A refillable pressurized water can would be a good addition to the ladder or header area. You get a lot of bang for your buck with that and it costs nothing to refill and recharge. You can do it at the farm. Just make sure you empty it or take it inside for the winter. Great job getting it put out, with the wind that would have taken off.
Add some Dawn dish soap to that water extinguisher, the surfactant in the soap will make the water go farther. Call the fire department first then they can be on the way while you put the fire out. They never mind coming out even if the fire is out when they get there.
Exaclty! Chemical extinguishers are horrible on class A fires because they can't absorb the heat. You can put out a lot of fire with a 2 1/2 gallon water can
As a farmer that married a teacher I can vouche for the '' I married a wife not a hired hand!'' comment. My wife also appreciated it. Keep up the good work and the great videos!
110 degrees here today in Oklahoma...................Mowing and cutting is a NO, NO today. Cole, you handled that fire issue dang good!...............Bravo!
Holy Cra_!!!!! YOU had me sitting on the edge of my seat cheering you on all the way Cole... You said your going home to get some lunch but didn't mention a NEW Pair of shorts 😁😅🤣😅🤣 All kidding aside You kept your head & definitely saved that whole field... Hugs & Blessings Cole, Mom, Dad & Jeff💙🤗✝️... GBY ALL 🙏❤️💙💙🤗✝️
Great seeing Uncle Jeff in the video. I’m glad you were able to get that fire under control quickly since it looked like you had some windy conditions.
Good hustle on the fire! That wind could have made it far worse in a hurry. As for the “she ain’t a farm girl” comment..... doesn’t matter where she was born and bred, what matters is if she’s willing to pull in tandem, once hitched. Sounds like she is!
For years my father kept a 4020 full of diesel by our front gate. It was attached to a14’ tandem disk. All of our neighbors knew the keys were in it. You stop a grass fire by suffocation and plowing works. Great job Cole
Whew, I was getting nervous there for you Cole, did a good job to get that fire stomped out and cut out! Looks like those gates should help you guy's in working and sorting the cattle. Your dad is a funny man, love his sense of humor, of course you may have a different take on it. Good to see Jeff. Great video, thanks for sharing, have an awesome week.
2 1/2 gallon water fire extinguisher. You can put window washer fluid in it so you don't have to worry about it freezing up. Get a couple, 1 for combine and 1 for the windrower. You can fill them yourself, just uses 100 psi from the air compressor to charge it.
That wind blowing the grass could be disorienting. My hat's off to you Cole for your quick thinking to isolate the fire with your machine. That grass just looked too green to take off like that, but the wind make all the difference. I think you ought to take Ricky out behind the barn and have a talk with about how rude he was to squat in your buildings.
I like that quick thinking!! Y'all are doing a great job out there!! Farming can be dangerous in so many ways but I know you guys can handle it. Thanks for the video.
I don't know anything about fire extinguishers, but having bigger ones and/or more than one is probably a good idea. You handled that well, so give yourself a pat on the back! Love watching that pile driver on your skid steer. We all need one of those once in awhile! Thanks for another "exciting" video.
No need to watch other channels - it's all right here at Sonne Farms, cattle, crops and comedy! Cole seriously - awesome quick thinking to stop that field fire! Uncle Jeff is a beast.
Holy you had me clenching my cheeks when i saw that fire not going out. I was relieved to see you’re smart. As soon as the extinguisher didnt work i was screaming drive it over with the combine and engage the blades. You were in sync with my thoughts. Good stuff bruv
So glad you got that fire under control. It is horrible to watch things burn as I have so many times as a fire fighter. It pays to have plans in place. I have radio communications here on our property because cell service is horrible here in Pa where I live. God bless you guys and we’re praying for God to bless your harvest this year
You need to get a 2 1/2 (not 5, brain fart) gal pressured water extinguisher for that type of fire. It can be refilled easy and recharged by you. That dry chemical or whatever you used isn't the best for that type of fire.
George strait going to redo his video of they call me a fireman and let you be the star. At any rate job well done young man. Way to be quick on your feet. I’ve got an extinguisher that holds about 3 gallons of water with compressed air. I keep one on the tractor and one mounted on the baler. Atta boy is all I can say
I'm amazed at the number of bad things that can happen to farmers and ranchers in the course of a season. I admire anyone who is in the agricultural industry. We need to think of, and be thankful to you when we go to the supermarket and casually fill our carts so easily with all the good products with which you provide us. Farmers and ranchers are the salt of the earth, and we are all indebted to you. God bless you all.
While I’m a small city dweller, I chased two raccoons off my screened in porch last night. Each got a BB to the butt. It was at dusk and they came in via our cat door (now known as raccoon door). No - we do not leave food outside. In Ohio, you can only relocate to your own property. Last time I hired a trapper - I caught 6 cats and one raccoon.😂
