There is some indication that he caused the puppet frenzy, but evidence is conflicted; if he did, then the game never confronts him about it and gives him a hero's sacrifice death. If it's just a red herring, the game doesn't bother to resolve it and just leaves it in the air.

It reminds me of that old Disney show Liv and Maddie which also had the same actress playing twins, even they at least bothered to do that. They even added glasses to one twin to make them look even more different. To think that a decade old show like that would put more thought into differentiating their two lead characters than this is insane.

I swear that Disney ignored the prequels in hope its mistake won't be repeated just to not learn from it and in the end they do the same mistakes but worst. (Which is the like as the New Republic in the new canon doing the opposite of the Empire just to not learn from the pre-Clone Wars Republic)
That's the cost of poor writing that doesn't seek to build upon or reevaluate what came before, just tear it down in contempt to make something new. In theory, this show could have worked, as there are stories in the Pre-Disney Legends Continuity that analyzed the exact same types of themes or premises while also expanding on lore in interesting ways, like Knights Of The Old Republic (which has comics that feature Jedi killing their Padawans in response to visions of them becoming corrupted, like the conspiracy involving the Brendok Coven being killed in confrontation with the Jedi), but this comes off as lazy and tone-deaf in its approach to its messages and story structure.

The problem I have is when it's ham-fisted and not played as a cautionary tale. I almost liked Black Widow's take on similar themes. This show treats genuine selfish evil people as fine. So anything that was supposed to hit me hard did it in the wrong way. I'm a woman that has been deeply abused by multiple women, so I feel like treating women and men like different species that are completely different fundamentally is so dehumanizing to everyone. But I'm convinced since they underpaid the women actors, especially the minorities, it's very intentional to get us to hate each other instead of tell a compelling, powerful story.

I like that you compare Sol and Qui gon in detail. Another thing that makes Qui gons direction better than Sol's is that Qui gon is more calm friendly, hands off, and doesn't convince Anakin to be a Jedi. Qui gon tells him he has potential, but also tells him what he will have to sacrifice and struggle with. While Sol is portrayed as trying to get Occupational Safety and Health Administration more interested in the Jedi life and acting very amazed and fixated on her. Speaking of kids, I don't mind children in movies/games acting like kids, bcoz what we feel is annoying *is* only annoying bcoz they're a character we need to care about. We star wars fans are spoiled by the Anakins and Katas in our media, who are shockingly calm, friendly, and/or talented for a child their age. In something like Detroit: Become Human (game) where the girl is basically a damsel getting dragged around by her guardian doing nothing is likely the most real depiction of a child in any circumstance. While Kata (Jedi Survivor) is shockingly collected and friendly, and takes loss very well compared to a normal child. Or Cal (Jedi Fallen Order) is very wise for a 17/18 year old. (Sorry to talk about those games so much. Its star wars, so relevant to the conversation).
I think Sol makes enough sense: he feels extremely guilty about killing OSHA's entire family and he kinda needs her to turn out okay in order for him to feel redeemed. He also needs a sense of purpose and thinks The Force's purpose for him is to find these kids and train them. It make sense why he'd be fixated on her, he wants redemption for his mistake and a conclusion to his purpose. Dying at the end actually gives him both of those. Qui Gon is a weird character, he's presented as being very calm and rational but also rebellious and impulsive, happy to fight and defy the council in order to follow his feelings. It feels like George accidentally wrote two different characters (the authoritative stoic and the freethinking rebel) and roughly mashed them together. His fixation on Anakin really comes out of nowhere, Anakin has no influence on the story of Phantom Menace and only exists to setup the next two films: it's really jarring how he's just shoved in there and keeps distracting Qui Gon from the actual story. When he dies at the end it's because of the actual story (the Sith conspiracy and the occupation of Naboo) and Anakin just turns into an obligation that Obi Wan has to deal with. The Acolyte was stupid, but it wasn't Phantom Menace levels of stupid.

@@peacemaster8117 I just want to say two things. On the topic of Sol, he seemed fixated on Osha before the whole killing her family thing. Of the four Jedi sent to Brendok, he cared the most. There may be a reason for that difference (besides that's just how he is), but we don't know. Additionally, I do think in general it's possible to rebel and still be wise. You just have to hold tight to your beliefs, not waver, and choose your battles and your manner of fighting. Qui Gon seemed to be that type of Jedi. Personally, I'd say Quinlan Vos is more impulsive.

More so, Sol was intended to be seen as creepy in his obsession with the two girls and treated by the show's creators as the villain that gets what he deserves at the end, as if the cultists and Mae weren't being jealous and possessive and repeatedly gave the Jedi reasons to treat them as hostiles. For a show that supposedly is about there being no heroes or villains, no objective good or bad, just different perspectives, the creators of it do pick and choose who is unredeemable while failing to truly judge everyone for their collective misdeeds and failures.

