This generation cannot understand why this was so special back then, nowadays people are used to binge watching entire shows in a weekend, and that is just impossible with Lost. Part of the magic was analyzying every episode to bits, theorizing with friends and family this great puzzle of life and mystery being portrayed before your eyes. The greatest TV experience i'm sure ill ever have, can't wait to watch it with my kids when the time comes.
I don’t know man I just recently watched it for the first time on Hulu and watched maybe around one or two episodes a night and I still thought it was pretty great
So very true. But if you’re into this sort of thing, I loved watching the channel Hogwarts Reacts watch Lost, because they get to do this exact thing. They’re a group of 4, and 1 of them is a longtime fan so he helps guide them with discussion and theorizing. It’s truly such a fun journey to watch, but you get to rewatch a chopped up version of the great show but also while watching 3 people experience it for the first time.
Obviously this started back in 2004, and I was only 9. Yet I was still madly engrossed with it. Then it moved channels in something like season 3/4 so there was a gap where I couldn't watch it again until around 2011 when I visited America and they were replaying some episodes. Got back to the UK and my Mum bought me the full boxset and was able to complete the journey. And I still can't think of a show I thought of more, or one that had had such an emotional impact. Grew up with it, and I'm 25 now. Never found another show like it.
The story, acting, production and cinematography was some of the best I've ever seen... but this music was the soul of the series. Absolutely unforgettable..🥺
There will never be an experience like LOST again. It just captivated anyone who watched it. I wish i could clear my memory and watch it again for the first time. This show touched my soul. I dont even watch tv anymore but i still think about what journey this was. There will never be another show or movie that can replicate what this show did to people. "ill see you in another life brother"
This, in my opinion, is not the greatest show of all time, THAT is reserved for BREAKING BAD, but...THIS WAS TRULY AN AWESOME SHOW. I still can't watch the series finale (and I've seen it 30 or 35 times) without bawling...beautifully written and acted!!!
I had a friend who told me once "dont you ever see Lost! there are six seasons and no ending! There's no ending, no explanation!" and I took her advice for years. But now in quarentine I decided to start watching and I am freaking loving it! I Just finished the fourth season yesterday, Im 29 years old, best decision I have ever made
So much time passed since the first time I've visited the island and I watched the show countless times. Ever since then I feel like Jack once he left the island, I just want to go back. A part of me never left and sometimes I get very sad about it. When I tell my friends about it they just laugh or roll their eyes because they can't feel what I feel and I realise I'm all alone. So to everyone who feels the same: we're all gonna be on 815 together in this life or another life
Well you're not alone. I expercience the exact same feelings. The others :-) don't understand that. Not a day passes without playing some music from Lost. This has been going on since 2013. In good and bad times. I guess I have a problem moving on.
I can seriously relate to that feeling too. Of feeling this powerful sense of Belonging and Creating Significant Unbreakable Bonds. And then having to leave it and go back to this World of Hollow, Lazy Emptiness and constantly craving and aching to return to the Place where Your Role was so Valued and Cherished in a Real Way. It SERIOUSLY fucking sucks.
I have to say that you are not alone, I can relate to those feelings and situations. I feel like Juliet who came to the island expecting one thing and found a completely different picture and was never able to leave again. but not in a negative way, I feel represented by the Juliet who decided to stay on the island for more than just two weeks when she had the chance to leave. I don't think I will ever want to leave the island, a part of me lives there forever. So I guess I'll see you in another life.
If you guys think back to when Lost first came out and how crazy this show was to people. This show came out at a time when there were no streaming services, and at a time when shows didn't follow patterns in how seasons were filmed. What I mean is that it's pretty crazy that there were 25 episodes in one season, some seasons of shows today are only 12 episodes long. This was the first show people seemed to really want to binge watch, because the story was created in a way where if you were a huge fan, you could piece things together and make sense of it, it's cool to me to have to research things in the show and try to understand all of the paranormal stuff that goes on. I like that the creators of the show left a lot unanswered, because as viewers we decide what lost was about, the way we interpret it. A lot of people were mad that everything wasn't explained neatly for them, but frankly this immortalized the show in mysteries that make it one of the best written television series of all time. This show was not monopolized for money, it was written with love and passion
Lol I’m only on season 2 episode 18 and I’m watching for the first time, did u watch thus episode when it first came out and keep up with every episode every week
Really good comment, though i remember hearing at the time that ABC did had their way into stretching 1 or 2 additional seasons due to the great success, thus somewhat affecting the narrative of some seasons.
@@arjunmamidala1138 yes. We used to have to wait a week to watch the next episode (aired on Wednesday nights in the US) and on occasional weeks there was no new episode. Wait months for the new season (seasons usually ran from September to May). I don’t think I have the patience to do that anymore.
still one of the best series of all time, i pushed the button 123 times in a row. every 108 minutes. it was months. doesn't mean much to anyone else.. but to me? i was saving the world.. see you in another life brotha!
