    The proposed Voidwaker change is what I would expect if it were a free quest item like in RS2, not something that requires you to kill 3 wilderness bosses to assemble a single item lmao. If the change goes through it's basically just going to be a bougie DDS.

    The minimum hit changes also also affects those places with guaranteed max hits. They either nerf it to hit your new max hit (old-1) which can be problematic for those places where it can be tough to get the max you need to 1-hit mobs (colosseum, pnm, warden p2) or they don’t nerf it and now you have a confusing situation where your max hit changes when you have a guaranteed max.

      If it goes through like that, as it stands, I think 2 down warden in a 600 (8-man) becomes impossible which is what we did to get a >25 completion

    jagex buffing drop rate for nightmare in order to get more people there doesn't address the real problem. The slepey tablet takes ~20-25hrs to grind out at phosani's assuming no deaths and decently fast kills. Nobody wants to do a 25hr grind just to be able to not have to spend 4 minutes running to the boss, all they have to do is make the tablet more common and more players will be at nightmare.

      The low level versions of the wildy bosses were never supposed to be good. You are supposed to go to multi to get amazing loot. Now it's actually closer to how it should be, but Jagex is probably gonna go back on the voidwaker change anyway.

    Someone ran the numbers and vw would be like 54% accurate on kephri @400, and at most 80% in other use cases. Completely dead item if the changes go through lmao. And nerfing mid game magic where it's already the weakest is such a bad move.

      I'm a mid-game iron stuck in the hell of not being able to get purples in team raids because my mage gear sucks, and not being able to solo effectively because I don't have mage dps. I was already on a break from the game, this is going to make me actually cancel membership.

      @@colinmarshall6634 mid game iron gets buffed by the magic changes. occult is a 93 slayer req, every iron with lower slayer just got a max hit to help them barrage their slayer up to occult. once you get the occult you won't lose any max hits. I'm sure its frustrating, but run a dps calc and youll see it changes nothing for you and you dont have to rage cancel your membership lol

    Nerf of occult really hurts mid level and lower risk activities in wilderness. There is no staff equivalent to AGS (massive max hit) or dragon crossbow (range and hits 35+) for magic. To make it viable it requires a staff already and an occult. Spreading that DPS to robes unbalances the risk/reward for magic so much. Pures and zerks, weeks after we considered chivalry to make them more viable, are nerfed without augury. Really unhappy with this

      This really, really screws over mid-game irons too. We basically can't raid with mains anymore. 250 invo TOA is already equal purp rate for me as getting carried by shadows in 410 invo TOA. This basically requires irons to solo TOA until we get a fang now.

    about removing zeros from a successful hit jagex could just replace any zero rolls to a one, so instead of rolling between 1-max hit-1 it rolls from 0-max hit but every zero = one (effectively 2 ones on the dice roll), this would not impact current dps/kph that much at mid/late/end game but would feel much better for early game players hitting 1s non stop. a similar concept to cursed dices in tabletop rpgs, but in the case of runescape its a blessing

    The mage changes are a very minor upgrade in the early game, the extreme late game, or VERY damaging everywhere else. If you are max everything mage, you're good. No change. Early game, you get Dagon Hai and you're smiling at the extra 1 max hit. EVERYWHERE else, you're getting a significant hit on dps. If you don't have a shadow, your mage dps is just degrading more and more. What was the thought process here? You simply nerf the worst of the combat triangle even more.

      "everywhere else" no, you're most likely not going to be losing any dps. if you're using ahrims/occult/augury, you're losing 2% mage str which isn't even a max hit in most cases. this is such a non issue and you guys are so butthurt for literally zero reason. all this update is going to do is give dead/unused mage content some life.

    The voidwaker change is worst then that, its by far the current meta option in pvp with really no competition apart from AGS in NH style fights but they of course are nerfing that. This keeps it BIS for pvp in all scenarios which is a problem makes the scene very stale with 1 meta. My opinion is if they want to touch the VW make it 55% special attack like it was back in the day.

    I don't understand why they don't just buff the older gear that's not being used like they did scythe instead of changing stats for every NPC in the game. Obviously everything doesn't need to be meta at its own place. Just change stats for items that should be useful like blade of saladdressing or rapier or whatever. It's a lot more simpler that way changing the stats of dead content to make it worth using again to modern standards

    I've played runescape since I was 6 in 2000 and project rebalance is only the second thing that has ever made me quit with the other being EOC. I've taken plenty of breaks before but always knew I was likely to return and wouldn't even bother cancelling membership. I was just coming back from a few month break and it's frustrating to see they took the game in a direction where they let such a small but vocal part of our community make changes with many of these changes being much more than minor tweeks for the sake of rebalancing. They no longer even have the forums so unless you are a reddit user there is no way to voice your displeasure. None of the changes are the issue and if the big ones were passing polls I would stay even if I didn't like them but to add things like elemental weaknesses which is a fundamental change to how combat functions and say that that is just a "rebalance" is honestly insulting. The thing that set this game apart was how community driven it was and they've seeming completely lost sight of that.