Dang, crisis averted! I used to never worry about fires, but then one day my carburetor on the truck caught fire. I got lucky and used my shirt to suffocate it before it caught more of the vehicle. Now I keep a CO² fire extinguisher as well as a standard behind the seat of that and my race car, and anything else with obvious potential. Same with the garage or anywhere sparks are created, although I like to have variety there. The reason for various types is the damage a powder extinguisher can cause. If I can put it out with water or CO², I can save a LOT of headache. Especially something like an engine that can ingest it, which is another dual purpose- suffocate a running engine. Anyway, they are so cheap compared to a new machine, or at worst, burned down buildings and loss of life. You can NEVER have enough extinguisher., and they are still never big enough. Remember kids, these things last mere seconds. When built up grass on your shredder or chaff gets hot and jammed up, it's a fireball waiting to happen.
I'm glad you got the fire out as fast as you did. Believe me when I tell you I was not breathing the entire time. I also hope there was no damage done to the header. 🔥🔥🔥🦝🦝🦝
First thing you do is tinkle on the burning grass. Then walk on it. With that wind I guess it was lucky you got it down quick as you did. Powder extinguishers just make fires mad. Tinkle then trample. I could hear the fear in your voice. If you're gonna use water an old ministry pack pump for smudges is a fire killer. you can pump while you squirt. That's what the lever is for. I think it holds about four gallons. Anything but powder on a grass fire. You will hear this a dozen times now so I will stop. You did good with what you had. Good video. Pax.
On your Brandt 1547 there is a hose from the muffler to the intake that should be removed on the muffler side when it is above 45 degrees. I can see that it is still hooked up. That will cook the rings and void the warranty if not removed. It is there to keep the intake from icing up in low temperatures. I'm a Brandt dealer in Northeast Montana as well as a Kohler certified technician.
Thinking that some type of water storage should be attached to the haying tractor to address these spot fires. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of a cure
Dang glad you were able to keep that fire under control! Like you thought yourself 3" inches of rain not that long ago would seem like a safety measure against a fire, in my area of clay type soil it might have been. Your rich soil goes deep and must soak it up fast, great farmland. Liked the fast thinking on your feet of using the cutter to put it out!
One of our neighbours barley fields just had 6 fire engines trying to get under control as it's been really dry with temperatures between 90f in the shade and 107 in the sun
We bought a Toro commercial mower in 2006 I think. We just sold it a couple of months ago. It had a couple of thousand hours on it. It was still going strong. We bought a Scag commercial mower - 37 hp to replace it. That thing doesn’t care. It’ll cut ANYthing ! Glad your fire didn’t go crazy. Congrats on that. Have a better week for the rest of it.
Nothing like a little pucker feeling with a fire in a field of grass. Especially since the wind would of sent it across very quickly. Glad it turned out well
Time for Cole and Tiffany to take Ricky to the Black Hills round Rapid City to relocate him. On the way they are to counsell him on starting life anew away from his family how to make new friends and fend for himself in a new wild area.
Your comment about Tiffany jumping in without being asked and grabbing those sacks of pre-mix reminds me of my wife. She doesn't think anything of it. I remember a few months ago you were calving and there was a brief shot of Tiffany observing a calf being born. She didn't seem grossed out by it at all. You may unknowingly have yourself a farm girl!
It would do you good is to carry a 5 gallon pressurized water can- Refillable. With a little dish soap works great. Soap will cut the surface tension of the burning material and put the fire out.
I gotta admit, that fire had me sweating!! I was seeing that whole dang field going up in smoke. Without Cheech and Chong there too! Good thinkin Cole, you handled that well. I would have been afraid the wind from the cutters would have fanned the fire and made it worse. You done GOOOD!! EDIT!! About that mower, if I can't watch your videos from it, I don't want it. Let the dang grass grow!! I'll stay in here and watch the videos thank you!! It is a little cooler and the ice in my tea don't melt so quick. Thanks for another great video guys. I had the joy of working with a guy like Jeff. He was a Vernon. Big strong gently giant of a man that could (and would) lift, tote, bend, break, manhandle, move, anything that needed such handling. And, with the other hand, could cuddle a week old baby and soothe it to sleep. Loved that man..
Cole started the fire, love Brian's sense of humour !!!!!!
Cole, you are the Man!! Didn't panic and mowed the heck out of those flames!! Really great work. 🤗🤗😎😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Nice to see Jeff, Your dad has an AWSOME sense of humor.......I'm still laughing about the song of the day!!!!!!
She might not be a farm girl but she will hold her own and help Cole with whatever she can possible. That's what a wife does. 💅💪
Look forward to the South Dakota Public Broadcasting of Sonne Farms and Storla Station.
A beautiful sonne day
Your dad is hilarious ❤
The worst feeling is when a parent won’t answer the phone in an emergency no matter how old you are 😂😂
Great video Cole and Brian

