i had always heard about this film from nancy and others but could never find the film. looked again for the first time in years, here it is uploaded in 2018. this is fantastic, thanks for the upgrades and such as well! muuuuch appreciated, glad to see all of this punk history become archived as it should be.
I was just coming to the end of my School life and making the step up to “adult” life and work, 16 was a blinding time. No mobiles, no iPads but I had fun and saw lots of bands, music still plays a huge part in my life, lockdown has been a real git.
1913 saw riots at the premiere of Igor Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' in Paris. Decadent, outrageous and wrong were the comments. This isn't music etc ... Nothing's changed. Great posting this piece of history .
Fuckin hell. That was pop journo Giovanni Dadomo anti Pistols. He ended up in a spoof punk band himself The Snivelling Shits 'I Can't Come' which was great. And he co-wrote songs for the Damned. He seemed so Straight there.
At least twice i spotted siouxie.....but only recognised her from the bill grundy interview Eyes and ears open Mouth silent Get the timing right Enter the banshees🎯
malcolm hartley the only Derek Jarman footage is some silent super 8 footage from Andrew Logans loft party which bits may appear in this. This movie was assembled purely by Julien Temple though.
Sex Pistols Maniac Yeah makes sense, Temple was an eclectic filmmaker, often using 'found' footage directed by others. I guess Jarman and the other credited guy were big enough to eventually get a credit for their stuff being used. Although there appears to be other footage called 'number one' on here too, attributed to both.
malcolm hartley yeah, all this stuff Temple filmed by pointing a camera at a television with a v2000 video player owned by Paul Cook playing the video of stuff recorded by Cookie, aswell as other bits Malcolm Mclaren had.
Matlock was great yeah but sid had more character and a better look ok he wasn't the best bass player in the band . But he was a great showman in this iconic circus
