I often replace chicken in soups and stews with tofu that I tear into chunks, season (onion powder, garlic powder, lemon, turmeric, salt, pepper, paprika), and bake in the oven/air fryer. They have a great texture and flavor. We call it "toficken". :)

    Chels,
    I love you!
Your soup is delicious and your hair is magnificent!
As an older woman (65years young) who had your type of hair at one time in my life, I did cut it off and it never grew back in with the same density. Knowing that, you can cut your hair shorter, perhaps layers, but I would advise against cutting it all off. I think you will miss it. It is part of who you are. It is a stunning and beautiful part of who you are. Enjoy that! Celebrate that! You are absolutely beautiful inside and out!
I am deeply grateful for you, your thoughtful, gentle advise, your beautiful family and your gorgeous hair! Thank you!!!

Cut it shoulder-length first if you are on the fence. It will still be much easier to handle, take less time to wash, and you can tie it up when you exercise or sleep.

I have learned to never ask anybody their opinion! The reason why is opinions are like noses everyone has one and they’re all different. You do whatever you would like to do with your hair. If you do not like it, it’s hair it grows back.
    Much love from the USA

You have gorgeous hair but do what makes you happy! If you want to try cutting it, go to a shoulder length first so you can still put it in a pony tail for when you exercise. Then if you like it, go shorter and see if you like it shorter. It will always grow back!

I just shaved my head last week! Its not the first time I've done it but it takes so much stress out of my routine not having to worry about my hair. Even if you don't go fully shaved, a short bob or a pixie cut is really manageable and I bet you'd look so cute with short hair!

I cut my hair twice and regretted it, it was a cry for help. It took years to grow back and short hair was very high maintenance and always got in my face, very inflexible as well as you won't be able to do a ponytail, etc. Your hair is what makes you stylish and adds a lot of beauty to your face. DO NOT CUT IT!!!!!!

Oh my this looks so delicious! I think I might try it with some tofu sautéed with poultry seasoning and chickpeas.
I admire how you can chop and cook as you go, if I try that I always leave stuff out or get the timing wrong. I’m not as time strapped as you so cutting everything up before isn’t really a problem.
Personally I like long hair, I cut mine years ago and I took forever to grow back out. With my straight hair, short was a lot more aggravation and work than being able to pull it back into a ponytail. That was my story, you do what’s right for you!

  • @JazzedatHome

Good tip re: cooking root veg first, for sure. I like to caramelize my onions, when I'm getting those going, before everything else, especially if I know the soup will need a bit of sweetness. I much prefer that to adding sugar. Yes, cooking root veg first is basic, but everyone is at different levels. And like you said, if someone didn't grow up cooking, they might not necessarily know that.

You made that faux chicken noodle soup look so real. We can't get Sunfed brand of vegan chicken meat here in the US, but we do have other alternatives. I'll be trying it this fall and winter. Your HAIR - firstly let me say, wear it long, for as long as you can, while you are young. It's beautiful and looks great on you. I was a hairdresser for a long time, and I wore my hair long as long as I could. Some older women I know still wear their hair long, even as they've aged and they've gone gray. And many of them look smashing! I dyed my hair in my 30's as I started to go gray, and it was a real shocker when I decided to let the gray grow out at the age of 60. Now I love my hair color, and I like the shorter styles because there are so many nice chic styles. Although if you wanted to experiment with a shorter style - you are young enough that you could grow it all back within 3 years or so. But I think you're quite lovely with it long.

I am 69 and I have had long hair most of my life. The few times I cut it short, it felt great but then I wanted it long again, because I didn't look like me.
It's a weird attachment thing, considering hair grows.

That soup looks amazing! It’s summer here in Atlanta GA USA and a scorcher, so I’m gonna save this recipe for fall. I love how you don’t freak out over a tiny amount of oil. I sometimes beat myself up for taking shortcuts and using some small amounts of vegan products when cooking. I found these vegan hotdogs made by field roast called stadium dogs. But they are really too high in fat and salt for us, my husband has heart disease, but I’ll split a hotdog and put it on a sandwich with mostly tofu. It is then way less fat and salt. And still flavors the tofu great. And then have lots of veggies too. And don’t cut your beautiful hair off. I’ve always had terrible hair, a big frizz which could never be all flowing like yours. So I vote no shave, and not very short either. It’s beautiful

Your curls look so good long! I’ve buzzed my hair off multiple times and like it for a few months and then miss putting my hair up . The growing it back is really annoying. Nah sayers online talk smack about plant based eaters saying their hair falls out blah blah so I think benefits your channel and the movement perhaps by keeping it long.

