BTW, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut is the homage, not the other way around. Mido produced that TV shaped case in the 70s. Patek "borrowed" it for the Aquanaut in 1997.
Doesn’t matter, the highly desirable giant (Patek) that everyone knows will be considered the OG and the one which is being copied. I would never want this as it clearly is trying to come up off the Patek hype. Makes for an awkward conversation if someone thinks you have an Aquanaut 😅

Not sure if Teddy mentioned it but the horizontal lines on the dial are reminiscent of the TV scan lines on old crt TVs. Such a perfect dial for this case!

Mido punches well above it's weigh. I love the bottle green variant of this watch. They are worth double what they are asking for in my humble opinion .
As a young man, who can't at the moment but will eventually buy a Patek Philippe, this is an exceptional piece to get.
Good to see Mido getting some love on UA-cam. A vastly underrated watch company who makes some very quality products. i do kinda wish they didn't go full Turdor (ala black bay) & lump too much into the Multifort namesake. I like the look of this watch. Very sharp & different enough to not be overtly an homage.
Mido is very underrated. Their oceanstars are my go-to recommendation for a 1K usd diver.
Purchased a TV Big Date about a month ago. Fantastic watch. I was first inclined to the dark dial with the orange strap. But trying it on, the steel bracelet was much more convincing in view of looks and wearing comfort, so I went for the steel bracelet in with the blue dial. It wears great even on my relatively small wrist. The precision is also great, advances about 4-5 seconds per week, that is significantly less than 1 second per day! Where do you get such a good looking, well finished watch with Big Date complication, 100 m water resistance and screw down crown with 80 hours power reserve and an accuracy of better 1 second per day reserve for 1’100$?
How did you feel about the dial color? I just my blue dial on steel bracelet and the color is quite a bit different than what I was expecting. The photos on the Mido website are borderline false advertising in my opinion. There is no sunburst effect or color transition from blue to black at all. Teddy's video did at least accurately show the consistent single color although I feel the one in the video was several shades brighter than the one I received. I just wasn't expecting the blue to be dark. Luckily Teddy has a really good return policy and I haven't worn it outside or adjusted the bracelet yet.
@@mh98177 In my opinion there is a lot going on with the dial depending on the lighting. In diffuse lighting the dial (blue in my case) is rather dark and the blue to black gradation is not prominent. This changes a lot in grazing point lighting (e.g. in the sun or a single lamp, particularly from the top or bottom). Then the blue center becomes very pronounced and the gradation to the black rim accordingly to. It gives an iridescent effect on the blue color too. In reflection the dial gets really bright, reflective.
As I tried bought it in a shop and could try it out, I was well aware of what the dial ‘is up to’ and I am not disappointed, because it is so different in different lightings and varies a lot. But looking at the pictures, which are usually taken with strong point-like lights, the dial looks certainly different than in diffuse lighting, which is the common thing when you wear it.
So it is correct that you do not get the 'picture' dial color all the time, but you get it and the liveliness of the dial is a plus for me.
I would suggest you play around with the watch in different conditions. Turn it round under sun light, I think it is spectacular.
Signed up for the blue dial like an hour after this video was uploaded because it sold so fast. was surprised to actually get a call back from Will with teddys website. first time I ever actually got called back for a watch. these are the memories we pass down. Very grateful to Will for giving me that call back.
I love the colour orange and finding a watch that features orange in some way is very difficult. This Mido with the orange rubber strap looks excellent.
I like it. I don’t tend towards anything but round cases. But somehow this looks like it could be a do-everything watch for a shopper like myself with limited budget. The bracelet is plenty nice enough to wear with suits, yet it looks fantastic on a rubber strap. I’m going to try it on.
The bracelet looks identical to the Sinn 556 apart from the clasp which I really like, honestly its a beautiful piece at that price, head to head against the conquest!
I always love how these daring designs make it easier for actual watch enthusiasts to spot snobs lol. Glad to see so many people know that MIDO can essentially do whatever they want with the TV style, because the orange rubber strap one is gorgeous. In case anyone is wondering, no, the caliber they're using is not the "synthethic" escapement one present on the PRX (that would be the C07.1**), they are using the regular jeweled escapement caliber (C07.6**) which is also used a lot by Rado (although they tend to use the older version).
I'm actually surprised at the price, if I see the orange one at a boutique it's a no brainer for me. Nicely done MIDO.

Nice watch . The case shape is truly nice, the dial is perfect with this big date . Very good balance in the design of this watch. In addition the ETA caliber is a proof of quality. Thank ou for this great video.
I got myself the green dial 2 weeks ago. The watch looks stunning and is incredibly wearable even for my 6 and a quarter inch wrist. HOWEVER just today the date got stuck and wont move. Retailer sent it back to mido, but still a huge letdown that just after 2 weeks. Hopefully I was a one off and this is not a recurring issue!

