Fun Fact: If you refuse to choose a code name, Desdemona will give you the code name of Wanderer.
That’s cool
She calls you that because you roam around, around, around, around, around
That sounds way cooler than Bullseye.
@@tylercoon1791 you also have flo on your left arm and then theres mary on the right, but janie is the girl that youll be taking home tonight
It sounds significantly less cringey than any of the options.
After hearing Zach do the Heavy impression, all i could think is how fun it would be to see Mike and Zach play a round of Team Fortress 2.
"ALL OF FALLOUT 4 FACTION LEADERS ARE PRETTY SHIT"
While you're the leader of the minutemen.
Leader in name only.
There's a settlement that needs saving.
*ALL OF THE FALLOUT 4 FACTION LEADERS ARE SHIT... ESPECIALLY THE MINUTEMEN'S*
I mean, hey, I'm a pretty shit character. Plus a horrible general.

9:06 There's seeing the town, and "Seeing the town." And they aren't talking about strolling around bunker hill together and taking in the sights.
in case zack dosnt know all the halo guns have there own workbench that allows for ammo crafting as well as making the guns you would be hard pressed to find in the commonweath
curie has been hanging around Darlene way too much
They’re even wearing the same outfit!
I'm sure they have a lot to say to each other.
I'm Curie. I'm Curie! I'm-m-m-m-m-m Curie.
I am deeply shocked Zach didn't start hitting on Pam on sight
PAM doesn’t sell guns and have sass.

Ah yes the Misriah Armoury FO4 mod variant of the M319 Grenade Launcher, was quite fun in Reach just, simply because if you held the fire button you can straight up turn every grenade you shot into a small EMP bomb. Sadly not a thing in the mod version though but the modifications work well enough and is a good alternative to using frag grenades or whatever other explosives, mostly because of the weight of such bloomin' things.
Also looks like Zach might need to make the Misriah Armoury Ammunitions bench thing, I forgot the actual name of it, sorry. But yeah will need to make that for a couple of the weapons of the mod because they use ammo that doesn't come from other mods. Luckily I think it's just the grenade launcher and some kind of weird, SMG thing.
The grenade launcher is kinda broken, modify it with the light roudns ( light as in illumination) its a fucking led cob light slug that can be picked up again like the strykers bowling ball ammo
so Zach's codename is Bullseye... mike's character just needs to get blind and he can be Daredevil.
Mike is already wearing red so he just needs mask.
If zack keeps shooting him eventually they will probably hit him in the eyes
Have you seen his aim? He might as well be XD
Damn. I wouldn’t want to be that character, he’s a piece of shit! 😳
meh just throw chems in you EYES.
Ah yes, old man Stockton. You know, the father of that girl you let the psycho synth hunter cult kill in like episode 10
"Specialist" probably also works, but it might give Zach cabinet-related PTSD.
9:13 Oh, Mike, you innocent soul.
How a man into bdsm this clueless.
Always a treat to have a vid from you guys first thing in the morning!
I just now realized that Old Man Stockton has the same voice actor as Harkon from Dawnguard. It's amazing how a little change in tone and inflection can make one character sound almost completely different from another.
EDIT: I now know that they are not really voiced by the same person after all, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one who could've been tripped up like that.
I thought the same thing so I looked it up. Not the same person surprisingly
@@rileykemmer9470 Really? But they sound so similar
@@konahrikb1578 I thought the same with Starscream in those cybertron transformer games. I assumed Yuri Lowenthal voiced him when in actuality it was Sam Riegel, so that’s pretty cool.

Yeah sadly I hated Fallout 4 for quite a while before I got into mods that messed whith the story
That's gotta be rough on Zack having a new gun he couldn't even use
It's what he gets for saying that movie sucks
Just needs to make the halo work benches. Then he can make the 40mm grenades for it
4:30am this morning I was up drinkin coffee with the intent to sleep an hour later. First time this has ever happened to me, first time I've watched one of these uploads so early, and first thing Zach talks about is drinking coffee at 4. Crazy.
I never understood why they gave synths new memories. Isnt that the opposite of helping them
Youre essentially killing what they were.
It's harder for the Institute to find someone who truly believes they have been human their whole lives rather than someone who know they are a runaway synth.
Yes, it means giving up being the person you were.
The fact that the majority of synths choose to go through with getting new memories anyway gives an indication of how soul crushing it is to be a slave of the Institute, even if you aren't physically abused much or even at all.