    Outdated Video, buffs to ahrims has been made as well as other mage items (notably eternals now get 2%)

If they make it so you never hit a 0 than the added crush accuracy of maul is useless to. let’s be honest this game is all dps so maul will never be used unless it has a good effect.

      Like a basic aoe attack that minutely lowers defense (some, almost negligible number)

      It could scale similar to tbow but against defence level or crush defence bonus. Or have a special attack that repeats your previous hit (save til you hit near max). Or guarantees to hit a certain amount if enemy is below some HP threshold, making it BiS for finishing blows. Idk just SOMETHING unique and interesting. All mega-rares have something unique going on, except elder.

    You mentioned at the end that you can still one-shot the Fremmy Melee with Shadow, Torm, Occult, and Sat Heart while praying augury. In reality, your max hit is a 48 (49-1, beta max hit change). In order to hit a 50 with shadow you need 32% mage bonus while sat hearted. The gear mentioned puts you at 27% ((4+5)*3), plus augury for 31% ((4+5)*3)+4.

    I think instead of "not doing anything" to the 0 "damage", they should just do a red 0 for hits. This is because it is a legitimate problem with weapons like dwh spec where you dont know for sure if it reduced def or not when you hit a 0.

    Voidwaker is such a FUN weapon to use especially as a finisher, and that should be taken into account. Missing specs is sadge and making a newer BIS weapon almost obsolete is beyond me too. Why would you work hard to revamp wildy bosses and make wilderness more active (by adding more incentive to go there), and then throw it away one year later.

    I don’t understand what the issue with occult necklace is, yes it’s good and cheap, does everything have to be 100s of mils? I don’t think mid game mage was that op and for irons the slayer level req is already quite steep. I like the change to augury and I think they could just cap the dmg on shadow and it’ll help lower tier mage nicely

      Because it's single-handedly the BEST upgrade for mage, maybe even in the entire game, for how cost effective it is. it's still an insanely good upgrade even with these nerfs. and for irons, it's not like they're going to NOT get 93 slayer for occult, even at 4% its still bis mage necklace with zero competition.

      ​@@superlad6684 ​ 93 slayer is still hundreds of hours of grinding even for a main so for an iron man its more realistic for them to dive into cox first for an ancestral piece. The mid to end game gap for magic usage in combat essentially got widened because of how little advantage let alone reasons there are to use it until raids and maybe zulrah. That should be the problem at hand because who in 2024 is gonna use ancestrals to run barrows?

      @@ccakaccakaccakacc This^ I only really play a main, I'm still only 88 slayer but have done loads of raids, nex trying inferno soon etc. For an iron to dedicate to 93 slayer I think its a good reward. I just feel like shadow was already strong enough and magic was nowhere near op before getting a shadow which also requires ancestrals. I think the only reason people are actually upset is that it 'only costs 800k' but so what, irons don't care about ge value, and for mains there so much expensive gear to buy to be effective with magic already, these changes have made ancestrals even more expensive and important

      @@ccakaccakaccakacc "dive into cox for an ancestral piece" you say that like you're just gonna run 3 or 4 raids and get a piece lmao. full ancestral for an iron will take much much longer than 93 slayer barring extreme spoon. even one piece could take possibly hundreds of raids. you have obviously never raided if your thought process on it is "hurdurr ill just dive into cox and get a piece of bis mage gear, thats easier than 93 slayer!!" its statistically more probable to get a twisted bow before you get full ancestral as an iron. full ancestral should 100% be more of a mage str bonus than a single necklace that is a semi rare drop from a level 93 slayer monster. I can 100% guarantee you there are more irons with occult than full ancestral.

      @@ccakaccakaccakacc to put it into an even better perspective, if you're running semi efficient 30 min solo cox averaging 35k points per raid, it would take you around 1100 raids on average, or 550 hours, to get full ancestral for a 6% boost to magic damage over 3 slots. even IF it took you 550 hours to get 93 slayer, you still get a bigger dps boost in a single slot than a full set of bis gear from a raid. fuck outta here with that "b-b-but 93 slayer!!!" shit.

    Max hit changes really screw over high level TOA solos. Many efficient setups which can 3 down warden P2 now will become a 4 down

      Because of 1 max hit? That seems really unlikely. What invo are you thinking this would occur at? I run 500s and we 3 down comfortably and people miss ticks and gear sometimes.

      @@wrenandrews3782 540 solos with max strength. With this setup you can only lose 6 damage and still get a 3 down. With the max hit changes you'll be losing 24 damage.