Nutsa you're hilarious and I loved the baby talk to Shakespeare line. That had me laughing my A$$ off. That's exactly what the writing in this trash show is. It was written by a self righteous pdf file. I never watched past the first episode so I don't have an in depth knowledge of how bad it got but the first episode showed me all I needed to see. This is without a doubt the worst show out there. There's zero continuity with any of the characters, their morals, thoughts, and actions flip flop from scene to scene. They alone was enough to kill this show. Then they try showing us that the Jedi are bad because the witches tried to murder them, took possession of two of them, made one jedi off himself 16 years later for being mentally graped. It's just incoherent trash. I'm glad it got canceled and will never see the light of day again. We deserve better.
I have waited so long to say something frankly controversial to summarise on how far our media, especially Star Wars and the MCU, has fallen: I have read and experienced stories from predatory mobile gambling simulators (a.k.a. gacha "games") with better stories, themes and characters than these shows, especially The Acolyte. Which is saying something, as the former are comparably terrible stories against the likes of Andor and (debatably) The Clone Wars. Just thinking about that rant by the senator at the last episode makes me realise just how thinly-veiled the show's intention is. That is not a character speaking, that is a writer with an axe to grind venting their viewpoints through a flesh-puppet. Not to mention the sheer disrespect to the basic morals and rules of the franchise, let alone its own continuity (EU or otherwise).
I'm honestly convinced the only people who like this show are either the people who worked on it and are being paid to say they like it, or people who are just simply paid to say they like it

The nonsense defense of "I was going to let Osha go" when you can observe her Thanos snapping Mae is just absurd. The action she took warranted a response from Sol.
Now, I haven't seen any of the Acolyte myself (the sequel trilogy long put me off of any modern Star Wars content) but it feels like there actually is a salvageable story in here somewhere. If it were me, I would've put more emphasis on the dual-nature of the twins when they were younger. Osha, while generally more meek could have bouts of frustration while playing with her sister. Mae, while generally more bold and brash could give in and console her sister. Their witch coven, while looking spooky and evil could show kindness amongst each other and maybe even weren't going to force Osha into ascending if she didn't want to. The Jedi, while we all know are the force for good in the galaxy, could show their bad side with Sol kidnapping Osha against her wishes and refusing to assist in helping any of the witches in the fire. Finally for the secret twist, it could be revealed that Osha accidentally started the fire after being scared of ascending. All of these are just some ways I would sow those seeds of duality from the start but a lot of work would have to be done to carry it through.
This show is literally just Prequel fanfiction. What if Anakin was a black girl split in two? What if she wants to bang Polynesian Kylo Ren, a mysterious warrior no one knows where he came from? A kind master who wants to adopt a student to train them, except now its creepy. Instead of immaculate conception and a strong single mother, its lesbian space magic and lesbian commune that is very powerful and peaceful but they all mysteriously die Jonestown-style? The protagonist is seduced by the darkside because of the fear of losing their loved ones and needs more power to prevent that? Nope, she's literally seduced because she sees the hot guys ass and he plays his metaphorical guitar for her and shares he only wants to do what he wants, whats so wrong with that (he wants to kill people with his power, thats all we've seen him do). I will never claim that the prequels are masterpieces, they have flat cinematography, obvious green/blue screen, awful dialogue, and stilted acting performances. This show makes those movies look like a Villenuve movie, its astounding. I thought the writers strike was supposed to help, not guarantee that these Wattpad writers getto be in the union

It did quite bug me that they never really addressed the red flags of the witches as it would have to make sense for Osha to be so worried about the ascension and to be very hostile to seemingly any outsiders. And not explaining to the kids like a reasonable adult would that they would be forever taken and isolated into Jedi school because of absolutely stupid Jedi rules and discuss that. While Sol kinda has a point but also comes off as creepy because of likely horrid writing so that he instantly is doing rash things to take the girls away and not. Like talk to the people there actually inquire about what the ascension is. Y’know actually gather information about what is going on. Anything other than immediate escalation. I ended up hating both of them there needed to be way more insight to what the hell was going on.

Mae and Osha's diverging opinions is one of the main pillars the story needs to stay standing, and we've got NOTHING to work with in regard to that. Osha just being Team Jedi is inexplicable. Because you'd imagine she'd either A) never have heard of them because the witches are isolationists, or B) if the Jedi were ever brought up around her, they'd be labeled genocidal nutjobs by the witches, and so Osha should have absolutely no positive perspective on them. It'd be like a kid being told by their ancestors about escaping 1940s Germany, and the kid is like "hm maybe the mustache guy and his army are actually neat dudes". Osha expressing this should be SO worrying to the witches but they're just patiently bringing up this child who has somehow come to idolize their sworn enemies. Why, how? "Well we need the sisters to be like, ideologically opposed. Because that'd be fun for later."