Being seen as tools and property rather than people is very mentally draining.
i couldn't agree more. tell them you will give them new memories then just shoot them in the head then the institute will never find them
@@suntiger745 but they're still being treated as machines by the railroad.
And yeah being slaves sucks, but nothing will change unless you try and change the institute. They have nigh infinite synths. They'll just make more. The only reason they go after the synths is they don't want to be found out.
The only reason they send coursers after the synths is because they hide and don't know what they are leading to an easier capture.
I mean what is some random civilian gonna do when they realize they don't age, don't need to sleep or eat? They're gonna look for answers and that'll lead them right back into the arms of the institute. It's better to keep the memories of why you wanted to runaway. No matter how painful they are
Memories make you you. Getting rid of them is essentially putting a bullet in your head
@@suntiger745 It may be harder but they are erasing the synth that wanted to be saved in the first place and reprogramming a whole new mind in them.
This is actually a point of contention in the far harbor dlc and why Acadia doesn’t particularly like the railroad. They get that the railroad is trying to help, but if they wipe away a synths identity and memories then it was a waste to even free them as they aren’t that synth that wanted freedom anymore.
Hey Mike, I kind of know the mod author for the Service Rifle Expansion Project, Nadie and I believe the M203 attachment in terms of script and animations was worked on by Code but she worked hard on it and a lot of the parts she added was stuff she liked I think, it has been a while since I talked to her about it
12:10 and that's why most projectile fired grenades have an arming distance.
I'm surprised you guys didn't have a flashback and light up High Rise, he's got the same VA as Malcolm Holmes.
I think there is a mod called "Ghoulification" or something like that. If your rads stay too high for too long, you start to change. I think it works on NPCs too. I'll check.
In fairness there's a good reason to not go back to the switchboard, it's compromised. Even after clearing it out, the enemy know it's location, layout and defensive measures.
you two playing fallout 4 was the best thing to happen during the stress of getting ready for college. Thanks for posting great videos
Old Man Stockton is voiced by the same individual who voiced Harkon in Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC.
It is nice to see a fallout 4 video. I wonder if Zach knows about that the game Wanted Raccoon. I'm sure he would like it. Off question out of all th left fallout mods from both Fallout 4 and New Vegas what was the model you both enjoyed the most?
Zach that was a very good heavy voice 6:54
Heavy is regretting costume choice...
2:24 Rimjob shot himself in the head using Pancor Jackhammer after retiring from boxing
Honestly I only stick around with the railroad long enough to get the ballistic weave and then I dip out.
Idk why but this quest made me love the railroad. Idc about their ideals I like just running around the commonwealth at night pretending to be a secret agent, way better than the other options😂😂
"I eat danger for breakfast It tastes like chickeeeeen" I love the way he said that 😭
I'm not gonna ask again, but if Zach's love for the AS VAL is still strong, the 9x39 Project exists, both having VSS Vintorez and the AS VAL.
8:24 Excellent callback XD
Stockton is the only member of the Railroad who has any respect for opsec. But his daughter is a cylon so it doesn't matter.
They have to know "see the town" is a euphemism here, right?
While there isn't a way to "goulify" your settlers, I did wall them into that pit at the drive in and make them all repeatedly fall on the ground. Kinda like killing sims with the swimming pool but all at once and no ladder needed lol.
R-404 totally needs your attention.
I hope you help her out later. She's from Tales from The Commonwealth.
Edit
If you make it through her Companion's Quest, the Vault at the end needs it's Precombines redone though.
There is a series of patches available for ToTC. To be honest, the only custom cell i had issues with, was her's.
You could easily just do it in the CK yourself.
How do you /not/ get critical hits with a grenade launcher?
zach that grenade launcher is from reach and its probably the most complex halo weapon, like tf2 weapon levels of stuff you can do with it
idk how it works there but in reach you can hold down the fire button after you shoot a grenade to link it and then release it after to detonate it, releasing an emp shockwave
however you can also do this very quickly to detonate it far faster than if you just dumb fired it
it can also be shot out and used as a trap using that
while held it can even be immune to pre detonation from other grenades or shots so you can sling it even farther with an explosive
lastly it deals impact damage so you can sling it high in the air and let it knock something out
edit:the grenades probably need to be special because its a caseless deal i think, or at least it shoots sparks like hell after you fire it
Someone's probably already said this but in order to craft the ammo for the Halo grenade launcher you'll need to craft the Misriah ammunition workbench at a settlement. There you can craft any of the unique ammo for the Halo weapons.