I love how (and I bet all you comment readers do too) that this score wakes up every emotion in your soul and then you read the comments and feel so beautifully connected with strangers all over the world, a shared bond over pure love for a cinematic masterpiece, a work of art, that the real Others just call "a tv show." Giacchino is a genius 🖤🎼🖤
I feel like the theme “There’s No Place Like Home” very much sums up how it feels once the final episode ends. Suddenly, you’re not on the island, you’re back home, and there’s a satisfaction in that, but, similar to what I believe Jack realized in his journey, the island will always be the other home we all want to return to. Thank you Lost. You may be an obscure and sometimes disliked show, but all that does is make the experience of finding another fan who felt the core of this masterpiece feel that much more meaningful.
4 8 15 16 23 42. Lost just changed my life in a positive way. So many wisdows spread through the episodes about Love, Hate, Friendship, Meaning of Life, Judging people.... So many great characters. It´s been a long time since watching it but these soundtracks bring back some good memories. Cheers!
lost is the real meaning of being lost , in life and afterlife , in love , in relationships, in friendship , in parenthood, in motherhood , in ego, in almost everything . A show that changed the meaning of everything to everyone. Damn , I wish you'd believed me . see you guys in another life .
I saw Lost once, and then I was lost in it, and I saw it again a few times over the years. I went to visit Hawaii in 2005, and numerous filming locations. I warched it again, and read some books about it. This show is THE best show I ever saw, and I still keep thinking about it, now in August 2023. I still go back to the island in my mind, every day. It fills me with joy, but also with nostalgia and sadness, that life moves on, and memories remain. Lost is what life is all about.
man, this score during the last few episodes, when the cast remembered being on the island, might be one of the most powerful music moments in TV history
Re-Watching it with my 19 year old son (who was a baby when it was first on tv) I was obsessed when it first came out. Now I get to experience it again, but with him. We’re on season 6 episode 7 and, just like all those years ago, I don’t want it to end. The music alone makes me want to cry. Best show ever.
the best show ever! no other can match the complexity, imagination, feeling, sentiment, and heartbreaking sorrow of this show ... it was a real treat watching it and I wish I could erase it from memory so I can watch it again, fresh! and, not to forget the soundtrack! a brilliant set of music that stirs the senses and uplifts the soul
Thank you for making this. It seems silly but I miss this show so much. There was something so magical about it. the music helps bring some of that back. So thank you!
I watched Lost years ago, but just hearing the soundtrack or watching short clips of the show gives me goosebumps and I end up breaking down in tears. I absolutely love everything about it and I always will.
Lost has everything. Lost has without a doubt the best characters with their own background which you follow throughout the series. It contains so many things like adventure, love and science fiction. It also has its moments when you feel some kind of discomfort in some scenens which is a positive thing. For example in season 2 with the button. I mean the fact that you didn't know what would happen was just so mysterious and scary which I loved so much. It's so mysterious and they want the people watching the show to understand it their own way. I love the show so much. I've watched many award winning shows and the music in Lost is the best music there is.
I just found this and I'm so glad. Lost is such an incredible show. Just finished my fifth rewatch last week and have been playing my soundtracks like crazy since. Today is May 23rd. Lost aired it's series finale on May 23, 2010. Guess what I'm watching tonight? This symphony is so beautiful. Simply remarkable work. Michael Giacchino is a genius and his music was such an important part of Lost. It was its own character on the show.
"Your not John Locke. You disrespect his memory by wearing his face but you're nothing like him. Turns out He was right about most everything. I just wish I could have told him that while he was still alive." I love how this show honors its characters.
I was just a boy when I started watching Lost, and I said goodbye to it when I become a young man. It's hard to express how much those stories meant to me, after all these years. So much of that part of my life was emotionally entangled to Lost, so many memories of loved people, and I would never imagined that I would miss a place that exists only in my mind. But sometimes "I need to go back", to feel what I've felt during those days, to find again a bit of that long-past me, for feeling a less "lost" in this grown world. Thank you for your work, brotha. See you in another life.
The Greatest series ever! About the struggles of life and finding its meaning, family, relationships, mourning, good, evil, faith, science. It has everything!!
The greatest music ever written for TV in my opinion. Any music that is so emotional that it brings tears to the eyes when listening to it has to be REALLY special. Some of Pink Floyd's music does the same to me plus classical pieces here and there.
