Someone call BP, their rigs are leaking again.
Darn BP released the demon lord Qaluthu
TYLER BENJAMIN
"Its not funny, or worth wasting a like or a comment on...."
Exactly!
I thought it was funny
You all know that the BP pipe that blew was American owned and built right?
Made by 4 students in 2008? Wow, epic work.
Very amazingly done, I do not even care what the story behind it is at all since it is so well done.
I've been watching/reading a lot of H.P. Lovecraft, so, to me, it looks like something out of an HPL tale. Cthulhu rises from the sea at last! It truly is an awe-inspiring work that gives me renewed faith in CGI. Most CGI has looked so dreadful to me, but this... WOW! It's better than most full-length movies I've seen lately ("Battle for LA", "Skyline", and others of that ilk). I plan to watch this again very soon!
Amazing! Simply amazing! Wonderful achievement! Would love a full length feature...I know.... now all we need is a few million! Well several million...
Oil fights back. Spectacular.
That was EPIC! Amazing sound scape. Very Lovecraftian
+ali Servan F( Is it Lovecraftian? Is it? It's just because it had tentacles, isn't it?
It had a creepy atmosphere and the protagonists were utterly overwhelmed by the power of the thing, but it has none of the needless aliens backstory and exposition, nor does it play up human disgust with nature's weirdness or drive the reader mad with lamentations that we aren't the center of the universe.
...Yes, I agree, cool tentacles, awesome sounds. Just stop giving the man credit for inventing fear of monsters.
+AnkhAnanku Why he so hard in the guy! I wasn't giving him credit for anything in particular but he captures the mind numbing scale of the Lovecraftian horror which is no mean feat!
"Hey what happened?"
Display Flashing Red Emergency
"Nothing."
Candidate for worst coworker possible award.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤙
The graphic were outstanding and so crystal clear, nice work.
enjoyed very much. GOOD JOB for a 3d in 2009, it held my attention all the way through
I’ve watched this many times and I love it and has a very important message... listen to your instruments! When they say there is a problem, there’s a problem...”release the Kraken”!
Yes! Ik heb hier heel lang naar gezocht. Bedankt!
omg the visuals are so stunning that my computer refuses to play any more videos for me. this is such marvelous work (i've never used the word marvelous in my life LOL. just shows how amazed i am)
My grandchildren make up stories that end with..." and they all died". WTH are they watching? Now I know - animated Sci-fi shorts.
The writers of these shorts are just kids who never grew up lol.
I like how we are told how amazing the animation is, before watching it.
cool das es auch holländische movies gibt! meistens nur englische oder bla bla - wo man die sprache nicht versteht. :D
❤Gracias hermoso trabajo artístico
Good job my friend.
I really liked your post.
Congratulations on your work, it was really good.
Giger would be proud. Keep up the great work! Hope to see more.
@blameist Blender is exceptionally powerful, has excellent modelling, physics and animation tools, and it free... which should fit into anyone's budget. It does have a steep learning curve, but there are also a lot of tutorials, free as well, if you're willing to learn.
Good luck!
Awesome movie. I saw it a few months ago and forgot the name, until a few minutes ago. Thank you. Incredible job. Congrats to all involved.
the oil strikes back....very nicely done indeed....
Made my day. Great flick. Just wish it was a bit longer.
No, you're not the only one that noticed the tentacles were oil. Very cool and the soundrack is perfect.
I like the animation on the oil monster, I think there are plenty of good stories that can be done with it.
excelent
Absolutely incredible art and animation! Just stunning.
Excellent movie. The moving (flying) viewpoint really brings to to life.
Dacht in het begin eerst, ugh, wat is dit nu weer voor een rare taal, en toen opeens, heyyy lachen XD Goed gedaan jongens. Was echt leuk gedaan.
Just discovered this. Neat and concise. Amazing work. Congrats !
Very good job. Well done. I liked your animated men -- very original and good.
VERY good! I wanted him to escape, but it looks like he didn’t.
Absolutely brilliant.
Wow! Wonderful. Oceansize indeed!
Fantastic! Great effort. I like to see more of these artists!
yup fantastic, love the concept...what an imagination !!?
The captions are appreciated.
That which we depend upon so much will be the instrument of our ruin.
Awesome animation!
I'm going to assume that guy just fell into the water, watched as the thing pulled the structure into the water, and then was picked up by a fishing boat. He lived happily ever after, although he did have to go to a PSTD counselor for a few years to work everything out emotionally. Also, the guy that got thrown out of the water? Surprisingly enough, he was alive and found floating in the water by some sealed containers that held supplies and enough air to keep them afloat and after a rough go was also taken to land on the same fishing boat. After recovering from his injuries, including a mild case of the bends, he also went to counseling, but now is married to his highschool sweetheart, has two kids and runs 3 gas stations in the Netherlands. Later they returned to the sea and made friends with the oil monster, which apologized profusely for acting so rashly. It now patrols the seas fighting for justice and low oil prices.
One of the oil tentacles grabbed him in mid-air.
No, it just looked lke that
Yes
The question in my mind is will there be a sequel ?
Great animated short!
Terrific FX...you can feel these EEL- like creatures slithering over the oil rig. 🥴
this was a peace put together
Awesome!
Hahaha...die abgeänderte deutsche sprache klingt toll...großes lob alleine dafür
Well, that certainly made a lot of sense.
Grt one 🌹🌹👌👌more like this
Dear BP
Please do not piss off the shoggoths. The rest of us want to live.
Sincerely,
the human race.
Cthulu fthlagn, dude.