I know the tour of the town bit happens in a few places I wonder when Zach will catch on that Hancock really gets around
The Railroad just makes no sense. They want to liberate synths, but they completely wipe these people's memories - erasing who they are. They're not freeing synths so much as releasing people with no life experience into a world full of dangers, not to mention the fact that such naive people will easily be taken advantage of and likely enslaved by other predators. But they got the synth out of the Institute and that's all that matters, right?
In fairness to the Railroad, they give Synths the *_choice_* to get a memory wipe. Now we don't know how hard they push for the wipe* versus going without, but them giving Synths actual agency at all when no one else will is commendable.
That said, memory wipe is as you said, effectively the killing of the individual that wanted freedom to begin with. Far Harbor addresses this with DiMa, who acknowledges the drawbacks of the memory wipe and why Arcadia doesn't necessarily align with the Railroad.
*Considering the Railroad's proclivity for compartmentalization and secrecy, they probably heavily push for a wipe when taking in Synths unfortunately :(
Not to mention that the freed synths are a potential threat to real humans. Remember, they don't need to eat, they don't sleep, they don't get sick or age and they are faster and stronger than humans. Now imagine a raider like that.
FO4 is not the right sort of setting for a concept like that, not when humans are barely surviving in the wasteland and there are already a lot of horrible creatures out there.
@@BlackSabbath628 Are you sure they don't need to eat? They have an exact copy of human biology and would need fuel some how. That fuel isn't eletricity or gas, etc. So I imagine they do have to eat food.
@@john_doe406 They do not. IIRC, there's a terminal and some dialogue that states that they don't technically need food or get hungry, but they will still eat as part of their deception routine. They seem to have a particular taste for pre-war junk food too.
Apparently they don't get fat either and they had to design MacDougal to be overweight.
The point is that synths have a lot of unique characteristics that humans don't have, such as being immune to radiation.
The whole synth plotline is just an inferior rehash of the Master's Super Mutants, really.
@@BlackSabbath628 Synths are fragile enough to die by hanging. In addition to the what the other dude said about eating, Synth's effectively _do_ sleep, with Institute scientist finding that that they experience something akin to REM sleep.
Outside of *natural* longevity, they're no more hardy than a common wastelander. A single bullet is gonna put them down same as anyone else.
Sure you have Coursers, but it's not like Fallout itself treats trained warriors like Brotherhood of Steel or NCR soldiers as a different species.
Zach, not gonna lie, that laugh at the end sounded an awful lot like Fenneko.
This is good.👍
Dunno if y'all read comments but I gotta say something: I was trying to join the Marines years ago and got rejected but y'all's stories and humor were a big reason I kept trying. 2 weeks ago I graduated from recruit training! I wouldn't have kept pushing without y'all.
Bad idea there, chief.
My man really joined the second worse branch
What job?
maybe you missed the point in those stories
I mean, half of those stories are about why the service sucks, more importantly it may've been beneficial to base signing over several years of your life based on more than maybe a couple hours of conversation. Still a lot of pro's to it as well. 'Hope it's a good experience for you overall though, good luck , friend!
Old man Stockton is voiced by the name guy that voices harkon in Skyrim
Why do I remember the sights for an m203 on an m16 like that used to be on the side of the top of the barrel shroud fore grip
4:43 nice Atlanta is still a place I see
404 seems to be played by that one actress who played that one character in the Blue Note interesting NPCs quest in New Vegas. If I’m wrong that’s fine. I just wanted to point that out.
Maybe i missed an entire episode, but how did they get curie as a synth without meeting the railroad first?
Fun fact, if you're high enough level to activate automaton you can just about see ada getting attacked from the church
Definitely did clear the minefield just not th way your supposed to
3:11 yeah, go back to the safehouse that’s supposed to be secret, y’know, the one the institute found and raided
What is that m16 mod I need it looks awesome
17:15 Car! Car! Timeout!
9:12 pretty sure they're talking about a booty call, guys.
what is the mod to increase the base damage?
It took me years to actually get around to doing a Railroad playthrough and I'm glad I did. It was worth delaying, because they made my head hurt from how stupid they are. Their idea of "keeping a secret" is by yelling nice and loud so everyone in ear-shot can hear. It's like they learned they espionage techniques from watching one comedy spy movie, over and over.