A "LOST" symphony has been a dream of mine for several years now and this comes the closest of realizing that dream. This is done beautifully. Way better than I expected it to be when I clicked on it the first time. Hard to believe this hasn't gotten more attention
Michael Smith Thank you for your kind words Michael. Means a lot. This was created a while ago for pure personal pleasure and took months literally to produce. There's over 40 different tracks from the entire series in this with multiple layering, transposing and mixing in order to make them all come together as one composition. To give you an insight into the amount of layering used, the lead up to the finale here you have 4 different tracks from 3 different series, a full choir and symphonic performance all being used to create what hopefully appears to be just one piece of music 🙂 I didn't put this on here to get views, it's not that relevant any more I guess, but just wanted to share a personal pet project if mine. So to have people like yourself enjoy it too makes it even more satisfying 😉
Thank you for your nice reply, Ems Vids. I can't read or play music and can barely sing a note. But I can still appreciate the complexity and difficulty of what you did. There must have been problems with different keys at least. I'm replying to your reply because I'm hoping you'll be able to answer a question I've always wanted to ask Michael Giacchino. At the end of "Moving On", when the "Life and Death" theme starts there seems to be a simple but profound transformation in that theme. I've always described it as the "Life and Death" theme becomes the "Life After Death" theme. It seems like the actual, technical change in the music is quite subtle - perhaps the extension of a note from a fourth to a sixth for instance - but the effect is overwhelming. For me, that one musical moment sums up six years of "LOST". Can you explain to me in technical terms exactly the change that takes place in the music at that point? If you would like to communicate a little more directly my e-mail is mikathen921@gmail.com.
I dont watch tv anymore, but every now and then I log into my family hulu account and rewatch LOST. I cry EVERY damn episode, the sad moments, the happy moments, the painful moments. And the music is a big reason why! Such a good score.
crcolsen Thank you for your kind words. This was a project that literally took months to source edit and merge. But I loved every minute as Giaccinos score is so stunning.
even as a professional musician, I listen to this music, and quite honestly, I'm amazed ... and I get lost in it (pun intended) ... I don't know how you all feel, after watching this series recently (as I did), or when it first aired, or any time in between ... at times, I feel "consumed" by LOST ... I go about my day, take care of my family, do my work ... but I often see something, or hear something that reminds me of LOST ... sort of like I personally experienced the events and relationships in this show. It's forever affected me ... the feeling I have from my experience with LOST is something not easily understood by my wife, my family, or friends who have not seen it ...
the music of LOST has such a big place in my heart and this track is fantastic - captures the beauty that was LOST. I love listening to it while reading or studying. thank you for creating this! greetings from germany!
Omg im crying! When my older brother was 10-11 he watched Lost, big mistake. He couldn't talk about anything else. When i turned about the same age, maybe older, we watched together. I CRIED. A thousand times. Best thing iv'e ever done. This music always sets the mood, im happy to know its still out there
The music, characters and the story. This was, is and will ever be the best tv show In history, period!! Im watching it for the third time now and every time it feels like the first one.
I am currently watching the series for the 6th time. I learn something new every time I watch it and it’s strictly my opinion but there will never be another series like this …ever .
Just like so many people have said, the music just bring you back to those emotional places. The series finale the last 2 hours is such a heart warming and moving piece of art. My favorite show of all time.
I just finished LOST after watching it for a while and just wow.I can’t believe some people are saying shows like Squid Game or GOT before the 8th seasons is better.Lost is amazing and more people should talk about it
That last note as the simple white "Lost" title fades into view on the black background after Jack closes his eye. Ahhh so beautiful!! Thanks for this great composition :D
I first started watching Lost by renting the DVDs from Blockbuster(and darn proud of it) when I was a kid, and I was instantly hooked from just the first episode, thankfully I was able to catch up by the time the 5th season premiered. I loved the characters, I loved the flashbacks, I loved the twists and turns. Everything about this show was just magical, over 10 years since it ended and it still makes me emotional. And the music reminds so much of why.
Respect and happiness from India, loved the music and the whole series, I watched it for the first time during it's original run and now watching it again on netflix india. I am in love with lost the whole thing, the characters, the music, all the people who made it possible, the storyline, everything.
This was the first show I watched with my now wife. She got me into it and we binged it all way through with enough time to watch the last few episodes of the final season together live. It will always have a very special place in my heart for that.
Thank you whoever you are for putting this together. My dad and I watched this series for 6 years together every Thursday night. This music reminds me of that. And this has captured that feeling. Thanks
I was only 10 when this show came out and 16 when it ended. The best 6 years of my life. My very FIRST show I ever watched from beginning to end and with my dad. I still watch it to this day at age 27 and seen all the missing pieces that I missed the first time around. I think the music from this show, had me wanting to play the violin when I was a kid too. I wished, I never gave that up 😔
Finished watching Lost for the 2nd time. It's like losing a family member or a lifetime friend, leaves an empty hole in your heart that you know will never be filled in again, ever. Love it, many tears shed and it had enormous impact on my life. I'll bring the picture of Charlie drowning or Jack dying at the same spot he lied when the plane crashed to my deathbed.

