- Today Jagex released new Monkey room and I've been waiting to release a new ToA 500 teaching stream/guide until then. The changes are HUGE, night and day upgrade to TOA, wish they would have done this much sooner. This makes one of the hardest rooms, and first rooms not a reset central. The real star though, is MIXED HIDE. Mixed hide is the new Torva chest hybrid that allows you to bring SO MANY extra sanfew. This makes it so people who cringe at pray flicking can get a more lax 500 first kit. The accuracy bonus that Mixed Hide makes it better than Bandos chest while using Fang, and for basically no requirements or grinds long ironmen grinds. This should be nerfed, but while its not, I HIGHLY suggest using it on getting your first kits done. Defenses in ToA matter the least compared to other raids, so even though its lower than say Torva, it's still overall better because you can also Range in it with Tbow.
No, you wouldn't use this sub 300 invos and no, you wouldn't use this with bowfa.

It is NOT worth using mixed hide as your ranged gear with bowfa, but it IS always more dps than bandos. You could always bring both hide and crystal, bandos is probably better if tanking baba.
Wearing just the mixed hide top w/ bandos tassets is higher dps than both mixed hide top and bottom btw (also higher dps than bcp + mixed hide legs). This is good to know for those who are still doing ranged swaps for crystal w/ bowfa.

@@Mosestylez I would say so, especially since it frees up inventory spaces (at least one if bringing a leg switch). The stats of mixed hide for ranged is close to black d'hide, so yeah I think it would be fine!

Would you fang in this at nex or is the magic defense more important? or how viable would torva legs with mixed top be there?
Mp2 basically requires torva, it's solid if you don't have masori yet though
You should always pre-pot regular ranging pot for boulders if you're not bringing max range switches.
26:10 For more info on the "you don't need to flick" bit, brain off fully camping protection prayer+augury for 40 minutes would use ~14 sanfew pots with 8 prayer bonus.
You are not Praying for 40 minutes straight lmao.
Hell, even If you're struggling that bad, just lazy flick a damage prayer and hard camp overheads. Doing that you'd only use ~6 sanfews in 40 minutes.

You are right, but you also have to take prayer drain from damage into account. I Lazy flick my offensive prayers and i always have enough restore on my 500s

Mix hide is only worth cause of fang? Pre fang should be strength gear still? Especially if youre using bowfa and need the crystal?

Is this setup only good for 500 or is it best at any invo? Also, do you still camp eternals without shadow?

Hey Gnomonkey, would fortified masori + zaryte crossbow be better than bowfa full crystal for toa? I have been trying to use gearscape to answer this but it always says that crystal has lower ttk but the zcb has more dps. So im not sure what to think.
Ttk is what you want. It's because Ruby bolts have the potential to be more DPS.

I’m an Ironman with Bowfa + crystal. Spiked menacles + torso obby legs. I do have fang though. Would mixed d huge armour be worth it for my melee switch ?

I just use the top and wear tassets. Tested it recently. Definitely still need the crystal top and legs.
interesting, although it seems to depend on some max hit breakpoints. With my ironman gear (barrows gloves, dboots, no eternals since no shadow) bandos is just better and I have to bring crystal anyways for bofa. Worth to throw in the dps calc though. On fang vorkath it also loses since bandos gives 2 max hits due to salve scaling.
yeah, looks like a rip if you use bowfa. with his particular setup with eternals and torva helm it's great though.

No. Its only really useful because it takes away switches and adds more resources. You need crystal with bofa, so you should not use it without tbow, unless bandos doesnt give a max hit for your setup (even then the pray bonus on bandos and defence is worth it imo.)
Is Magus ring not worth bringing as a switch or is the magic damage % capped with full mage and augury making it redundant?
Not worth because Lightbearer is better

Mainly fang because fang max hits don't matter as much as accuracy double rolled
Using the same calc as monke, mixed hide with keris would be better than keris with bandos atleast with baba.

