_ because she's brand new and would have had a thorough physical examination recently enough that she couldn't have been chipped in the interim.)
ahh but the graphic novel that the film is based on has all the recruits storming the base..so was more realistic than eggsy doing it alone
And icydk: it was Valentine who wanted Arthur to poison anyone else who knows about Valentine's plan believing Harry told someone.
40:48 Mark Strong usually plays bad guys, especially in these kinds of films. So it was a nice change of pace for him to be one of the heroes.
Eggsy calling Merlin Mycroft was a nice call back to Sherlock Holmes where he played the villain :)
The Kingsman reactor drinking game: 1) When someone shouts 'Parkour!'
This movie is a sign they can still make good movies. They hit the nail on the head so hard in this one. Loved every second of it.
Unfortunately, the sequel to this movie was a sign that idiot movie execs will always take a good thing, completely fuck it up, and turn it into a steaming pile of garbage.

@@TennSevenidk, did Matthew Vaughn reveal anything recently? I seem to recall him being pretty defensive of the sequel both at release and when the equally bad third movie arrived. I got the feeling he just didn't really understand what we liked about the first one or he was so hellbent to not do the same thing that he didn't realize how bad it was.
@@RimshotKiller Third one is a prequel about the founding members, set during events leading to the first World War.
I liked the whole series, but the first was definitely one of those "catch lightning in a bottle" moments. It was all the right factors coming together in the right place at the right time, and couldn't be replicated.

The other Kingsmen were not approached for the final mission against Valentine because, as Merlin said when Eggsy brought the chip to Merlin and Roxy, there was no way to know who in the organization had been compromised.
Samuel L. Jackson talked with a lisp growing up before he went into acting. He brought it back (and exaggerated it) because he thought it would be a nice quirk to give to the character of Valentine, so yes, the lisp was Jackson's idea.
You two are so cute. It's like the dirtier you try to be, the more wholesome you come off.

One of the funniest easter eggs I read for this movie is that the code Eggsy typed in to open the princess's cell, the letters spell a-n-a-l.

I actually didn't catch that at first but yes, the explosion knocked out his hearing for a moment which is why he was seemed to be awake for a moment until his hearing came back and he resumed to destroy everyone.
Don't know if you noticed, but while dying Arthur seems to revert to a lower class accent in his final words as he curses at Eggsy possibly implying that his origins were not as upper class as they appeared.
Who knew head explosions could be so beautiful?

Valehy is a car parker. Valet is a personal assistant, and may also be the manager of a staff of butlers
The choreography and shot direction is so good! The use of oners (long takes) and still cameras so you can actually see whats happening instead of excessive shakey cam and cuts makes it so thrilling and builds so much tension and then poking fun at all the spy movie cliche makes this movie so much fun and unique
Oxfords not Brogues is referring to dress shoes. Oxford style shoes without the fancy Brogue detailing. Plain Oxfords. A good enough code phrase if you're calling spies working out of a suit shop.

Another reason perhaps that brogues are somewhat frowned upon is their association with teenage yob culture (skinheads etc) in the UK back in the 1970's. But to be cool they had to be the correct style of brogueing. It had to be longwing (sometimes called American) style that went all the way to the back seam of the shoe. I had several pairs of brogues in my teen years in the Seventies. Usually worn with Levi Stayprest trousers, Ben Sherman shirts and a Harrington jacket. Aaaah, happy days...
Merlin said, he didnt want to bring anyone else in because he did not know who if any other kingsman came under Valentine's thumb. So he just used the newbees.

The lisp was Sam J's idea. Director was against it, but he was convinced. Valet and Valet(sounds Valay) are spelled the same but pronounced differently for the job. Valet is like an assistant, Valet (valay) parks your car.

I love the church fight scene absolutely brilliant but I also love the heads exploding because I can hear that music without going full MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE as that's his entrance music. Good movie Kingsmen.
As a double amputee myself, I’d love to have prosthetics like the ninja lady had. Although, I’d probably end up hurting myself messing around with them😂
Also they wouldn’t actually work for me either way because my injury and amputation is different from hers, but it’s fun to think about.
Also, my favorite Kingsman is definitely Merlin. As the tech and gadget guy that’s right up my alley. As for my favorite gadget I’d say either the taser ring or the umbrella. Both seem incredibly useful and practical. I’d probably go with the ring just out of practicality since I rarely use an umbrella, but the umbrella would definitely be useful in more situations than the ring. If the umbrella was more compact then I’d totally go for it.

