  • I am sharing the process of hand forging a fire poker, using traditional methods of blacksmithing, side draft forge and stone coal.
A piece of metal I used is a square steel bar 14x14mm, 40cm long.
Blacksmithing techniques: drawing, endless drawing, twisting, untwisting and bending.
The tools are: anvil, rounding hammer, heavy hammer, blacksmith vise, bending fork, blacksmith's tongs, wire brush.. You can use file / rasp for finishing as well.
I did not use a power hammer, but if you have one - feel free to make your life easier =)
About the twist: once I was experimenting with a pineapple twist and decided to forge it without making the cuts. I really liked the result, so I am sharing it with you! Hope you find the twist interesting, too!
We decided to impress you with our epic editing skills to save you from the boredom of endless hammering somewhere in the middle of the video! If you liked it, please, let us know! =)
Hope you will find out something new about blacksmithing and enjoy your visit to our small countryside workshop!
If you like the video, please, let us know by leaving a like - your kind support is always so motivating!

Also, I absolutely love your B role and, if I ever get around to editing to post content rather than just doing live streams, I’m going to take inspiration from it.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Jared!!! The good energy circle really makes us create more!!! We will take these fire pokers to our favourite craft market of the year, which will take place at the Open air Museum of Latvian Ethnography. Hope they will find their new owners! Greetings from Sun Hills as usual!!!

Nice work kind of like the handle but we call that a coal drag not a fire poker