It’s good that there are a group of people who still loves talking about lost. I’m quit new to this. I’ve only started few weeks ago and I binged and binged and now I’m on the sixth season episode 4. What a great show, plot, character development, not to mention the spectacular actors who wonderfully did their job and obviously Michael Giacchino. Writers of today’s age will never be able to top this.
I can’t believe people talk so much about Game of Thrones when Lost exists. Greatest show of all time.

Love your comment so much 😍
This made my life so much better!
The Greatest series ever! About the struggles of life and finding its meaning, family, relationships, mourning, good, evil, faith, science. It has everything!!
....and the peace which gets born in Love, through loving a partner, who will become the constant in life.
To give you an insight into the amount of layering used, the lead up to the finale here you have 4 different tracks from 3 different series, a full choir and symphonic performance all being used to create what hopefully appears to be just one piece of music 🙂
I didn't put this on here to get views, it's not that relevant any more I guess, but just wanted to share a personal pet project if mine.
Ems Vids it IS relevant. 10 year anniversary is coming up and this vid is the perfect thing to send to Lost fans everywhere in any language.
I dont watch tv anymore, but every now and then I log into my family hulu account and rewatch LOST. I cry EVERY damn episode, the sad moments, the happy moments, the painful moments. And the music is a big reason why! Such a good score.
Oh my gosh! Just discovered this. What a beautiful celebration of one of the best soundtracks (to one of the best TV series). Cheers!
crcolsen Thank you for your kind words.
It's forever affected me ... the feeling I have from my experience with LOST is something not easily understood by my wife, my family, or friends who have not seen it ...
okay this triggers me to look into boxes of dvd's and start to watch Lost again. I really missed Hurley.
hurley was a legend
@Ponyboy Curtis They did tho?
You know that lost is on Disney+ now right?

I know people hate the ending of Lost but I think it’s fantastic it’s all in how you look at things
This absolutely cuts through me and I don't know why.
Just like so many people have said, the music just bring you back to those emotional places. The series finale the last 2 hours is such a heart warming and moving piece of art. My favorite show of all time.
I just finished LOST after watching it for a while and just wow.I can’t believe some people are saying shows like Squid Game or GOT before the 8th seasons is better.Lost is amazing and more people should talk about it
“Pain and suffering is nature’s way of strengthening” - John Locke
Phenomenal job putting this together. This man is a musical genius- one of the greatest soundtracks of any show, ever. Giacchino is amazing
That was a masterpiece.
Lost is a masterpiece without time and space , after years ended nothing in the world of series was not the same , and I thinks never we will
That last note as the simple white "Lost" title fades into view on the black background after Jack closes his eye. Ahhh so beautiful!! Thanks for this great composition :D
Checking back in a year later and this is still sooooooo good! I'm using it as background music while I write my master's thesis. Thanks again :)
This show is still saving my life
I first started watching Lost by renting the DVDs from Blockbuster(and darn proud of it) when I was a kid, and I was instantly hooked from just the first episode, thankfully I was able to catch up by the time the 5th season premiered. I loved the characters, I loved the flashbacks, I loved the twists and turns. Everything about this show was just magical, over 10 years since it ended and it still makes me emotional. And the music reminds so much of why.
Live together, die alone. To all the Lost community, love you all and see you in another life.
❤️
Respect and happiness from India, loved the music and the whole series, I watched it for the first time during it's original run and now watching it again on netflix india. I am in love with lost the whole thing, the characters, the music, all the people who made it possible, the storyline, everything.
From russia with love !! i love lost and india )))
Brilliant. Amazing. Beautiful. Can't find the perfect word for the job you've done. Thank you so much!
I wished, I never gave that up 😔
This is an absolutely incredible piece of work, thank you so much!
It really illustrates the magic that a well composed theme can accomplish. Emotion, love, fear, pain, all there - thank you and bravo M.G.!
Some of the best music of all time imo
Kate said we were leaving...
No, not leaving...moving on 💙
This man gave me goosebumps from 2004 to 2010
Finished watching Lost for the 2nd time.
I cannot and will not ever stop listening to this song
One of the greatest TV series ever produced for the small screen. The music as memorable as the series itself thanks to Giancchino.
Excellent work, my man. Your hours are not wasted on me. I've listened to this hundreds of times. Thank you for this!
Simply the best 👌 👍 😍 🥰 ☺ 💖

This music and the show in general is so beautiful.
THANK YOU for editing this. It was definitely worth the time and effort.
You nailed it! Thank you for your work.
Wow this is so beautiful!! Thank you for creating this. Brings back so many memories ❤️
Thank you for this.
Stunning composition. I've been listening to it endlessly.
