I love Roxas' story arc. His mere existence hurts the side of good. He fights to exist not to help evil but to just... exist. Once the Organization turns on him, he runs and tries to survive. Both sides want him un-personed. And then even his memories wiped. He keeps fighting to be his own person. And then even in the simulation he fails to escape. And then ALL throughout KH2 he keeps fighting to the surface. And after 2 memory wipes, losing 2 sets of friends and literally losing his body, he STILL doesn't give up on his existence. Fighting from inside Sora. Until he's finally defeated, not because Sora's a better fighter but because Sora knew a trick. He resigns himself to fate here and accepts Sora as being the true version of himself. Dude fights tooth, nail, and soul just to exist.
In Dream Drop Distance, Roxas essentially resigns from existing and leaves it to Sora, the only person who told him he had a right to exist in the first place. Makes me sad to think about, but also content that Roxas believes in his counterpart.
Difference between this and the manga: when Roxas disarms Sora, in the manga, Sora summons one of Roxas' keyblades instead of his own. Game: 0 Manga: 2

@@stealthy9156 Yeah I think it was riku as well. Or at the very least I think it's what nomura intended roxas to mean but then the understanding got a bit mixed up.
Oh, man. That "Tell me why he picked you" part. I didn't realize that the moment he realized why, he was in the air staring at Sora on Sora's heart, surrounded by portraits of his friends. Based on the other hearts we've seen, it takes a lot for a portrait to get permanently placed in your heart. And Sora has 4. The only other person we've seen with as many or more is Snow White, who had such an easy time making connections - not only did she have the 7 dwarves, but also all the woodland critters! Even Ventus didn't have portraits, only the wayfinders representing his friends.

I recently finished kh2 and for me personally this was the hardest boss fight. After all... it’s pretty hard playing with tears streaming down your eyes 😭
I know right? I got to play this boss fight for the first time just a couple months ago, and it's my favorite in the game. Such a shame it was never on the original.
Roxas really is the best character man. It’s such a shame the best two characters (him and Aqua) have the most tragic stories, but that’s what makes them great. I know KH3 will probably give them happy endings but idk if I want that. But at the same time I do? Idk man time will tell I guess
Ventus had it far worse than Aqua. Saw the devastation and death of the Keyblade War first hand, thrown into the far future with zero memories, got his heart split in two and nearly died, nearly got murdered by his so called master over something he had no control over and then had to essentially destroy his heart again just to defeat Vanitas and destroy the X-Blade. And if you go by the novels Vanitas had just as bad.
hmm yeah we got happy ending for them and to be honest they deserve it but it kinda ruins all the meaning their stories had and the conclusion of their characters, idk I would actually like if KH's timeline ended at the second game, no matter how tragic it would be, it would be way better than "Everybody is now conveniently together again and happy, but sora is """"""dead""""""" ending.
I wanted to feel sad, but after dying over and over and over and over (even on Standard mode), all I can think of while watching this scene is “THANK GOD!!!”

Ever since Saix told Sora about the heartless and Org 13’s plan Sora’s heart has been wavering, he’s been losing his will to fight, so Roxas stepped up and made him steady his heart. They must’ve added this fight to this version of the game. I just completed the original and I don’t remember having to actually fight him, just remember the cutscene afterwards.
You know what's the worst feeling in the world? Starting with kingdom heart 365 days as your first kh game as a kid. I grew up Watched the story countless time believing Roxas was himself and truly nobody else and only to find out he was sora's nobody I hated Sora for existing since I just wanted my main character Roxas to continue and keep on having those happy moments with his friends It broke me so badly. It got worse and worse as I grew up understanding more and more man :(
Somebody with nothing against to lose, Roxas has had everything taken from at this point. You feel the pure anger and frustration as he hammers his keyblades down on yours. Though by defeating him he can finally be a part of you. Easily my favourite boss fight in the series. Also the music is absolutely incredible.
I like coming back to your channel now and then to see Kingdom Hearts videos because you beat those KH bosses in a way it doesn't looks so easy, so it reminds me some of my feelings when I faced them for the first time many years ago. Also it looks way more enjoyable than seeing a badass character getting destroyed as a puppet lol Thanks for the great content.
Yeah, but with reflect (reflera, reflega) at least you can deal some damage, whereas guard doesn't. I dunno, to each his own I guess, but blocking is essential, don't just run head first in without covering yourself, that's just stupid.
