Su vocals are like an audible hug. She is in a different class.
One of the few bands that give you chills and goosebumps on a regular basis. Love the way Su sings this añd that last " we will" absolutely love it 😀 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Yes the guitars on these new songs are great.👊🏽⚡️ I’m so ready to hear live versions with the guitars up in the mix. I saw Su explaining Babymetal’s songwriting process to an interviewer. She said that She and whomever the composer is will collaborate with the basic music and Su singing various melody lines. They refine the parts and get the song structure. Then last come the lyrics.
So far these songs have shown Su's best vocal performance for a studio album to date, her voice has really matured.
The recording and engineering is also much better on the new album so everything sounds clearer, and they haven’t screwed with Su’s voice with too many effects.
Nice reaction. This is a great song with a lot of meaning behind it. I think that's why they released it as a lyric video. They want us to know what this one is about. As far as how much Su writes her own lyrics. I doubt will ever know the exact amount. She has credit on one song so far. For writing lyrics but other wrote it with her. In the past she has said that she kind of sings a melody line over the music and the words are written to that. For BMC they gave her the words and she seem to have totally came up with the flow of the melody for that song. And that melody thing has worked for them for some time. As Su said having her sing a melody line over the music was the usual way, they wrote songs. Feels like she has more to do with the formation of the song than individual parts of it. Except the melody. Probably gets tweak a lot along the way. Especially when they were younger. But having her sing a melody line for the song is a great way to make sure she can sing the song later. That's my take on all of that. Yui and Moa have writing lyric credits for the song 4 No Uta. Which they wrote on the tour bus as an assignment from Su. She gave them several topics to write a song about. This 4 No Uta seems to be the one they like the most. As they sang it so much until they finally put it to music. Great fun song if have heard it yet. But that was their classic era. This song is the mature Kawaii metal era. Can't wait to see the clips of them performing this weekend. This is the way.
You said you love Polyphia: do you know they collaborated with Babymetal in the song "Brand New Day"? Polyphia did the guitar arrangments and played the guitars in the studio version of the song :)
About SU and lyrics, she is credit only for the song Divine Attack, while Moa and YUi are only credited for the song "Song 4/4 no uta)
Great reaction, thanks!
This is an extremely beautiful and emotional song. And they went way deeper lyrically on this one. The song is built like a huge allegory with several layers of significance. And this time the visuals are very descriptive. They also make sure everyone understand the lyrics releasing a lyric video for the first time and with English subtitles.
I consider myself an addict to Su-metal's singing voice and she's killing me on all the new songs. She sounds just perfect and this is not even live! Speaking of which, they are performing tomorrow Saturday (already today in Japan) for the first time in 21 months. I'm so exited about that and I'm not even attending!
Until next time!
Another vote for Brand New Day. Also definitely check out Metal Kingdom. Su's vocals in Monochrome are great but I think Metal Kingdom takes it to a whole new level.
I second the suggestion about checking out "Brand New Day", BABYMETAL's collaboration with Polyphia. To me it's one of the surprise marbles of the Metal Galaxy album.
All three of the new songs seem very Su-centred to me. I'm not sure if there's an actual reason to it, or if it's just because she sounds so noticeably good. She has certainly taken her vocals up another notch.
Thanks for the review. It's not know completely how much input Su has, but apparently, she has credit on the new album, can''t recall which song or where I read this, so take this with a grain of salt.
She wrote the lyrics for Divine Attack. Her first writing credit. She has caught up with Moa and Yui! 🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction. I love this song and Su-metal's vocals ... now listen to the new single they dropped last week - 'Metal Kingdom' (audio only). That one will be the opening track on the album.
BABYMETAL never put out a lyric video before, I'm thinking they really want us to know what they are singing so we can decide what the song means (as ever it is open to interpretation of course and we will all have our own thoughts, which is not a bad thing) ... and the visuals on lyric videos are never like they are on the official video, they mean something too.
From my starting point of almost complete ignorance I have been learning so much from comments under other reactions about Ragnarok and the Norse mythology being referenced and the general consensus is there are also many references to the bombing of Hiroshima (Su-metal's home town) and Nagasaki, even if it is not specifically about those tragic events.
The general consensus is there are also many references to the bombing of Hiroshima (Su-metal's home town) and Nagasaki, even if it is not specifically about those tragic events.
The "monochrome firework" could be the bomb, the umbrellas and smoking water may reference the black acid rain that fell in the fallout and the tree they used in the visuals throughout and that was finally shown in colour at the end could be the Hiroshima Peace Tree that survived the bombing as well as the tree of life from Norse mythology.
As ever BABYMETAL do leave us with a feeling of hope and optimism and the message that no matter how long the night, the morning will still come. Colour will return to the world.
Tomorrow First timi BABYMETALS Live in this year 30.000×2days Sold out 🤘🦊 (Red Hot Chili peppers next month 50.000+? Sold out)
by far my favorite so far, not only does she have a such a good voice and somewhat soothing, but the guitars and drums in this number, im addicted to it, the whole the way they put this together, its the first thing i think of in the morning, and the air guitar is 100% coming out :D
Great reaction thank you, but I honestly have no idea what it is about this song, but I am an emotional wreck every time I hear this. Su's vocals are just beautiful. I think its the undertones of the song I guess, maybe related to the atomic bomb (or not, depending on who you listen to). Still, possibly one of the best BabyMetal tracks released so far.
🤘🦊🤘
Monochrome live was really good btw!!, when they release it you'll be even more schoked
Shocked*
Another great reaction to baby metal! Thank you for reacting to them again!

Su-metal's first writing credit is on this album coming out. Divine Attack - Shinguki. Up til now the only song any of the girls wrote was Song 4 (4 no Uta) by the backup dancers, it took 13 years for Su to finally write her own, something she had always dreamed of doing. Other than that, its completely unknown how much creative input she has actually had. Going purely by credits and how BABYMETAL in general is handled, id say its been very little. Her songwriters, however, have done a fantastic job showcasing her all along at any rate. But being specifically a Suzuka Nakamoto fan, this was one of the best pieces of news that came out of the PR leading up to this album release.
Im glad you like her specifically so much as well. She is easily one of my top three favorite vocalists, and the top female.
Edit to add: The studio recordings for some reason over the years are always inferior to the live performances. They use way too many effects and processing I think, a lot of overdubbing as well. Hearing more truly clean vocals in the new singles has been a great thing. Some of the bootleg videos captured at their first concert in 2 years (last weekend) sound unbelievable. There is zero, or near zero, processing or effects that I could hear. Completely clean, and its mindblowing how good she has become. You mention how much she has grown, wait til you hear the live versions of these songs. She is 25 years old and has hit a peak that I never expected. I also heard you mention her natural vibrato in another video, youll hear some of that to a rather extensive level in the live version of Metal Kingdom. Its so good. So. So good. Its like she just now fully has come alive. (something ive said on every new album, haha, but i really mean it this time)
Please react more babymetal live performance 🦊🎸