The actor Sam Jackson actually has a stutter he spent years working to get rid of, thus he loved over playing it for this film.
A cracking movie, and a marvellous reaction as ever, you both never fail to raise a smile for me!
And as a former gentlemans outfitter, I would always recommend plain Oxfords over the fussiness of any shoe with broguing. Note - Oxfords can have broguing while remaining Oxfords, It's all about the simplicity of the closed lacing. I guess I'm probably a footwear snob.

@@The.Android Yes, he's incorrect - evidently the scriptwriters didn't do their research. An Oxford has a closed throat line where it meets the vamp, whereas a derby style (usually known as the brogue) has a distinct flared cutout. The Oxford has a much neater, more formal style. It can be a little more restrictive if you're not used to closed lacing, but looks far better in a professional environment. Still a great line, nonetheless.

the second film is so underrated. not as good as the first but i still think the first 2 films make for a solid pairing with the third being a bit too much of a nice thing lol. none of them are bad in my opinion tho. but u can definitely feel the "these are getting sequels because theyre making money" vibe by the end of the 3rd film.
The only movie I’ve seen in the theatre where the audience applauded at the end credits. Love it
First film is the best, second the weakest but the prequel is actually pretty good. Another great Matthew Vaughn film is Stardust.
I don’t get the hate that golden circle gets. I think golden circle has a much more engaging villain, better plot twists and the final fight scene is my favourite in the whole series. I struggled to watch the third as I found it really boring for a lot of the movie, the Rasputin fight scene was good though and the sudden death of a certain character was a great part of the story.
I’d rank second ahead of the first (only slightly, feels like it captures the light-hearted/cartoonish spy film vibe better than the first) and the third last which I feel tried to lean too hard into a serious drama spy film with some zany characters which kinda muddied the charm of the first two.

As Colin Firth is a military officer he dresses correctly by being in a suit and carrying an umbrella he should of had a bowler hat as that's the correct dress code for gentleman in London

Watch the second movie and you see the North American version of the Kingman. Favorite gadget, all of them. Mark Strong playing a good guy for a change was my favorite Kingman. The second is a little sicker in my opinion too.

Hello Mr. & Mrs. Movies!😊 I did like the first two films a lot, but the third film (prequel) just wasn't my cup of tea.🍵 Sofia Boutella (Gazelle) is highly experienced in many forms of dance which came in use here. Because the Michael Caine character was compromised they could not trust the other Kingsmen. The sequel has more humor, Mrs. Movies. The lisp was Samuel L. Jackson's idea and partially inspired by Englishman Jonathan Ross. Great reactions to your very first Kingman's movie, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
You can count the bullets based on what gun every character is using and they all run out after the correct amount of shots. For example vigos American assistant guy who takes his gun and only shoots at John only once that was because vigo used the rest of the bullets in the magazine when he shot Marcus.
My favorite part is the end with the princess, wait not for the reason you might think. Usually in these types of movies if there's a love interest she's either the person our hero has to save or she's someone who joins him during his journey so if this was like any of those movies Roxy would become the love interest. The princess on the other hand normally would be the type of character like an innocent bystander who the hero saves and she's so grateful she wants to thank him personally 😉, but either we never see her again or even if the hero tries to cash in on the offer towards the end he's usually incapacitated and misses his chance. At the end when the princess makes her offer if he saves the world, not surprised. Our hero goes off to cash in, not surprised. The hero being thwarted by a locked door, not surprised, usually the scene would just go to black and move on, but unlocking the door and actually cashing it with no interference whatsoever, very surprised, even in Bond movies where he hooks up with just about every girl he meets ( the one he's with in the beginning, the good and the bad girl and usually a side girl he meets along the way ), he'll hook up with a side girl somewhere in the middle and always end with the main girl who's been there most of part of the time, I can't think of any other action movie where a side girl got picked over the main one.

As far as real world tests, that are messed up. U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret's) Medics course ( I don't know if this is still done) As a recruit you will be given a baby goat to raise and take care of. If the baby goat gets sick, you will have to make sure the baby goat gets well. Now one of the last tests in the medics course. Is that the instructors collect all of the recruits baby goats. Then put the baby goats into a coral. Then the instructors use gasoline, firearms, and fragmentation grenades on the baby goats. The recruits then have to go and try to save the baby goats.
Most recruits will come love their baby goat just like any other pet. This test is designed to put in the recruits under similar stress. As working on a teammate who is wounded in combat. Or have to try to save a teammate who you know is going to die. It's a brutal test, but it works. Eventually all of the baby goats will be either put down or die from their injuries.

I remember seeing this in the theaters, it was better than I was expecting.

To answer your question, yes Sam Jackson did want to add a lisp to his character to make it more villainous. I didn't enjoy it personally....but I get why he wanted to do it.
The church scene blew me away. Fantastic.
The sequel isn't as good as this one, but it's still worth a watch.