Add about 3 oz. Dawn to it to emulsify and it just about triples effectivenous
I was going to suggest the same thing, I have found chemical extinguishers don't seem to work well on grass.
Exaclty! Chemical extinguishers are horrible on class A fires because they can't absorb the heat. You can put out a lot of fire with a 2 1/2 gallon water can
Same here. Found one on EBay for about $80. After filling with water just add a squeeze of dish soap. Then close and pressurize.
As a farmer that married a teacher I can vouche for the '' I married a wife not a hired hand!'' comment. My wife also appreciated it. Keep up the good work and the great videos!
My grandpa would say the same thing.
Cole started the fire 🔥 🤣😅🤣
Great job getting it put out, I was freaking!
Good job stopping the fire, Cole. I never saw you move so fast! 😂🤣😉
I’m glad it wasn’t windier, or that fire might’ve gotten away from you.
Good video Cole & Brian & Jeff
Boys yal stay safe !!
Thank you Sonne farms!!
Favorite UA-cam channel (sonne farms)

Ok, my heart was racing when the fire extinguisher ran out. So thankful you were able to put it out. Great job and quick thinking Cole.
Great seeing Uncle Jeff in the video. I’m glad you were able to get that fire under control quickly since it looked like you had some windy conditions.

Lmbo good one Brian at the end of video.
Good job Colt put fire 🔥 out.
Ellie was scared of coon
Brian you are funny. Song of the day. I laughed so hard I had to watch it again and again. I’m still laughing 😂
For years my father kept a 4020 full of diesel by our front gate. It was attached to a14’ tandem disk. All of our neighbors knew the keys were in it. You stop a grass fire by suffocation and plowing works. Great job Cole
Very true had a wheat straw fire and thats how it was put out
Your Uncle Jeff is a cool guy!
It brings the nostalgia back when y’all put the post in the ground ,it was always my dad pouring water on and me with the concrete.
Hey Cole and Brian, I just want to say that your videos make my week so enjoyable. Have a nice day everyone!
Smoked hay. Something special for the cattles.
Brian's outro was priceless!
Brian gratz on turning 60, I will be turning 70 on the 28th. It's hell to be old.
Brian makes the funnies so good he cracks himself up.
yeah
You handled that fire like a champ, that outro was hilarious you're dad is a funny wise man
Your a good worker Cole
Thumbs up..😇😇😇. Thank God that everything went well....🙏🙏🙏🙏
Whew, I was getting nervous there for you Cole, did a good job to get that fire stomped out and cut out! Looks like those gates should help you guy's in working and sorting the cattle. I love your dad he is hilarious
I love it so freaking much when Brian cracks up at his own jokes. Makes me laugh too, every time. Glad you got the fire under control!!
lol
Good old german farm, America wouldn’t be the same without you
Brian and I are from the same old school. It is a Father's obligation to embarrass their child at every opportunity.
Your dad is a hoot.
2 1/2 gallon water fire extinguisher. You can put window washer fluid in it so you don't have to worry about it freezing up. Get a couple, 1 for combine and 1 for the windrower. You can fill them yourself, just uses 100 psi from the air compressor to charge it.
