I haven't ridden in about 20 years, so I consider myself a beginner again. I went with the Vulcan S for all the reasons that you covered. Fairly affordable, low seat, feels light. It's a confidence inspiring bike. Also has a decent after market and plenty of power to keep it fun after advancing from a "beginner " rider.
It is a great bike. Just on the edge for a beginner but provides enough for an advanced rider. You should check out the other videos I have on my channel. I have customized my Vulcan S to the extreme.
