1940s was reasonable tho
@Godless X yeah it was, since it had so much fabric
@Godless X wdym, I agree that majority of these are dumb, but 1940s (and 2010s) was reasonable because of the amount of fabric
@Godless X I am a woman?? And wdym "go to saudi arabia" 💀 All I'm saying is that 1940s was reasonable because it had too much fabric even bc it was after war
The moment I saw that thumbnail.. Josephine Baker is a legend
2:38 OMG her smile is soooo cute 🥺😍
Oh ikr 😍😍😩
faux fur? isnt real fur the thing everyone is complaining about?
It's about the plastic content I believe
I think it was more of phasing out real fur. That using real fur is the controversy
Ur dumb
Face fur is worse. Because it brakes apart and creates micro fibers that get every were. While real fur is natural and will eventually decay as all organic material does.
It’s crazy to think it was weird for women to wear mens clothing in the 1930s but nowadays it’s weird for men to wear women’s clothing. In a couple decades (maybe even less) clothing will most likely become universal and androgynous
That’s true. I’d say men wearing skirts and dresses will be acceptable in a few years
I mean in the Middle Ages for example men wore robes that probably be considered "gowns" nowadays so the look may come back
You mean... The Return of The Shell Suit????????? 😲
1910's: simple and elegant
1920's: *clothes don't exist, we wear bananas*
Josephine Baker.... what was in your brain 😂
Bullet bra: *exists*
*NoW ThIs Is An AvEnGeRs LeVeL ThReAt*
Breaking the rules of fashion! We Stan
YOU'RE EVERYWHERE
Moo moo to you my poo get out
Anjali Baskar Then your everywhere lol
*angry hiss*
Oh its you again -.-
I grew up “thick” in the 90’s. I have a horrible relationship with food and my body till this day.
“we’re headed for national chaos” because of a BRA TREND i gtg
DreamImpossibleThings literally lmao
i find that the 20’s girl, her outfit was very appealing with the bananas 😂😂😂
20’s you mean ?
TikTok Tea That was the 20s.
did you just
Focux go away
Banana CHACHA
2000s dress:
Me: Oh, the dress is not bad. Everything looks fin-
**Sees the actual picture**
Also me: *_What the fu-_*
I think I saw a woman with a dress that had a *low* neckline when I was at the store once... idk it was a few years ago so yeah. That dress reminds me of it-
SHOUTOUT TO MISS JOSEPHINE BAKER!!! WE STAN A LEGEND
The 2010’s wasn’t really controversial at all. There is a lot of material for controversial fashion. Mostly this is the decade of “cultural apropiation” you could use that
Alvaro Ibacache S. Correction: leggings as pants. I remember the endless, ENDLESS, think pieces about it at the start of the decade
jessica87au that’s also a good one. Fake fur? Nah
exactly, especially with the kardashian/jenner fashion dynasty. pushup jeans, cornrows and foundation several tones darker. also another idea for a controversial trend is anything set off by models launched into the industry by their wealthy families. but both probably not very fitting since the video is about controversy caused by the need for justice. maybe it's a good thing since i can't think of any other 2010's "controversial" trends. maybe miley cyrus' 2013 vma outfit?
A G but when the origin is acknowledged it’s still not enough
Alvaro Ibacache S. Yep thanks to SJWs
1970s controversial outfit was my favorite
Me too
Mine was 20's 😏
Same. I'd wear it
Mine was the 1960s and 1910 and also 1980s
Mine were the 30s and 60s
Uhhhhh why is the “30’s” woman doing Rosie the riveter?? That was 1942
Grace Kellman it’s just the fact that women wore pants back then. no idea why they used rosie tho lol
@@puffee shoulda used bette davis or something, licking the ice cream cone
Right 😌🤣
Because Glamour's historical knowledge could probably be squeezed into a single brain cell and the historians they hire really aren't any better.
Thank you!!!!
That 1920's look escalated very quickly
I love how these channels always include a huge variety of different people with different skin tones and bodies.
*"Mini skirt was named after a car called Mini Cooper"*
Me: oh
I think the 40s and 90s controversies were the only valid ones.
no cap
LAngel2 And the 20s one. That one seemed like it’d actually be pretty controversial.
@@Jobe-13 yeah but it makes sense. Someone wearing expensive tons of fabric clothing when everyone is struggling or poor is bad but reclaiming your sexuality is good.
I mean, 2010s as well. We really ought to be past using real animal furs when a) animal endangerment is a real threat b) synthetic furs are just as good and c) real fur as a status symbol should be considered snobbish
@@DiabolicalPaperClip oh definitely but I figured the controversy was over people being mad at furs.
1:14 can we talk about how gorgeous she is
The 1930s one was more accurate to the 40s when women helped towards the war effort
Yeah, it seems like they switched up the decades a bit
Ikr! That's what I was thinking
🎵🎶Music🎶🎵 - I'm Sorry I couldn't Find All Of Them!🤷♀️😢😂
0:28 Razzmatazz by Jules Gaia
1:02 Clever Girl by Jules Gaia
3:07 Promise by Mattie Maguire
3:50 Shine On You - Gloria Tells (Didn't specify but they must of used an instrumental version)
Do you have the 60s one?
1950-1990s: wearing short dresses is a crime
1920: wearing bannana skirt is a joy
See through yoga pants were definitely more controversial in this decade and tbh I think the heroine-chic look glamorised through (but not necessarily by) Kate Moss is actually one that deserves uproar!
Josephine was such an icon and still is!
1:30 I want this 😭
The "Jo Baker" model is PERFECTION!!!!
I can't believe you got 70's punk rock RIGHT!!!! And the "punk" girl looks a bit like Debbie Harry!!! 😍
When I was in third grade I wore a training bra and my grandmother made a banana skirt for me to wear over white biker shorts 😭
Excuse me, *what-*
i was told by my friend in 2010 that you cannot wear leggins without a skirt... a few years later everybody wearing them on their own.
Imagine not being allowed to wear pants.... crazy
Ikr
I like that this shows different kind of controversies. Not every fashion criticism is about modesty.
Josephine Baker: *exists*
Cardi B who?
Ew, we don't stan cardiovascular bronchitis 🤢
Can we get one on men’s fashion trends too? I’d love to see men’s fashion through the years :D
FAUX FUR IS THE BEST YOU COULD COME UP WITH?
The bullet bras were actually kinda cute. I’d never wear it, but they looked good on her.
Goth and punk are the best. Remember, music before fashion though ;)
YEEEESSSSS
I was wondering why this only had 11k views 🤣 I thought the video was bad and no one liked it but then I realised it was uploaded today 😂
My personal favourite is The mini skirt. Although I'm not a fan of skirts, this is cute and adorable.
Omg yaaasss love these fashion history vieeos
The 1920s beat goes harddd
still love 70's fashion. So rebellious ♥️
I love everyone of them who took the courage to start a new fashion era
Pittsburgh: “were feared for national chaos”
disappointed but not surprised
2:07
“ We Are Headed For National Chaos “
Tide Challenge :
national chaos: world will become irreversible in 18 months
also national chaos: SHARP BOOB
There was much more controversial and interesting fashion in the 80s than that.
no one:
1930’s: 😤🤚👖🚫
I went to Josephine bakers House in France, she actually has a really sad backstory.
Ngl I absolutely love old fashioned clothes