Hate stevia too so no team stevia for me
As for the hair you will be excited and love it then miss and be eager to grow back your hair. Everytime i dramatically cut my hair this is how it goes.
The love does not last and you ultimately go back to the long locks because it is who you are. At least that is how it goes for me, i feel feminine and sexier with hair, except of course the first few months of a new cut then that feels great…. DOES NOT LAST SO MAKE THE CHOICE WISELY
BUT IF YOU HAVE NEVER DONE THE DRAMATIC YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO IT SO YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND HAVE THE KNOW IN YOURSELF.
So go for it live it up do not regret it😍

Chelsea, I just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying your channel! I love the way that you break things down and educate people about calories and cooking. I'm flexitarian, so I do eat meat, but not all the time, and I've gotten a lot out of your videos about different plant-based recipes, as well as showing what's in your refrigerator and how you organize your kitchen. I don't always feel your flavor combinations, as you seem to love hummus with everything and I only like it with Mediterranean foods. But, you've made a number of things that have made me think, "Wow, I really need to try that", like your sushi bowl. Anyway, thanks so much for putting these videos together. Thanks for the tip about orzo! I just picked some up at Trader Joe's and I'm really curious about it. I loved the bit about it having an identity crisis and that it's like the pasta that wants to be rice :D Also, I hadn't thought to put greens in a chicken soup, but I have some frozen spinach that needs to be used up, so this seems like the perfect thing to toss it in. I do eat meat (sometimes, as a Flexitarian), so I'll be using chicken in my soup, but I appreciated your sharing about the vegan product that you use in yours and the care that company uses in making it less processed and more healthy. Blessings!

I'm currently 38, female, and I shaved my head for charity in 2015 and I freaking love it and I've had soooooo many compliments on my appearance that I never ever had when I had super long hair. Thankfully I have a very normal shaped head hahaha and having a shaved head looks fantastic on me and because I have chronic fatigue it's actually super freaking handy too hahaha. I think it's something that you should for sure consider if you are remotely curious. Hair grows back after all. It also made me feel like a brave and empowered female as well which was a cool bonus!! Since I've shaved my head I've seen/noticed several other women who have done the same and everyone I've seen looks wicked good. Hope this comment helps you! Would you ever do an interview or some videos with your hubby (if he’s comfy with it) to talk @ veganism and his MS. I have MS and would love the info/detail and encouragement ❤ thx Chels!

Do you have access to Amazon? I buy Butlers Soy Curls which are a whole food. Its a fermented soy bean that when rehydrated and cooked on the stove like you did with your faux chicken, it actually has the same texture. I like to rehydrate the soy curls, drain off the excess water, heat in microwave with some SOS free BBQ sauce and eat it with some “chick’n salt” which is not actually chicken, but spices it up great. Anyhow, those soy curls would be perfect in your soup and they are a whole food without oil.

Go for it with your hair...you don't want to be on your rocking chair at 98 thinking I wish i cut my hair off. Wonder what it would have looked like. No regrets! Thats how you make the make choices in life. Also thank you for being truthful about the the oil and also the chicken substitute....your right. a little bit of naughty and so much veggies and good stuff. It all equals out. And in the end....its helping us all stay sane and not binge on other things. Thank you Chelsea...I haven't watched for a while but this video reminder me thata I should be. Thank you Terri from Australia 🦘 🇦🇺 💜

Butler soy curls are my favorite chicken replacement. Super minimal ingredients, too. Not sure if they're available in NZ, but I love them!

I say, YESSSSSSS, cut your hair. I am shave my head bald and it's changed my life. Time is freedom and I've gained it in spades by keeping my hair and nails neat and short. Takes very little maintenance, and like I say to anyone who is curious enough to ask, I NEVER have a bad hair day and I feel like a badass! Please never worry about things being weird to other people. I am almost 50 years old and I've loved being weird my entire life! Do you, live you! I'm 100% here for your amazingly inspirational content. Punto y final.

Well. The soup is never just soup. Imagine our grandmas and their lives and our lives as kids without these soups. Grannies lived as they lived, cooked, ate what they did, could, knew. My kids are also raised on soups. What do you feed kids after they turn one? Mostly soups, right? And you throw inside all important stuff, minced, cut, mashed, you name it. We, again, as vegans, eat what we eat. But still, the comfort food is always the soup. So if you made vegan 'chicken soup', I'm all for it, thank you 😃 Soup is the queen. Yours is great and is about to get cooked, thanks for the recipe, Chelsea🥕🥦🥬

Yes to shaving your hair off. I had short hair in the 80s then long in the 90s then pixie platinum blonde short in the early 2000s then long from 2003-2016, then short then in 2018 practically shaved off. Then back to pixie platinum blonde short again and now growing out my natural gray after growing out the length as a bottle blonde and having about seven inches cut off.
It’s so liberating to have no hair because you safe time in the shower and save money on shampoo and conditioner, you save time drying and styling your hair. You don’t have to think about having messy hair. And it’s a fun thing to do once in your life. Why not?!?!? 🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘

Your hair is magnificent Chelsea so please don't cut it off. My daughter shaved her head when she was in so much pain through a chronic illness - yes even her hair hurt. She grew it back but it's never been the same, it's much thinner and flyaway. Ultimately it's your hair and your choice isn't it? so do what feels good.
    Love your recipes 😘X