I thought (most of) the sets looked better than anything in The Mandalorian/Ahsoka/etc. All of the forest/jungle stuff looked like a youtube fanfilm, but I thought the other sets were really good at evoking the original trilogy aesthetic. That's about it for compliments.

The Acolyte was so bad I've seen people pulling a Thanos in regards to the prequels, "Perhaps I treated you too harshly."
That's the cost of poor writing that doesn't seek to build upon or reevaluate what came before, just tear it down in contempt to make something new.
In theory, this show could have worked, as there are stories in the Pre-Disney Legends Continuity that analyzed the exact same types of themes or premises while also expanding on lore in interesting ways, like Knights Of The Old Republic (which has comics that feature Jedi killing their Padawans in response to visions of them becoming corrupted, like the conspiracy involving the Brendok Coven being killed in confrontation with the Jedi), but this comes off as lazy and tone-deaf in its approach to its messages and story structure.

I read It on an article ages Ago when this scandal came to light, so i don't remmember the details Very well. But basically he got her alone in his hotel Room and made her watch him shower.
The problem I have is when it's ham-fisted and not played as a cautionary tale. I almost liked Black Widow's take on similar themes. This show treats genuine selfish evil people as fine. So anything that was supposed to hit me hard did it in the wrong way. I'm a woman that has been deeply abused by multiple women, so I feel like treating women and men like different species that are completely different fundamentally is so dehumanizing to everyone. But I'm convinced since they underpaid the women actors, especially the minorities, it's very intentional to get us to hate each other instead of tell a compelling, powerful story.

I like that you compare Sol and Qui gon in detail.
Another thing that makes Qui gons direction better than Sol's is that Qui gon is more calm friendly, hands off, and doesn't convince Anakin to be a Jedi. Qui gon tells him he has potential, but also tells him what he will have to sacrifice and struggle with. While Sol is portrayed as trying to get Occupational Safety and Health Administration more interested in the Jedi life and acting very amazed and fixated on her.
Speaking of kids, I don't mind children in movies/games acting like kids, bcoz what we feel is annoying *is* only annoying bcoz they're a character we need to care about. We star wars fans are spoiled by the Anakins and Katas in our media, who are shockingly calm, friendly, and/or talented for a child their age. In something like Detroit: Become Human (game) where the girl is basically a damsel getting dragged around by her guardian doing nothing is likely the most real depiction of a child in any circumstance. While Kata (Jedi Survivor) is shockingly collected and friendly, and takes loss very well compared to a normal child. Or Cal (Jedi Fallen Order) is very wise for a 17/18 year old.

I think Sol makes enough sense: he feels extremely guilty about killing OSHA's entire family and he kinda needs her to turn out okay in order for him to feel redeemed. He also needs a sense of purpose and thinks The Force's purpose for him is to find these kids and train them. It make sense why he'd be fixated on her, he wants redemption for his mistake and a conclusion to his purpose. Dying at the end actually gives him both of those.
Qui Gon is a weird character, he's presented as being very calm and rational but also rebellious and impulsive, happy to fight and defy the council in order to follow his feelings. It feels like George accidentally wrote two different characters (the authoritative stoic and the freethinking rebel) and roughly mashed them together. His fixation on Anakin really comes out of nowhere, Anakin has no influence on the story of Phantom Menace and only exists to setup the next two films: it's really jarring how he's just shoved in there and keeps distracting Qui Gon from the actual story. When he dies at the end it's because of the actual story (the Sith conspiracy and the occupation of Naboo) and Anakin just turns into an obligation that Obi Wan has to deal with.
The Acolyte was stupid, but it wasn't Phantom Menace levels of stupid.

@@peacemaster8117 I just want to say two things. On the topic of Sol, he seemed fixated on Osha before the whole killing her family thing. Of the four Jedi sent to Brendok, he cared the most. There may be a reason for that difference (besides that's just how he is), but we don't know.
Additionally, I do think in general it's possible to rebel and still be wise. You just have to hold tight to your beliefs, not waver, and choose your battles and your manner of fighting. Qui Gon seemed to be that type of Jedi. Personally, I'd say Quinlan Vos is more impulsive.

For a show that supposedly is about there being no heroes or villains, no objective good or bad, just different perspectives, the creators of it do pick and choose who is unredeemable while failing to truly judge everyone for their collective misdeeds and failures.