Thisssss
Beat me to it! Was thinking the same thing.
A lot of washer fluids have alcohol in them and don’t put out fires ask me how I know….
@@timhunsaker they shouldn't have that much, if the windshield washer burns the alcohol content is to high and people will start drinking it.
You can add just a drizzle of dawn dish soap will stretch your water a bit more. But a 2.5 gallon pressurized extinguisher or two will save the day.
That wind blowing the grass could be disorienting. My hat's off to you Cole for your quick thinking to isolate the fire with your machine. Brian's got JOKES!
You handled that really well. Nice going.
Be sure to post the link when the Storla Station feature airs. Great to hear it's getting some publicity.
Great job of keeping your wits about you during a stressful situation Cole 👍
Pretty impressive keeping a camera rolling while being fireman.
So glad you got that fire under control. It is horrible to watch things burn as I have so many times as a fire fighter. It pays to have plans in place. I have radio communications here on our property because cell service is horrible here in Pa where I live. God bless you guys and we’re praying for God to bless your harvest this year
Yeah crazy move but saved the field very smart guy
Brain you're a hoot🤣🤣
Your videos never disappoint. Thank you for sharing. Glad to see you didn’t lose the field or the equipment.
You need to get a 2 1/2 (not 5, brain fart) gal pressured water extinguisher for that type of fire. It can be refilled easy and recharged by you. That dry chemical or whatever you used isn't the best for that type of fire.

Good day
I bet u were glad u got the hay fire out. Enjoyed watching 👍👍

Thanks for sharing
0:15…an unintentional foreshadowing! Lol
That was some quick thinking man and I’m not sure I would have ever thought of that it was smart and some very quick thinking good on you man🤘
I have Willie Joel's Box Set - love that guy!

fires suk on the farm, sometimes you feel almost helpless, your quick thinking with the cutter worked great👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🚜🚜👨🌾😎
One of our neighbours barley fields just had 6 fire engines trying to get under control as it's been really dry with temperatures between 90f in the shade and 107 in the sun
Glad the fire was controllable. Thanks for helping to make 10% of my gas!
Uncle Jeff is the BEST
Cole I work for one of the menards in Sioux Falls, you have no idea how many tons of concrete I move in a day 😂
You handled that like a rock star. Way to work under pressure. Takes a lot of gonads to drive an implement into a fire.
Gotta love when a new Sonne Farms is uploaded!
Wow! that was close Cole.
O my goodness I'm so glad you are ok and the field is ok

WOW I had a fire situation in the past and man it can be scary. Great job putting it out.! You kept your head
That’s a good one Brian

I like. He married a wife not a hired hand. I love thar
Brian that was a good joke, for song of day lol cole stated the fire 🔥 😂 ☠️

I recently saw these fire extinguishers demonstrated on Mann Family Farms channel and they are impressive. "Stop Fyre "
Hell! I was about to run out and get my garden hose🙀
I was never a farm girl either, but have been a farm wife for 51 years.
