- Note: Depending on the type and thickness of the fabric, we recommend cutting only one layer of flannel or fleece with GO! Rag dies.
The GO! Rag Quilt Die from AccuQuilt makes Rag Quilts even easier and more fun because all the clips are done for you! Watch Pam Heller and Lynn Gibney show you how to make a Rag Quilt!

Please have a video showing detailed instructions on how to join die Rag squares.together. It is very important to know how to join one Square to the next Square to build a row but ALSO needs to show how to join each Row of squares together. Matching up four fringed quilt square corners ineeds visual instruction. Thanks for your help.
i used a bit of 505 to hold the batting in place and a small amount of Elmers glue to keep my corners together.
I saw in the comments about the1" sewing. If you use 1" from the edge of the fringe if puts you into the fringe and how do you sew the rows together evenly? Please make another video to show how to work the blocks together.
I'm sewing from seam to seam and finding it tedious. Is there a better/different way?
Thank you for your suggestion; I will gladly communicate this with our Events Team!
I’ve had my rag quilt die for some time your video is very informative 💞💞
I have made a rag quilt before, but without a die. I will be purchasing one thanks to your video. What a saver. I really enjoyed your video and learned some great techniques. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much, Andrea! We can't wait to see what you create with your new die!
здорово! уже готовый лоскутик с бахромой! очень нравится эта техника...все отходы можно переработать..и кофты старые и шарфы и все - все!
Very good tutorial, loved it, lots of info
Glad you liked it!
The corner notch does not go in one inch, hence I have had many problems when sewing the rows together. I will have to rip it all out and go in one inch, which is past the corner notch. Confusing instructions.
Totally agree..I am having a terrible time sewing the intersections together.
i suggest using painters tape to make a "corner guide" on the machine to show where to start and stop.
Pam, love your hair in this video.
Oh thank you! I'll let Pam know :)
How does the dies work if you make a pin wheel rag quilt where you sew a white to a print and cut 4 half square triangles. My squares are 10 inches a piece.
I love accuquilt dies
I love my die, but I think it takes awhile longer to cut since you can only cut 1 or 2 pieces of flannel at once. However, not having to cut the fringe makes up for that time.
What about the edges of the quilt? Sew a seam all around so there's no open areas (showing the batting), right?
janette aguirre-terry You will have to assemble the quilt rows then sew around the quilt's outer edges that have not been enclosed. It is not a continuous stitch. You will have to jump from piece to piece to sew the outer edge down for the pieces that are not surrounded by other pieces. It is very easy to do. I would do a quick backstitch for each piece because with the thickness of this quilt (it's not bad) you will want to make sure the stitches will stay closed. I made one of these, the size of a lap quilt because my daughter wanted one for her cat to sleep on when she sleeps on her bed! The cat loves it, by the way, lol. It is such a cozy quilt that I was loathe to give it up, so I'm already working on another one for us.
Can you ever do only 1 piece of fleece for rag quilt?
I am ready to sew my X what would you suggest on the thread to use. Do I have to use the color of the fabric or is there a neutral thread that I can use?
Whatever you choose. It can match or be different
Is there any place we can go to swap our dies? I am done with my Rag square, but would like a strip or hexagon. Is there such a place?
Hey Frances! We know there are a few Sell/Swap Facebook groups for specifically AccuQuilt dies. I would recommend checking there!
Have to get the die i just made a rag quilt the cutting them was hard
I have the die, but this is one of my UFO's that I need to get done!
I found it hard to put it together with notches at one size yet you say to sew 1 inch in. What am I doing wrong?
Can someone please share the size of the “extra” mats I should buy for this die?
10x10
Thanks George!
What size did you cut your fabric too before placing on die? 9?
You want to measure from either side of the shape and rough cut your fabric with 1/4" on the sides to find out how to cut your fabric. Hope that helps :)
Can you use an 8inch blade in the baby one please let me know
The GO! Baby has a 6" cutting width, and is able to accommodate dies on a 6" or smaller die board.
Where do you get the machine and the die for rag quilt
Hi Dana!
Here is a link to the GO! Cutter as well as the GO! Rag Square-8 1/2" Die, which requires a 10 x 10" Cutting Mat.

Happy Quilting!
Would of been nice if you would of mentioned what size to cut the fabric at since it doesn’t mention it on the package
I was hoping to see how to line up rows so they're not off kilter :( I am ready to send this machine back.
You may want to use pins, clips or even painters tape right at those intersections to help keep everything in place
@@accuquilt I did.
@@MsMelaniekaye Are you sewing your blocks together at the 1" seam allowance?
@@accuquilt yes I am. I have ripped row out three times already. I matched up seams, pinned on sides of seams and middle of block, have walking foot. I have contacted customer service to return. I have not had this trouble doing it the old fashioned way. I was hoping to alleviate back pain... the AccuQuilt probably made it worse.
what size is the batting square die used for the 8 1/2 rag die square? an 8"?
darius2j it's a 6 1/2" for the batting.
It is a 6.5" die or cut batting too 6".
Why only 2 pieces of flannel....thought machine would not let die go through if too thick
My rag quilt die doesn't cut all the way around
Hi Jean, please create a support ticket on our website so our Customer Experience Team can help troubleshoot the matter.
ok, QUILTER!
Love my machine. But I didn't get rebate, they lied.
I have a hard time adding rows. the bulk at the intersections. the rag portions get going every which way. What do I need to do different?
I have the same question, no one seems to have a video or answers.
I agree. Much easier to cut the rags after sewing them together. I am very disappointed with this process. After sewing the rows together, I frequently turn it over and see parts of the cuts showing on the other side. The corners are particularly messy.
Totally agree, frustrating. What a mess I have made. Intersections are very difficult if not impossible to sew together. Now what?
Roseanne Carr Atkinson Sometimes the old way is the best way! I have discovered this fact the hard way too !
having a horrible time sewing rows together. Also, my die doesnt look like this one. It has no notch to the sides! its all fringe all around, why?
Hi Jessica. We're sorry for the frustration! It sounds like you might have an older version of this particular die. I would recommend checking out these videos for some more instructions for that die: ua-cam.com/video/Ku7vRbQR7Qk/v-deo.html or ua-cam.com/video/i3GkAHKcWhk/v-deo.html and if you have further questions please feel free to give us a call at 888-258-7913!
*Missed a Process?* Where in the video did you _cut off the corners_ of each rag square I notice they are missing I assume to that removes the bulk when sewing rows together?
Derek Thompson I believe the corners are cut by the die.
Dislike this die even with one piece of fabric it is So hard to turn 😢 hubby even had a little hard time turning the handle
Hi George, our apologies for any difficulty with this die. Our Customer Experience Team is always happy to troubleshoot any difficulties with you. We recommend creating a support ticket on our website.
DO NOT buy this die. It’s a piece of crap. I have had more issues. Having to cut the rag square out from the scrap fabric with scissors and having to cut each fringe apart. Worthless