This is a great looking watch! Love the accuracy as a bonus and the case is great. And the big date is very helpful as you age and your eyes start to go. Standard ETA/Sellita date windows are teeny!

Unfortunately my date is stuck and many people seem to have that issue. I didn’t adjust it… so your favourite part of the watch unfortunately has manufacturing problems. I was about to become a Mido collector… but this is very disappointing and I will wait how they handle to customer support and will think after if I buy again one… I was about to buy two other watches… but now it’s on hold…

My mid 70s Mido Commander 8016 is definitely this things main inspiration. It’s a much more elegant/simplistic nicer version of this🤷🏽♂️
Seventies from GO is probably the biggest inspiration for this iteration
My Mido Multifort with Geneva Stripe dial is a COSC 80 hr Si balance spring with Elonflex mainspring dress watch with instant day date change at midnight and is by far the best value in my ever expanding watch collection. The day is even in German and English. Mido and Hamilton are excellent entry Swiss watches along with CW.

Good lug-to-lug size 👍 Also, I wish if Longines had introduced this brushed bezel on the Conquests. I loved my Conquests (I had two of them) but I was never able to make peace with the polished bezels turning into a scratch magnet slowly, day by day, no matter how careful I handled them. A brushed bezel tolerates/wears small scratches a lot better I think. Full polished bezels are so 90s, early 2000s anyway...
I'm having serious doubts about the new conquest 2023 just because of how polished it is. I love everything about it... except the extreme polishing; feel like it's gonna catch scratches for merely existing.
Chocolate dial could be fun with that orange strap.

Fr mido is so underrated man. I have a multifort leather strap and it feels so classy yet sporty, I really hope they keep going up cause they deserve it.

I have the Mido Ocean Star 600m - it's a brilliant watch. I bought it at Singapore Airport 18 months ago. It is still so accurate - about 1 second a day. It looks beautiful and wears very comfortably. I love the strap with solid links. I was back at the Singapore Airport the other day (my way back from Japan), and I looked at what is available. Even looking at Breitling and Omega and a few others, none of them looked as good as my Mido and they cost 5 times as much - no thanks.
I can tell you actually use your brain, and not just go by hype, like the rest.

I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. amzwatch brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !

I know that people in the comments are gonna talk about the elephant in the room (Patek vibes of the watch), but the big date is what got me so interested with this watch. Glashutte pano date and Zenith big date pilot have that two disc date that makes the complication of the watch more interesting. I just have to recup from my current watch purchases (moonswatch easier to get retail).

Yes, no problem. Inside of the watch I believe they use two layers of discs to create the big numbers. If you like mechanical watches then this is a super buy. Good price and high quality. @@maanmittaaja1979

I bought this watch at Geneva Airport yesterday. It was impulse buy and I love it already. I avoided the orange strap version because it looked too much like a G-Shock from a distance and a Patek closer up. I went for the blue rubber strap model I'm not a great fan of date Windows but in this case it absolutely makes the watch.
I got this Mido for under Fr.1000 Swiss. Absolute bargain. Thank you to Hour Passion at Geneva airport for their service and agreeing to post the WatchBox to my home, so I didn't have to carry it with me on the plane.
Snap one of these up if you can it is a great everyday sports

I really like this watch! Its defenitly on my list. But PLEASE Mido...give me a dark green silicone/rubber strap to accompany the green dial. I dont love bracelets for everyday watches and neither the blue or orange fit with the green dial color, I think.
Mido has been consistently one of my favorite brands ever. I get more excited with a Mido than with a Patek Philippe.
The big date had serious issues in the mechanism which tended to block! Fortunately, Mido fixed that issue starting October 2023, so everything should be ok for now!
Might be my 2nd mido for this year's birthday 😊.

One remark. Hamilton's H10 is also 25 jewels PM80 so Hamilton also uses C07.651 along Certina and Mido.
My absolute favourite of theirs is their Multifort Vertigo. I only wish it had a date window, there's more than enough space for it...

Just ordered the TV Big Date Limited Edition the second I saw it in my in box. The look may not mean much to the younger generation but I thought the retro analog TV case with the old analog video test card dial is so unique and playful.

Man.. definitely nothing beats the designs from the 60s and 70s. Beautiful watch. 40mm seems too big though. I like the nautilus style looks as it is smaller. But hey, im one of those that bought the prx 35mm. I prefer small size watches.

Just looking at this watch the other day. It's a really nice looking and finished watch for the money. I Really want to add a square shaped watch to the collection so this might be it.
I heard (NOT DIRECT EXPERIENCE) from a dealer that the big date complication is one of the most troublesome. The date numerals often don't line up where they should. Probably not the case with a Lange but most manufacturers will tell you it's operating normally as long as there's enough of the numerals showing that you can tell what date it is TRYING to display. Manufacturing tech is progressing at a blistering pace so maybe not as true as it was a few years ago.
