What this detachment needed was a 1CP stratagem that let a single Infantry unit count as stationary even if they moved or advanced. That would go a little way to making the detachment better.
That’s actually a really nice idea. I think it would be cool to have a 2cp stratagem that allows units to overwatch but instead of hitting on 6 they hit on their weapons hit stat. To reflect imperial fist precision.
The Hammerfall Bunker Missile launcher need to be made INDIRECT…it then becomes a Primaris ‘replacement’ for the firstborn Whirlwind with a fortification spin on it… Job done, and makes the Bunker an annoying target that needs to be dealt with, justifying its investment! Would fit right in Imperial Fists lists…and more!
@@jacktbc3947 absolutely, it is clearly designed to drop in from orbit! Why GW didn’t make it work that way - even into your deployment zone only - is beyond me…!
This is the detachment I am MOST interested in and it sucks to see so many youtubers slam the detachment. All I want is batreps of a massive army of Gravis troops blasting away. :D
Not just gravis . Literally all units benefit from the rules. I dunno why everyone is poo poo’ing it. Hell blasters wounding on 2’s is amazing . Even intercessors with their trash bolt rifles wound on 3 or 4s…
Spent a turn getting your guys into position and then spend the next 4 turns shooting with +1 to hit and wound. Even if you have to spend 2 turns getting set up 3 turns with your entire army getting +1 to hit and wound is busted. And you have a strat that lets you fall back on their turn so start your turn able to shoot at full bonus.I think some people do not like it because it doesn't involve 30 Black Templars rushing headlong to their glorious deaths.@@starlord157
@@thebean8255 You spend a turn or two moving into position and then spend 3 turns on an objective shooting with +1 to hit and wound. Even 3 turns of that is amazing.
Honestly I get the feeling fleet Commander is a psychological tool against the other guy. Like if you are facing a melee army and you put it ahead of their path they are either gonna take a tax or move around and endure more shooting
What sucks is Tor Garadon used to be a somewhat worthy addidtion, I hold onto him for fluff only but they nerfed him by taking his lethal hits. They want to force the grouping with an apothecary biologis. Why GW? THanks Vanguard Tactics! much love
The dice roll for Fleet Commander is just a kick in the nuts and pointless after all the hoops you have to jump through…not even that much damage and you are being Lanced from orbit ffs!
Gona try this at local tournament… got hellblasters and agressors with lethal, counting on sustains from stratagem to imitate weaker version of fire discipline. Lets see how it works. I dont have high hopes tho
I like the fleet commander for 1 thing: you can force people into bad decisions. Say someone is holding an objective or is trying to go to a point where they need, you can just put a mark on the place where they need to pass through, and they need to make a decision: either go into the danger zone, or make a detour that can cost a whole turn of actions. I love the Fleet commander strat because it gives a very needed flexibility to the detachment.
Fleet commander with deep strike. Use fleet commander to push units out or that 9 inch range. I use it to clear opponents home objective then drop termis in to pull focus
Dunno if anyone knows the answer to this but as all weapons count as heavy does a unit in engagement range IE from the enemy charging in their turn count as moving when it gets to your shooting phase? Basically I wanna know if my pistols get the +1 to hit bonus. It doesn’t FEEL like they should as they’re in a swirling melee but if the unit doesn’t move in the movement phase…
Really enjoying these guys. The main thing I wouild like to know i, if I put 10 Deathwing Knights in a Vanguard Spearhead and infiltrate them right in front of my enemy's lines, would this be a prudent tactical decision? 😂
haha Avoid this at all costs if you want to keep your friends 😉 its a prudent way to make enemies lol Thank you though dude, we are glad your enjoying the content 😌
1 motnh late but still. You said that the strat "Rigid Dicipline" is a defensive strat, it is not, it is offensive just a turn ahead and not right there and then. you opponent gets to fights then you fall back. You fall back on their turn so you get to stand still and shoot with Heavy weapons and you get to charge back in after or move somewhere else.
Hello, I am still new and still painting my army before playing any battles. I am trying to do Space Marines Adepticus jetpacks and bikes. Can you recommend a detachment?
Oh snap thank you! I'm trying to do motorcycles with chaplains too and those cool dreadnaughts. Also one of those mech suits with the space marine hanging out.@@dragleeagon906

Being able to deep strike it Turn 1 would be a great fix. It’s meant to drop down from the sky and clear landing zones

I'm playing my son's as a whirlwind launcher. Model is too cool to get the treatment.

@@starlord157I think the main thing is a unit not moving to get that bonus is usually completely unviable

PlayOnTabletop recently had a Space Marine mirror match, Anvil Siege Force V Storm Lance.
Highly recommend. It sold me on the detachment!
Working on my marines for 2024 ad this is the detachment I am eyeing. It looks really fun to me.

I think fleet commander is cheap enough that it doesnt need to do much. You kill one intercessor and its made its points back

You don't state if you would go fixed or random missions & if the former what missions you would do?
Heart says yes, head says no.
I totally feel this. I wanna give it a try in some friendly games with my Gravis Bros just to have fun with it, though.
It should be if you move at half your speed then you count as being stationary. Along with the current rules

Stormlance focuses on bikes & jump-packs.
