- No damage bypass of an Kwikset Smartkey keypad lockset. No keys and dead batteries. After backing out the screws and throwing the latch bolt, you can snap the face cap back on. Nondestructive entry.

Very smart, I never knew the plate was removable. It might be worth plugging the backs of those holes with cap screws and JB weld.

What gen of smartlock is that? Does this work with gen3 or newest ??
Mine is the kwikset 912 and so not a deadbolt. It's a smart key lock with a handle. The battery is dead and I can't find the key. Anyone knows how I can still unlock this without damaging it?
I tried this method and it worked up until the drilling part. How did you get the lock off the door?
Once you have the cover off, and you can see the screws, take a small drill bit so it does not ruin the threads and drill forward slowly. The pressure will actually unscrew the screws that hold the lock on the door. Once the lock is in your hand just twist the lock and the tailpiece will unlock the door
How long should we be drilling?
As you drill in you will feel the holding mounting screw loosen to the point where it releases