Blij dat ik Nederlander ben / Proud to be Dutch
Mooie animatie, zeker een like waard. En die 48 dislikers zijng gwn hersenloze zombies ofzo.
Wow. Thank you for an unexpected treat.
Amazingly good... Rather Brilliant!
Awesome job!
When the red light come on indicating at "Level 21" something was wrong should had given the guy some idea something wasn't right, but he said: "OK" when asked by his friend. The movie was awesome. Everyone involved should be complimented on a job well done. Thank you very much.
That was awesome! Great work. Really cool visual style and excellent story-telling.
Another nicely animated short with a story that leads nowhere.
Not bad, that was a good watch!
Amazing work! Thrilling, frightening, stunning, and gorgeous!
Enjoyed it immensely. Yes, BIG oil fights back.
That was actually really cool they should turn that into a movie somehow. Nice work!
fabulously clever
Great work!
Wow! Great short!
great effects
When your only means of escape slides into the abyss but you keep on going.
Good student film. Looks like a hell of a lot of work and thought went into this film. What is Romain doing these days? Talented chap.
animation worthy of a full length movie.... its so good it rivals Appleseed !
That thing exhibited crude behavior. :P
jerky2112, Ha,Ha good one.
i need $120 million
Yikes!
I'll bet you're a barrel of laughs.
amazing video
GREAT STUFF!
deep ocean sludge extraction? really should have seen it coming
The emergency was on level 21 so the guy at the panel probably assumed it wouldn't be a problem for the guy in the pod since he wasn't going that far down (he only made it to level 15 before things went bad).
Nicely done. No Hollywood happy ending here.
I agree totally as well.
+Wolfen443 None of these beautifully made but bloody depressing films have a happy ending
+marc biff Because not everyone subscribes to the Hollywierd predilection with saccharine endings.
If it makes you feel better imagine this was the opening sequence of some over produced boringly predictable blockbuster disaster movie, after the opening credits more disasters happen worldwide until the implausibly immaculately groomed female lead who's supposed to be some kind of scientist figures out what's going on just by looking at a computer screen with half a dozen blinking pixels displayed, explains it in typically ridiculous technobabble (written into the script by some arts major who broke out in hives when exposed to science at school) to the chiseled jaw male lead, they defeat teh evuls with a plan so ludicrous it makes the laws of physics curl up in the corner and cry, everyone cheers and the girl gets the guy. Roll end credits (full of CGI & SFX teams who are ashamed of what they worked on but they needed to pay the rent; and they never, ever, list this abortion on their resumes)
Optional - end credits scene "Oh no it had babies!!!" Cue even crapper sequel. Directed by Michael Bay.
+Rubbermatt Very good but don't forget the wounded hero that everyone thought was dead appearing out of nowhere after climbing out of a 1 mile deep crevasse with a broken arm who shoots the monster's baby just as it's about to bite the heroine's head off.
c'est commun à tous les couloirs...Inévitable ?6'10 = neon tubes all lit as power still connected , never mind fuses +differential circuit breakers when the rig's crumbling.Autrement, j'aime bien les locks :-D
Maybe, it will be continue? There is so much in this movie to make a continue or a production. Go on. It's a very good animated science fiction short movie.
As a video graphics project, it's fine. As a UA-cam video, a roller coaster ride with almost a statement, namely: BP, stop drilling now or a big monster is going to come out of the ocean.
sweet candy coated jesus!!! absolutley amazing!
Fucking Awesome!! Superb! The movements and gestures of the humans were so realistic and true. This is honestly some of the best 3D animation I've ever seen.
Reminds me of the Black Oil in the XFiles. So fucking good. 👍
I think they are making a Netflix's show about this.
Excellent!!!
Slick animation!
@alcaminhante Thanks for your comment man. Glad you like it.
uau!!
Awesome film! :D The ending has a huge impact, very well done indeed.
yes. i'm watching
Yeah, I watched that after I watched this, and it was pretty enjoyable. I always like watching animators talk about how they did something, and they had some really interesting things to say, as well as a rather unique approach. I was just thinking yesterday, in fact, how one of the animators talking about working on simulations started saying how that part "can get pretty scientific and technical." And it does. That's the fun of it, you start feeling like a scientist as much as an artist.
This is Flippin Sweet!!!
Terrifying. Excellently scrioted.
well done!
Biosphere's track when 1st man dive into ocean :) Also great industrial and noise techno elements
Anyone watching this in 2019.
I’m actually watching it in 9056. It’s a big hit in ancient, ancient history. We are back to rebuild Earth, now it’s cooled down enough!
yes I took a look 6/19
Nope. Still 2009 here.
OY!!!!! Loved it!
never trust a bloodnut with dreadies when diving....important message!
So am I to understand that a futuristic oil rigger just got owned by living oil? damn. if that's the plot, great message. I liked it. Alot! *two thumbs up*
yep.
SoulRythm really so why didn't he just light up a cigarette and be done with it?
See my above comment. 3 books so far !
Great.
Enjoyed it a lot.
Whoa. Top notch.
Excellent! truly talented creators. Captivating and fasinating, please make it into a full movie. This film demonstrates clearly that True talent has no need for tawdry puke scenes nor sexism of rape and abuse to capture attention and interest. Hooray for adults!!
ohhh my so good...so well done...overwhelming...IDK...that was an oil creature?
May be a mutation or evolution of a creature in the sea...
Hope they got overtime!
Awesome! I love this video! I can see a video game being made about this. I think you should pitch this idea to a video game company.
amazing!
cool stuff!