Nutsa you're hilarious and I loved the baby talk to Shakespeare line. That had me laughing my A$$ off. That's exactly what the writing in this trash show is. It was written by a self righteous pdf file. I never watched past the first episode so I don't have an in depth knowledge of how bad it got but the first episode showed me all I needed to see. This is without a doubt the worst show out there. There's zero continuity with any of the characters, their morals, thoughts, and actions flip flop from scene to scene. They alone was enough to kill this show. Then they try showing us that the Jedi are bad because the witches tried to murder them, took possession of two of them, made one jedi off himself 16 years later for being mentally graped. It's just incoherent trash. I'm glad it got canceled and will never see the light of day again. We deserve better.

I have waited so long to say something frankly controversial to summarise on how far our media, especially Star Wars and the MCU, has fallen:
I have read and experienced stories from predatory mobile gambling simulators (a.k.a. gacha "games") with better stories, themes and characters than these shows, especially The Acolyte. Which is saying something, as the former are comparably terrible stories against the likes of Andor and (debatably) The Clone Wars.
Just thinking about that rant by the senator at the last episode makes me realise just how thinly-veiled the show's intention is. That is not a character speaking, that is a writer with an axe to grind venting their viewpoints through a flesh-puppet. Not to mention the sheer disrespect to the basic morals and rules of the franchise, let alone its own continuity (EU or otherwise).
Yeah app games like reverse 1999 and shadowverse has some good stories compared to main media today.

I’ve been waiting for a hating
Now, I haven't seen any of the Acolyte myself (the sequel trilogy long put me off of any modern Star Wars content) but it feels like there actually is a salvageable story in here somewhere.
If it were me, I would've put more emphasis on the dual-nature of the twins when they were younger. Osha, while generally more meek could have bouts of frustration while playing with her sister. Mae, while generally more bold and brash could give in and console her sister. Their witch coven, while looking spooky and evil could show kindness amongst each other and maybe even weren't going to force Osha into ascending if she didn't want to. The Jedi, while we all know are the force for good in the galaxy, could show their bad side with Sol kidnapping Osha against her wishes and refusing to assist in helping any of the witches in the fire. Finally for the secret twist, it could be revealed that Osha accidentally started the fire after being scared of ascending.
All of these are just some ways I would sow those seeds of duality from the start but a lot of work would have to be done to carry it through.
This show is literally just Prequel fanfiction. What if Anakin was a black girl split in two? What if she wants to bang Polynesian Kylo Ren, a mysterious warrior no one knows where he came from? A kind master who wants to adopt a student to train them, except now its creepy. Instead of immaculate conception and a strong single mother, its lesbian space magic and lesbian commune that is very powerful and peaceful but they all mysteriously die Jonestown-style? The protagonist is seduced by the darkside because of the fear of losing their loved ones and needs more power to prevent that? Nope, she's literally seduced because she sees the hot guys ass and he plays his metaphorical guitar for her and shares he only wants to do what he wants, whats so wrong with that (he wants to kill people with his power, thats all we've seen him do). I will never claim that the prequels are masterpieces, they have flat cinematography, obvious green/blue screen, awful dialogue, and stilted acting performances. This show makes those movies look like a Villenuve movie, its astounding. I thought the writers strike was supposed to help, not guarantee that these Wattpad writers getto be in the union

With the budget now at $240 mill that means the minute budget is sitting closer to $1 million a minute!!!

It did quite bug me that they never really addressed the red flags of the witches as it would have to make sense for Osha to be so worried about the ascension and to be very hostile to seemingly any outsiders. And not explaining to the kids like a reasonable adult would that they would be forever taken and isolated into Jedi school because of absolutely stupid Jedi rules and discuss that. While Sol kinda has a point but also comes off as creepy because of likely horrid writing so that he instantly is doing rash things to take the girls away and not. Like talk to the people there actually inquire about what the ascension is. Y’know actually gather information about what is going on. Anything other than immediate escalation. I ended up hating both of them there needed to be way more insight to what the hell was going on.

Mae and Osha's diverging opinions is one of the main pillars the story needs to stay standing, and we've got NOTHING to work with in regard to that. Osha just being Team Jedi is inexplicable. Because you'd imagine she'd either A) never have heard of them because the witches are isolationists, or B) if the Jedi were ever brought up around her, they'd be labeled genocidal nutjobs by the witches, and so Osha should have absolutely no positive perspective on them. It'd be like a kid being told by their ancestors about escaping 1940s Germany, and the kid is like "hm maybe the mustache guy and his army are actually neat dudes". Osha expressing this should be SO worrying to the witches but they're just patiently bringing up this child who has somehow come to idolize their sworn enemies.
Why, how? "Well we need the sisters to be like, ideologically opposed. Because that'd be fun for later."

I thought (most of) the sets looked better than anything in The Mandalorian/Ahsoka/etc. All of the forest/jungle stuff looked like a youtube fanfilm, but I thought the other sets were really good at evoking the original trilogy aesthetic.

The compression to Arcane is super funny as it was the first rodeo for the writers, compared the Leesly who already has a praised Netflix show under her buckle.
