A nasty combo I like is running this as Ultrmarines. Robute Guilliman has an ability that allows you to choose a second Oath of Moment target (given you destroy the first one) which doubles the effectiveness of the detachment rule!
I tried it and it worked rly well with my Dark Angels vs. Worldeaters. 2 Termi Bricks ( knights(5 man) and command squad(10 man)) sternguard, hellblasters and Characters were a good base with some fluff (scouts, intersessors etc.). Worked fine 4 me. Termi squad Tanked Angron and hit back so not bad at all ;-)
I am playing 1st company in crusade. For 2000 I use the Sternguard with a libr and apoth as battleline (more durabiliyy). Termies with a capt. (tactical). Assault termies with chaplain (for +1 to wound for anti tank hunting). Vanguard for hordes with chaplain with jumppack (lot’s mortal wounds). And Bladeguard with Judiciar in a Landraider (for assaulting objectives). Anti tank support Ballistus dread and Lancer. Combi ltd for some tactical also. It feels… very elite and situational when playing. Teleporting around and rapid ingres is key. It’s very flexible. I try to get this playing style right. Fun for the most part, didn’t win yet :). I needed this video. I share your opinions. Very good work. TY.
I’ve just reached 2k in my crusade list using this detachment only Term captain Term librarian Term chaplain Bladeguard ancient 2 x 5 sternguard 3 x 5 terminators 1 x 6 bladeguard 2 redemptors Land raid excelsior Purely as a fluffy list this detachment is fun and keeps you in the fight I feel.
I don't know man, Seeing the good in a something bad is not always a good thing. Knowing the flaws and understanding the good is one thing, but this felt like they weren't addressing the elephant in the room that it kinda sucks compared to the other detachments and very limits the types of army units you can use, although these units are strong there very slow and don't really help with objectives unless you really and I mean really play flawlessly and accounted for every action your opponent would do. I like these guys but yeah I felt they where pushing it
@@lorenzosgarallino Comparing it to Ironstorm spearhead which is performing very well by both new and old players, having an army be played in a way 40k players are not used to is not really a good selling point. Honestly there is one change GW can do and make this detachment worth it but not broken, just don't limit the oath of moment re roll wounds for this detachment. Keep the rest the same. It will fit the detachment perfectly which should be focusing on oath of moment.
This way will make sterngaurd vetrens skill of reroll 1s on oath of moment targets useless but its kindof already useless as its limited to one unit per turn
@iaindebono8645 Hey dude, Jord here. I understand where your coming from and we all know this isn't the best detachment in the codex, ive play tested it a lot with my BAs and I don't see it being used competitively as much as Ironstorm or Gladius. But we do want to advertise the benefits of the detachment and show how to use it to the best it can be used. There are ways of making this work, Vanguard Vets provide the mobility, Terminators can come on and off the board so there are ways to counter the inherent weaknesses as Mike demonstrated with his list. The beauty of the new codexes are the fact we have so many styles of play, and thats why we are locked into this one play style with the 1st Company. I get where your coming from mate, but we want to help people make the most out of this detachment and help people continue playing 40K.
Been following this Space Marine series in loads of detail and loving it. Any plans to do redo the Gladius Taskforce review with the small changes to that, new units and combos? Thanks Team, love your friendly 'chat' style with the harder line tactical talk.
Love the video guys, I was curious how do I select Crimson Fists in the app? I tried just SM and Ultramarines but I can't find Pedro in any of the character lists. This list is super interesting and I'd love to try it :) Also this video convinced me to sign up for the masterclass! Top notch content!
Sorry but the first company is an insult to every sm that plays competitively. It gives the real oath back for one single turn, the enhancements are poop, the strats are the most meh of the detachments. While also being the most restricted even compared to the white scar detach.

This is why VT are different. They see the good "no matter the odds". Bravo. I want to try this detachment now.