    I was kinda surprised to find you agree with a casual like myself about Baba. I do 300-330 invo duo/small group raids with IRL friends. Red-x is basically required on any expert mode raid, because otherwise, even at 300 invo it feels like you'll just be brewed down the entire fight from the constant chip damage, or you have to prepot ranging pot and do Zebak first, so you can have salts to actually *stay* boosted throughout Baba. Baba doming 16s through prayer is just not reasonable. Akkha chips pretty hard during melee phase, but that's only during his melee phase when you can kite him in that phase, and heal with barrage and blowpipe spec on clones. Maybe this disparity is less pronounced if you have Torva, but with fighter torso+verac skirt, Baba went from my favorite boss at about 150-200 invo to my least favorite at 300+, because the amount of chip damage is just completely out of line.
    And they talk about DPS being lower when doing red-x? How about all the time you're losing DPS due to boulders and the baboons? In my experience, red-x is faster kill times than just playing the fight normally, every time. And it's only more pronounced the more people you have in your group hitting for completely free. The correct way to approach a fight should not be through cheesing it, and devs shouldn't be worried that fixing a cheese method will make a boss impossible. There is no mastery to be expressed there, there is only just breaking the AI so that you don't have to deal with the bad design.
    As for the midgame magic discussion: my friend proposed a buff to the Eldinis Ward. Make it 7% and upgraded ward 10%, or something crazy like that. Shadow is a 2h, so it fundamentally can't be abused there, and it would make a normally underwhelming purple into a very meaningful upgrade that any iron would be excited to add to their setup, and greatly enhance the value of that drop for mains as it'd bridge the massive gap between shadow and 2nd BiS. As it is, it's a raid drop that I've never seen used, even for memes. Make it good.

    They could fix the max hit/hitting 0 problem with 1 change. MAKE THERE BE RED 0 HITSPLATS. It solves the only problem with 0 being a successful role and keeps dps identical. No fancy formulas or ideas needed

    I just dont understand why 25def/50mage and 50def/70mage gear, infinity and dagon hai is better now than ahrims at 70/70 since it doesnt get 1% magic dmg on each piece, so why would you ever use it? Not like anyone's using it for defence

      yeah bond prices are going up, lower level moneymakers are becoming less profitable and the only things you can do are raids, nex or pvp if u want to even get a taste of having a bit of maxed gear on your account.

    I don't think the Magic gear nerfs is to crazy honestly. Since they said they are adding a Ton of Elemental Weaknesses with the Defense changes they plan to roll out as well. Most things if they are weak to magic are going to have like a 50% weakness or some are even 100% if you use the right element. Which over all will be a massive buff to Magics Mid Game and using it outside of Just the few Niche instances you do at bossing.

    Lot of weird changes but thankfully (if their word is true) these are just ideas they have and not concrete. It's strange, but understandable to a degree to nerf occult necklace as it performs exceptionally well for it's price range. Though slashing it by 6% seems a bit extreme. Considering there literally isn't an alternative.... yet

    Jagex reasoning to touch voidwaker: "guaranteed hits (i.e. ignoring accuracy checks) in PvM makes it difficult to design worthwhile Spec-DPS weapons in future without creeping upwards significantly." so for them voidwaker is item that is used regularly in bossing in many places

    on the point of "don't make changes to pave the way, make the change when the content drops" combat is an equasion with a multitude of variables. changing multiple variables at once and getting a bad result will make it hard to figure out what went wrong. making stable systems beforehand and then adding new stuff to them once the basis is solid is way better for a game which we know gets constant updates. JAgex is doing the right thing here even if it might currently make players slightly weaker in some situations.

    Jagex just needs to make the defense reducing spec weapons hit for 1 when they would hit but roll 0. Or for enemies with 1 hp just deal damage if the accuracy check succeeds regardless of damage done. There's no need to change the formula for how damage is calculated, everything is going to be a mess if they go through with it.

    kind of ruins the point of adding virtus with this. ancestral will give more bonus to ancients than virtus and that was the whole point of it. Ahrims and void mage sets are outclassed and nearly pointless to get/use. it would be nice if they would give both mage sets damage as well and virtus a higher ancients bonus or lower the ancestral bonus to ancients. accounts in mid game are going to loose out overall on %bonus.

    Buffing the DWH drop rate and making elder maul a slightly better DWH is so stupid and redundant it hurts. I think everyone was expecting elder maul to become a viable main hand weapon at places, not just copy DWH’s functionality onto it and call it slightly better.

      It should have the spec they proposed plus something extra. It’s a mega rare with scythe/tbow/shadow/kodai. This game is all about dps so maul won’t be a man hand unless it has an effect like tbow or shadow + the special.

    Its taken me 100+ hrs to get 2/3 peices of the void waker on my iron... pls dont ruin it.
    + they didnt even ask pvpers if we want it nerfed and imo it brought so much variety to pking before it was a melee camp meta if they nerf it we're back to boring just camping melee pray

    They need to make more magic level draining weapons instead of ruining mage every update and catering to the twisted bow which is still not as good even with all the dps boosting items for ranged... magic has no dps boosting items other than sceptre and seercull... and sceptre still helps t bow by draining defence levels... defence levels don't even have an effect on magic dps so i don't know why it drains defence levels at all.