After all those years, and this is still one of the scenes in KH that hits me just as hard as the first time I saw it. What makes it even more sad is that this happens right after Axel died. Roxas hearing Axel's last words "he made me feel...like I had a heart" and seeing his best friend die through Sora's eyes triggered this, and filled him with grief and anger; leading to him wanting to understand once and for all why it had to be Sora.
this fight of sora and roxas is a real epic one for sora fights what's basically a clone of him and it really brings out his potential, just like his fight with riku. in the end, soras the winner, just goes to show you can't f*** with the original.
Something I just realized is how this scene is a lot more impactful than I thought. Roxas challenges Sora beforr Sora challenges the Organization something he was going to do before Riku stopped him
Throughout the entire fight it seems like he has no energy. He’s always trying to catch his breath when he talks as well. When he traps Sora’s key blade, his keyblades have a sway to them. Like he is struggling just to stand.
Numba XV Actually when you do the successful command for "the end " you briefly steal oathkeeper and oblivion, which is why you do more damage and Roxas can only attack with light
@@zealot246 When I stole his Keyblades, I still had a hard time getting to Roxas with 3 blades I ended up thinking it's better for Roxas to take them back. His light really kicked my ass worse than having to fight him normally.
The final mix versions of these games is like watching the extended version of a movie I like and seeing a scene thinking, “Wow! The film flows well without this scene. But at the same time, why would they cut this scene?”
2:55 Funniest yet best moment of the game. Its actually funny of you realize the origins of each Keyblade that Roxas weilds, and it makes sense that Sora would be able to strip them away from Roxas. In my theory,Oathkeeper was forged in the light of Kairi's memories while Oblivion was forged from the darkness of his memories with Riku. Fundamentally and in a sense of logic, these two keyblades originally belonged too Sora,so its begs the question of why Roxas has both of them in the first place
You know people Say that After this Roxas should not appear. Though the fact that he was so alive that he got himself an Heart demonstrate US how Sora and everyone connected to him Is special. Hope next KH games won't make US wait
This scene always made no sense to me. How couldn't Sora recognize Oblivion and Oathkeeper? Especially Oathkeeper, the keyblade he got through Kairi's help? And how could Donald and Goofy, who up to this point were *confident* that Keyblades don't grow on trees not even for one second be astounded by the fact that someone from the Organization had one, too? I love Roxas' arc, but it's strange how it was told through the perspective of the Trio. For all they know, Mickey, Sora and Riku are the only people capable of wielding keyblades.
This is the epitome of an emotion boss battle. Not only is roxas rude. He’s a tank. Then you have have to hurt him after the sad beginning my god. Kingdom hearts is my bible.
I love Roxas' story arc. His mere existence hurts the side of good. He fights to exist not to help evil but to just... exist. Once the Organization turns on him, he runs and tries to survive. They must’ve added this fight to this version of the game. I just completed the original and I don’t remember having to actually fight him, just remember the cutscene afterwards.
*sees Sleeping Lion*
Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.
The look is okay but the stats and ability is pretty trash for when you get it
Should have gone for decisive pumpkin but i understand wanting extra range, still decisives ground combo game is nuts.
@@Eg-ej6nx real gamers use the kingdom key throught the entire game
or is it just me? ok :(
Oblivion for the win!
"You make a good other." -Roxas
Such a game :´(
:(
"Nobody" can defeat riku... hahah so true, roxas did hahaha he's a nobody
Riku hesitated, otherwise he never would've need to resort to his Trump Card
Didn't Riku win that fight?
No No yes and no. He couldn’t beat him by himself and had to resort to Xehanorts powers
No No He did beat Roxas. And would beat him again, since now he’s a keyblade master.
@@Sheenulus He best Riku. Then Riku let his *darkness* out and... yeah. And Roxas doesn't remember much about his past life.
Roxas and Axled having to say goodbye :(
"You Make A Good Me" Y_________Y
Why couldn't he be his own person in the end :(
it's nice seeing someone beat it on one of the easiest difficulties instead of critical
Joshua Flask he still sucked tho
It’s was so hard to play that fight because of how meaningful this fight is and how much emotion is in the song
The best fight two keyblade holders clashing plus the soundtrack is insane
Just can't wait for 3
The most difficult part of this fight was beating him 😭
I wanted roxas to win
You and me both
You're both idiots then Roxas is Sora's Bitch remember
@@DannyHsn Says the true idiot.
If Roxas won, it would destroy the kh universe. Be happy that he's back, I know I was.
You know what's the worst feeling in the world?