Grenade launcher aquired
Glory actually wanted her codename to be longer but Desdemona thought it was inappropriate.
3:59
Ssssoooooo, you guys going back to Vault 4 any time soon?
Its always gonna bug me that if you do these quests with a follower the dialogue never accounts for it. Player, decon, follower is 3 people but Dez only can say “the two of you”.
I really can’t wait till he sees the slug mod for the grenade launcher that thing is funny because I’ve one-shot people in power armour with it
Wait is High Rise's voice actor Boxcar's voice actor?
You two should try some of the handmade weapons mods like the Select Series or the Tomacuzi-9
Go ahead and lookup his gun rants. He reacted to the pipe gun plus some modded weapons
@@okieg8960 I know he reacted to the pipe guns. I just want to see his reaction to the other guns mods like the two I mentioned
I was expecting zach to make his code name captain flaps for he is the one who transports.
7:30 It wasn't so he could make some "aTIRE" pun?
I feel like Bethesda wanted players to side with the railroad with how much side content it has compared to other factions even post ending
I can’t wait for you two to play team fortress 2 it will be the funny thing ever
Now I want Zach and Mike to play tf2 lmao
Yeah its kinda weird how base game Fallout 4 doesn't have a grenade launcher. Its not like its that hard to program in, or even that hard to model.
attack of the killer meatballs 7:20
There is a legendary camas in Quincy it shots rifle grenades
Don't worry about Curie trying a cigarette. If her experience is somewhat close to mine, she's gonna feel very dizzy and puke her guts out.
Speaking about guts... I think I discovered the fetish of whoever created the Darlene mod.
Yes you can kill someone with the M203's 40mm at point blank. It still hits hard enough to brake your ribs and crush you chest even with out it's blowing up. Also why no flechettes rounds?
I honestly wanted to luke both the Railroad and the Minutemen. From a broad conceptual standpoint they're both really cool. The writers had other plans, however, and I definitely get why a bunch of people genocide the RR at the first opportunity and leave Preston in Concord.
I wish there was a bamboo butt option
Its weird seeing starlight drive in like that. I always end up spending like 200 hours turning it into a metropolis.
New Vegas: A megalomaniacal CEO, a mysoginistic dictator, a glory-obsessed warmonger and a psychopathic amnesiac.
Fallout 4: A totally-not-a-slaver-because-we-manufactured-these-people old man, a xenophobic general, a naïve woman with no plan for the future. and a walking PTSD case.
There are no good leaders all around...
I think their argument was more that the first set at least *tried* to argue the benefits of their positions and personal philosophies with attempted charisma and either manipulation or honest logic. The second set never really makes any sort of genuinely convincing case and most of the organizations are too hypocritical or inconsistent to ever feel like you made the best of bad choices. Worse the actual state of synths is never made clear to us as players, because we're just told a mish-mash of contradictory bs about them through dialogue and terminals, which makes our ending choices even less satisfying because they're not concrete.
Like I choose House for FNV usually, as I think his pros outweigh his cons, but its true that I can't say he's perfect. (Although I think I find him more likeable than some people) But I can feel content in that decision of the many bad ones because I feel informed enough about all the factions, through interacting with them and their leaders, to make an imperfect but satisfying decision. Fallout 4 doesn't really have that, imo. I always felt too uninformed about the actual state of synths, about what the factions are actually doing, or about how the leaders would realistically act for big conflicting issues outside of the synth problem to ever be truly satisfied with any conclusion or decision I made. It was gray from guesswork rather than philosophical reflection.
@@ryanjones_rheios *_"The actual state of synths is never made clear to us as players, because we're just told a mish-mash of contradictory bs about them through dialogue and terminals,_*
In fairness to Fallout 4, I think that's the point. If the Synths were definitively one thing or the other, then that'd put a lot of unnecessary objectivity on the endings.
The one thing Caesar's Legion fanboys/Safe Roads Enthusiasts and I agree on is that the Legion, as portrayed in the finished product, is just objectively terrible through and through and the game doesn't present any good reasons to support them.
@@username1660
I guess my disagreement is that the objectivity is necessary to make the ending meaningful (or at least for that endings to differentiate from eachother more, but that's also a separate issue on how they set up their post-end play). As it stands they made things "grey" by making everything a guess that you never really see the consequences of in much detail, and at that point? Flip a coin. It means about as much.
