@@gustavorosaless373 Such an excellent series, glad to see others love it as well. The music composer, Yoko Shimomura, was really beyond inspiring when you try to understand how she even wrote these themes.

This is one of those songs that, despite the fact they're so somber and sound so unfit for a battle... It's still PERFECT battle music. Especially considering it's Roxas we're talking about here.
"Sora, you're lucky. Looks like my summer vacation is... over" *As Roxas faded he felt something. It was as Namine had told him. He didn't feel panicked as he faded. Instead he felt, whole*
Daniel Yogi he said that his summer vacation was over amd in the comment it seemed like that you said that it was at THAT point that roxas faded and i was lile "dafuq?"
This song makes you feel a fake-like happiness with an underlying tone of despair and regret... as if you are hiding behind your smile. In public, you act happy, but when you are alone, your life is hell..
It's that accompanying piano voice, the 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2 part. The way it actually starts to sound happy before the whole thing breaks down is just heart-wrenching, like he's accepted his fate as much as he can, but the pain will never truly go away.
"I need to find this Sora person set Kingdom Hearts free and everything will go back to the way it was me, Axel, and...and her will go back and eat ice cream together." ~Roxas
@@LuichiTacoI can see where you're coming from, but they don't sound the same at all. The HD remix is bogged down in a way too loud string section that doesn't give the piano any room to make any statements. It's a pretty piece, but it lacks the emotional center of the original. The way the piano feels like it's struggling to keep up in the middle section of the original. Like it's making a decision in real time about what to do. Before finally casting off its limits and committing to expressing, the grief, the injustice, the anger, the desperation that Roxas is experiencing during the fight. The graceful strings of the remix don't communicate that to me at all. The remix loses the soul of the original piece, which is contained in the piano
Once... I was in that boss battle, and 30 seconds after the fight started, the game blocked but the soundtrack remained. I couldn't restart the game because of it, and before doing so, I listened to it for something like 10 minutes haha.
Another way you can look at it is; Oblivion represents Xion, and Oathkeeper represents the promise Roxas made with her to destroy Kingdom Hearts, hence the name "Oathkeeper".
@@cloudshines812 yeah, I also put emphasis on the desperation I don't feel in the remaster. The newer one just seems to be arranged to sound prettier, like the emotional baggage stopped being the priority.
A cruel, intense and pulse-pounding version of a somewhat sad, gentle song. This is the kind of piece that breaks your heart, because (In Sora's case) you haven't the faintest clue what's going on, but the harsh pounding the keys make your blood boil, while simultaneously sustaining a high note of sadness in your mind.
Roxas is referring to Axel. Roxas's rage and jealousy of Sora, as well as the death of his bestfriend is what triggered the nobody's awakening, and what led to the destined battle. Axel had sacrificed himself so that Sora could live, while he had refused to do the same for Roxas earlier in the Digital Twilight Town. It was only after Roxas glanced down at Sora during their battle, surrounded by the stainglass images of the boy's friends and allies did Roxas understand.
this music is so badass and full of soul. It literally spells "this is it, the final showdown. After this, its all over" The "Duel Bout" reaction is the cherry on top with this music on.
Exactly. I wish that 2.5's orchestrated track had the same intensity and drive to its piano that the PS2 version did, but the orchestrated track has the better rendition of the flute and string parts.
@@Nexol13 Yea I would agree too that the 2.5 version is really missing that strong piano presence the original midi version had and felt a bit too soft. Just layering this with the 2.5 track really fixed my nitpick lol
@harley martynec It's tragic for both Sora and Roxas. If Roxas had his way, Sora would have been sleeping forever. In a way, Roxas still exists. He may be a part of Sora but he's a character that won't be forgotten. I have a feeling I'm going to see him in Kingdom Hearts 3
Well I beat dream drop distance and after the ending, I am convinced I will see Ventus and Roxas in KH3. I'm not sure about Xion but I want her to come back too
Static Sonic Dream Drop Distance implies that all of the characters who were lost will be able to come back through the use of Ansem the Wise's data, and Sora is connected to it all somehow. We see Xion appear twice in that game, and Ansem said even if the memory is gone, the heart still remembers everything. She probably will come back. The real question is, what the heck is everyone going to wear? The black hoods for the majority of the game?
This may sound weird, but this song plays when Dante and Vergil having a unforgettable battle in a church when it's raining. This time, Dante or Vergil must die in this sad, final battle.

That is the sadness and rage to not be your own person and to know you aren't even supposed to exist and the feeling that your existence will end soon. Am I right?
This song feels like "Ok this is it, I have nothing left so I have to try even though I know I'll fail." I think that's how Roxas felt because though he may have become 'one' with Sora he never got the chance to become his own completely seperate person. Which is sad when you think about it, he's a prisoner now. Unable to expereince life as he wanted. No matter how disney may try to sugar-coat that its the truth.