Starting with kingdom heart 365 days as your first kh game as a kid.
I grew up
Watched the story countless time believing Roxas was himself and truly nobody else and only to find out he was sora's nobody
I hated Sora for existing since I just wanted my main character Roxas to continue and keep on having those happy moments with his friends
It broke me so badly.
10:19 You're right Donald. Nobody CAN defeat Riku!
I like coming back to your channel now and then to see Kingdom Hearts videos because you beat those KH bosses in a way it doesn't looks so easy, so it reminds me some of my feelings when I faced them for the first time many years ago. Also it looks way more enjoyable than seeing a badass character getting destroyed as a puppet lol
Thanks for the great content.
> The marks on Axel's eyes prevents him from crying
> Roxas disappears and Axel cries anyways
Sora: But who are you?
Roxas: You're on critical mode .
He beat Roxas in the noobest way possible.
Infernape because Critical gives you less hp compared
i played on PROUD.
THE ONE DIFFICULTY NOBODY CARES ABOUT.
I agree, like, has he never heard of reflect?
Or Guard. Guard is like your best friend in Kingdom Hearts 2, but this guy barely uses it.
Roxas hearing Axel's last words "he made me feel...like I had a heart" and seeing his best friend die through Sora's eyes triggered this, and filled him with grief and anger; leading to him wanting to understand once and for all why it had to be Sora.
one of the greatest kh fights in the series
the best however is lingering will
this fight of sora and roxas is a real epic one for sora fights what's basically a clone of him and it really brings out his potential, just like his fight with riku. in the end, soras the winner, just goes to show you can't f*** with the original.
The sound Roxas makes when he gets defeated makes me wanna cry
Sora believed in Roxas when no one else did that's why hes my favorite
Still love the Roxas Arc and him
just a preference
You know it's a tough boss when the UA-cam guy almost dies in the first two minutes of his video. Thank God reflect is such an OP magic attack.
Epic cutscene + beautiful music = Epic KH battle
Something I just realized is how this scene is a lot more impactful than I thought. Roxas challenges Sora beforr Sora challenges the Organization something he was going to do before Riku stopped him
I love how after being fatally struck in the chest he just stumbles forward, and gets back up
Throughout the entire fight it seems like he has no energy. He’s always trying to catch his breath when he talks as well. When he traps Sora’s key blade, his keyblades have a sway to them. Like he is struggling just to stand.
The first videogame that made me cry.
hey who put this bowl of onions here
This whole video is the reason why Kingdom Hearts 2 is really one of my favorite video games I’ve ever played in my life
Being lv 48 on crit mode makes this fight feel like hell sometimes
5 years later and i still cry again ;_;
In the manga, Sora was able to use Roxas' keyblade against him. Too bad they couldn't use that in the game.
Kingdom Hearts 1 Introduced me to RPGs. And Kingdom Hearts II made me love them.
The final mix versions of these games is like watching the extended version of a movie I like and seeing a scene thinking, “Wow! The film flows well without this scene. But at the same time, why would they cut this scene?”
My favorite fight in the series and definitely my favorite ost
I genuinely cried why am I like this
Same, because it is a REALLY sad game :(
The fact that we can see he’s discovering the fight for the first time make it feel more comfortable 🔥
8:59 Axel's tear really got me
2:55 Funniest yet best moment of the game.
Kingdom hearts 358/2 days is the depressions game
You know people Say that After this Roxas should not appear.
Though the fact that he was so alive that he got himself an Heart demonstrate US how Sora and everyone connected to him Is special.
Hope next KH games won't make US wait
Even if this fight is easy it's easily one of my favorites.
The feels in this battle....were strong.
To this day I think fighting key blade users is the most fun thing ever
"Right back at ya, buddy."
Most beautiful boss fight music. Who else plays the Garden of Assemblage just to here this
for every member of the organization, take the x away from their names and it'll form their real names
Ambitionary an anagram of their real names that is
if that's the case, then what is marluxia's or Larxene's name?
millenniumpidgey Demyx, Luxord, Marluxia, and Larxene's human knames are unknown. but for example ROXAS is SORA+X and then jumbled up.
yeah I'm well aware from reading the ansem reports
SidedPhoenix I'll guess that Demyx's name is Dyme, and Luxord is Dorul. The other two are mysteries to me.
This is the epitome of an emotion boss battle. Not only is roxas rude. He’s a tank. Then you have have to hurt him after the sad beginning my god. Kingdom hearts is my bible.