It doesn't present any good reason to support them from a modern perspective. Traumatized and sympathetic wastelander (and not the tribes or resistances they were conquering) probably saw them as heroes because the bar for that is so low in Fallout's world. When Rping that does count, even though they're obviously reprehensible. All you really need is a backstory for your courier where they've seen enough chaos to convince them that the Legion's brand of oppression is the answer. Or, y'know, you're playing as a character warped enough to support them without the justification. And given that those people exist *now* even in modern society, I loathe to think how common they might be on the frontiers of a post-post-apocalyptic world.
@@ryanjones_rheios *_"I guess my disagreement is that the objectivity is necessary to make the ending meaningful. . . As it stands they made things "grey" by making everything a guess that you never really see the consequences of in much detail, and at that point? Flip a coin"_*
Personally I do think that Fallout 4 _does_ inadvertently pick a side if one actually looks at the the context when they're being presented with the alleged contradictory information.
>Who thinks Synths are simply killers, waiting for an opportunity to replace you? Why, the average Wastelander whose only interaction with Synths is either word of mouth, paranoia, or actually seeing such activity happen.
>Who thinks Synths are simply machines made for a specific purpose? Why, the the majority of Institute, which doesn't directly work with/on Synths has a vested interest in keeping Synths subjugated and squashing down any aspirations of independence.
>And most importantly, who believes that Synths are fully sapient individuals? The Railroad, Synths themselves, and a leader in the Institute's Robotics division. That is to say, the people with the most intimate knowledge of Synths are the ones that think they're people.
But even that line of thinking can just be a coincidence, and the game does intend to be intentionally vague, with no definitive answer. Even then I'd argue that the story surrounding the Synths can work depending on the purpose of that story. Perhaps the 'point' as it were, was not to answer the question of sapience regarding Synths, but to simply posit that question to the player for them to think on. Do you believe that AI can be indistinguishable from humans? Do you believe that an unnatural creation entails an unnatural being. Do you believe that a machine can only ever be that?
Sometimes the fun isn't in the answer to these questions but how we think about them.
Take Obsidian Entertainment's most recent game, Pentiment. In it, you're tasked with solving a series of murders and can condemn suspects for them. The game never tells you if you were correct or not in your accusations, every suspect in every investigation has a legitimate case against them but there can only be one killer. You have to make a decision regardless of what you do, but you can only rely on what you know and feel.
There's enough information regarding Synths Fallout 4 that you can use what evidence you want to justify joining any one faction that cares about them. Do you take the word of wastelanders that don't know what they are outside of what they're know from scary stories and join the Brotherhood of Steel? Do you believe that a machine can never exceed its programming and back the Institute? Do you believe that if you cannot see the distinction between Man and Machine then that distinction is meaningless and support the Railroad?
I really don't wanna get into the whole Caesar's Legion thing, I just don't have the energy for it anymore after having to hear about it from its more rabid stans for the last decade, so I'll say my piece on them here and leave it at that:
In its final state, Fallout New Vegas literally points out that Caesar's Legion is an unstable cult of personality and the only thing holding it together is its leader with terminal brain cancer.
Even if we we're not using our widdle baby modern day morals the game itself tells you backing the Legion is a ultimately an exercise in futility.
*_"All you really need is a backstory for your courier where they've seen enough chaos to convince them that the Legion's brand of oppression is the answer. Or, y'know, you're playing as a character warped enough to support them without the justification. And given that those people exist now even in modern society, I loathe to think how common they might be on the frontiers of a post-post-apocalyptic world"_*
And both of those characters would have to ignore the *objective* and glaring flaws of the Legion in order to justify their choices. You could argue that someone believing in an organization _like_ the Legion makes sense, but the Legion itself is not going to last.
As for the the people in real life (what happened to not using our own standards to judge anyway?) banging on about how great draconian slave states are, they're usually laughed at or otherwise shunned for their frankly childish views.

Yknow...
Hearing P.A.M say the word "AM" after seeing I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
Makes me think the brotherhood kinda have a good idea.

Curie is French of course she smokes cigarettes.
Fallout 4: We have four insufferable factions, and the two factions people would most likely want to join, the Gunners and the crazy raiders at the ironworks, can't be joined.
You can at least set up crazy stories where the Institute is in de facto control of the minutemen, used the brotherhood of steel to wipe out the railroad, then used the minutemen to wipe out the brotherhood of steel.
It makes me kinda sad that P.A.M. is voiced by the same actress that voiced Lydia.
