#LOST SOUNDTRACK ANALYSIS (Michael Giacchino's score)
"All that matters is that we felt it!"
Desmond returns, and brings with him a new theme that will take over the score of LOST as we head for the show's endgame. But he's not the only character with a new theme...
    🖐🎸🏟
So many years after the show's ending, Michael Giacchino's amazing soundtrack for LOST still has many, many secrets to uncover. Not only does every main character have their own theme music, but much like the interconnected writing of the show itself, Giacchino's score connects locations, scenes, emotions and conflicts in unbelievably brilliant ways. For the foreseeable future, I will be exploring Michael Giacchino's soundtrack from ABC's LOST in a weekly video, covering all episodes of the show and their musical connections to each other.

Do you have your own Bible of notes on each motif, each track and each episode of the show? The amount of work this analysis series must have taken... Huge props.

Thanks a lot! Not exactly -- just tons and tons of rewatches. :) It's all done from memory. However, I AM making a list of all the recurring themes and motifs as I'm working my way through this video project. It lists the names of the themes/motifs and their (minimal) number of appearances. I've uploaded this document (up to season 4) via the following link: www.docdroid.net/EHlUaf7/lost-all-themes-and-motifs-pdf I will post an updated version once I've finished season 6! When all is done, I might make a list in video form as well... But that will obviously take a lot of time, given the fact that there's over 500 of them. ;)

Thanks a lot for making these videos. There are so many cool stuff you've pointed out that I've never thought of, or would've never know about honestly!

I was starting to wonder if you were taking a long break. Great to have you back!:D There's something about the violas in the beginning (especially when he's talking to Eloise) that reminds me of that string theme from "The Leftovers". Or it might be because I connect season 6 with that show.
I fully agree with you. Widmore's new theme is awesome. All variations of it.

Not just yet! But these may be coming out a biiit less frequently. :) Totally hear what you mean when comparing this to The Leftovers theme!

I found this channel trying to find the track from when Jack finds the caves in season 1. I think you had recently uploaded that episode just then, been a great ride. Thx for the videos :) Oh and I never found an official release anyone have some luck with that?

Thanks a lot! I fear that track was never released on the official soundtracks. It's so good!

In the "Get out of Jail Free Card" scene, I'm having trouble picking out Hurley's theme? Is it in the cellos?
Edit: Oh never mind I listened to the track I hear it. It's just not in the video.
And that's impressive how many times this new theme is in the last few episodes. Are there other themes used that much in a specific span of time? The main theme in Season 1 and the Others' Action Theme in Season 3 come to mind for me.

You're right, I had to cut it because the alternative would be to have that scene play out for two minutes. 😆 UA-cam would probably not have allowed that.
Ooh, good question. The ones you mentioned probably come closest, but I'm not sure even those themes are played THAT often in the span of 8 episodes. The main theme is played the most in season 1, but that season in general doesn't have as much score as the later seasons. By season 4, it's pretty rare to have a scene with no music at all. Ben's theme comes to mind, Jacob's theme is obviously one (40+ times total, despite being introduced in the season 5 finale)... In general, Locke's theme is probably played most, appearing in more than half of all episodes.