You should sell arma and buy Masori. Arma is garbage regardless and a waste of money. On gearscape.net you can plug in both your range/mage set and see the time to kill and dps and determine which one is better. You can also use the tool and see with how much money you have, the best upgrades would be best for you

The space saving with mixed hide is crazy, that many restores looks super comfy in comparison to 5 for most of the raid

Torva is still better but for a first kit, it's better to save the slots and use mixed hide as hybrid melee/range and save 2 slots for restores.

All varla armours: mixed hide, sunfire, perilous armours, ranged armour from group boss. random strange stats
Well a lot of them are suppose to be hybrid gear so it makes sense.
eclipse gear is surprisingly good for colosseum as well, +4 str bonus with top and bottom and slightly more range bonus than blessed d'hide. i don't think sunfire is weird, more weird that hardest content in the game is giving out a slight upgrade to proselyte

22:45 it keeps scaling. Below 40% you get 12 hits and i think below 20% gives you 14, although that i've never been able to test
so we bring eternals and have to aug to retain the same max hit as 80 before?
84 is the max hit when salted and bringing max mage (magus ring is needed too)

Technically yes, you can if you want. Moreso the point is that it's hybrid melee/range armor and saves you slots for more supplies which is most people's real difficulty in 500s

2:20 I didn't think of it that way. I kept camping the DFS with the fang for more defence because I figured anywhere that double stab bonus is already giving you damned near 100% accuracy, it's the _stab bonus_ that stops mattering hardly at all and so you just want high str and defence over something like a defender. Should probably test on a dps calculator instead of just winging it, do you have any dedicated guides on just how to read those dps calcs? They get a bit confusing to me.
Not everything is intuitive, gearscape is user friendly and what I use now. I'm planning a guide of this sort relatively soon

I'm doing 515 money raids with the same gear , just no twisted bow. What would be better to speed up the raid, a magus ring or primordial boots? I'm guessing magus ring?
No, prims. You don't bring magus in ToA. Lb is broken as hell

No reason not to. It doesn't make it worse and gives extra range

500s are closer to 300s than you think. If you can get down a few main things, it's only a matter of time. Bf, red x and last row wardens
@@tvortbox also possible without red x. drop your range switch for just an atlatl and bring like 17 sanfews into the raid. i never bothered to learn red x in my 600 raids so i thought for my first 500 i should just cheese it too. i did it first try. 4 sanfews left over.

Thank you for this guide, may I please ask to make a guide on the zebak jugs, I been doing 400s and I do zebak first cause its so crazy hard with lv3 zebak & upset stomach. Saturday I died 12x in a row b2b because it would give me the most insane jug spawns, most of the time it's common rule to stand left for first rotation & middle for 2nd jug spawns.
The first jug throw I either haft to run completely right side of the room and push the jug left, or to the very back of the room and push it towards zebak. I think zebak jugs is harder than anything in the raid for me, maybe I'm missing something

quit asking for mixed hide nerf, you are massively over hyping it. its +7 stab bonus man it's perfect for it's level requirements This would be like askign for a dragon defender nerf because it only requires 60 attack to wield but gives 24 slash accuracy. bandos may be a little weak for how hard it is to get but not really since it's got insane defense stats. you're bein a goofball on this one
It doesnt need a nerf anyways. It has an extremely niche use at high invo toa that barely outperforms bandos, only when wielding a fang without crystal/bofa, and is because of accuracy not strength. The vast majority of setups in the game bandos is better.

Seriously just 2 days ago I pulled up gear scape for DPS calcs and it put Mixed Hide as my armour (using fang in this case). I was like WTF is this, searched it and was like okay haha nice joke, I think the gear is worth like 20k or something. Just to then hear you say this now meta and crazy broken with fang in mind. I'm enjoying gear scape but it's a little hard to use sometimes.
ive been using mixed hide since it came out because i don't have bandos/torva and i refuse to play barb assault for a fighter torso. +2 strength is good enough for me

You should be bringing masori top tbh. You'll still 1 shot the boulder without the the extra 1 range lvl from pre potting(if using max gear all else). If you just swap the top to masori you'll be hitting a 27

I did naked man mode and lots of other budget runs/punch only etc. I don't particularly find them enjoyable.
