How old is this little guy? He looks like a young male but that is just a hunch. I have a pair of Quince (male and female) monitors and they are about 3 years old. My male Quince is 39 inches or about 100cm. You've done a good job socializing him - he is very tolerant of you.
They remind me of Cummings. But The damage a cat can inflict with their claws and that of a monitor isn't even comparable. A monitor, you'll get a really bad scratch at best. A cat will literally lay you open and need stitches. Same for the teeth. Cats also have way more bacteria, so that's also an extra danger. (My uncle almost had to have his entire arm amputated because of a cat bite on the hand.) I get it, monitor feet is just razor blades with a foot growing out of it, but you can't compare. Lol Sorry for the specific rant.
Does he have heat mat under his hide rock? I also have a quince, same age and size, but he spends all his time hiding under the rock instead basking but i think its because i put heat tape under the floor. Im thinking he would rather be warm and hidden than warm and in a tree, exposed lol. Which is leading to him still freezing up whenim around instead of being curious and stress free

Thanks! I just got lucky hes always been friendly. He likes being pet but doesn't like being held. I think he's about 2 years old

Nah I have a 160 watt mercury vapor bulb and a 160 watt heat emitter that I leave on 24/7
