OMG! THIS BAND IS INCREDIBLE!!! THERE IS IMMENSE TALENT HERE! The drummer and the frontman switch out! They are both great, but the one on the drums in this video is the true Superstar; an amazing frontman and amazing drummer. On drums, he is the reincarnation of Kieth Moon and then some. Kieth Moon 2.0! As a frontman he is Bowie, Prince, Jim Dandy, Pete Townsend, McCartney, and Iggy Pop all rolled up onto one. Fucking Incredible! And the composition! Avant garde meets progressive fusion...and more. I haven't been this impressed in a long long time! WOW!
They're amazing, and only 8 and 11. Incredible. He sings in a very authentic English accent which makes a change from our lot singing pure American (beloved Glass Animals - I'm listening to YOU!). I'm usually a sucker for young lads making a fashion statement, but I just can't believe this is a good look. I'm old enough to remember the Bay City Rollers. Utterly love this song. It is beyond surreal.
I really enjoyed their album. It is too bad I can't find the song "Franck" on youtube. I would had dedicated it to Andee. (I read your words. And I don't hate you, still...)
I think they're incredibly talented songwriters but as artists they're doing themselves a disservice by playing to the pastiche/nostalgia market. Their melodies and compositions are insanely beautiful and complex but by revisiting an outdated aesthetic they risk being a novelty act rather than using the compositional brilliance they have and setting out what the future looks like. They have the talent to be the future but resting on the laurels of the past. Boys - if you or your dad ever read this - BE the future. Take your listeners by the balls and make rock and roll what it needs to be for today. We want the adventure.
Well actually I think these guys are better songwriters certainly than Tame Impala. In my opinion Tame Impala are good but they rely too much on production and Kevin sounding a bit like John Lennon. MGMT did one very good album which did take it to the next level but I think they lost sight of writing good songs that observed modern life (with the exception of "your life is a lie"). I think Animal Collective have been the best so far at bringing psychedelia to a new place where it comments on modern life rather than hearkening back to an outdated aesthetic.
even Congratulations (amazing as it is imo) was an updated pastiche of bands like Deep Freeze Mice, Syd Barrett era Floyd, and Television Personalities. I think you're right about these guys. Despite how much i love Do Hollywood, it seems almost too familiar in a lot of ways.
Holy Fu@k I am official obsessed with this band !
I think you are in a decently-sized club. Where do we hold our obsession meetings?

Fuck off. Look at Tame Impala and MGMT. Psychedelic rock isn't a pastiche market. Let them play what they like and love.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you're not going to get a decent discussion with someone who started their post with 'fuck off'. I agree with you.
word!
