Hi, your drum packs are in midi? I use superior drummer so im looking for editing the grooves and using with others i already have. Is that possible with your product (Travis)? Thank you
Just recently joined a punk act and am building out a live rig and dialing in tones. I’ve found all kinds of videos on most recommended techniques and riffs, but have not come across anyone who talks in depth about wrist motion, picking techniques, or even guitar set up, smart amp and pedal settings and board placement, etc., the things that make for successful punk guitar performances in a live environment. While I know most of this could be considered subjective, I am certain that there are best practices that I would enjoy hearing you speak to…
I'm actually discovering new bands from your videos! I would love to see you making a new video-series recommending us your favorite bands, underrated ones, all time favorite bands/albums/songs etc etc
@@SugarpillProd Guitars in general are interesting, I love the Donners you seem to consistently play. Are they as good as people hype them up or do they take some work?
does anyone know anything similar to that horror punk riff? that sound is AMAZING and i would love to hear more of it. (currently listening to a horror punk playlist on spotify but it's not really the same vibe.)
Try checking out the band Wolf & Chain, and their EP Amor Mortal. I feel like certain Alkaline Trio tracks could apply too, like The Poison or This Could Be Love. Even early records by MCR & The Used have that sort of sound, even if you may not class them as the typical horror punk sound. Hope that helps!
@SugarpillProd thanks man. Your recordings are always so spot on for the shit I want to do. Motion City Soundtrack/Manchester Orchestra/Eden mix is how I describe my tunes lol. If you could ever do a video on any of those bands I'd love to see it! If not I know you're busy as hell bro lol
@Adam-hc4ec Thanks Adam! I have put together a new video about using synths with guitars that will come out soon, so that'll probably help with getting MCS-esque sound. I'll certainly look into some things like Manchester in the future too!
@@SugarpillProd Awesome man, thank you. I appreciate your replies. Keep rocking and thanks for all your tutorials. Oh and do you use reaper for mixing for a certain reason? Lol word play. I've just never used reason or reaper. Studio one, mix craft, and Ableton. Looking for better workflow though
No problem! Basically, I grew up using Reason, so I feel more comfortable with it for all my recording and production needs (sound design, editing, MIDI writing, etc.). It also has a lot of built-in synths that I enjoy using - though you can actually now use Reason as a plugin within other DAWs, allowing you to access all their stock plugins that way. The main reason I use Reaper for mixing is that it’s far more lightweight and a lot less CPU-intensive than Reason. Typically, I use far more plugins during the mixing stage than I do during the recording and arranging stages, so I was looking for something that handled it better than Reason currently was. I could honestly switch to Reaper for everything, but it’s hard to break old habits and workflows once you become comfortable with them, haha. I'd suggest trying a bunch out and seeing what clicks with you. Personally, I like the workflow of Reason a lot, how things are separated into the sequencer, rack, and mixer. I think that helped separate things in my mind when I started out, so it felt less overwhelming. Most DAWs offer trials, though, and even Reaper is technically free, as the trial never runs out. It’s just about finding a workflow that suits your needs the best.
For me punk is: The Sex Pistols, The Clash and the Damned… Skater punk - oh how I laughed seeing badly dressed Americans in inappropriate shorts. They’ve probably never seen a wave….

@@augustofsouza Hi, yes they're all in MIDI. The Travis Barker pack contains both MIDI & WAV files for full flexibility 👍
As a seasoned punk rocker, this is spot on. Good stuff, buddy.
Thanks man, much appreciated!
I'm self taught and do most of the things you talk about in your videos and always thought I was just playing guitar wrong, cause I'm not a wizard! 😂

When I heard Johnny foreigner mentioned within 30 seconds I got so happy.

That's really nice to hear! I might consider something like that for a future video.

Love the sound of those arpeggios on the end of the Bloc Party-style riff 👌 Same with the last riff, think I just love dissonance 😂
Thanks! Dissonance is definitely a favourite of mine too!
This is an amazing vid! Having fun and getting in information, thank you so much!
Thanks a lot, I'm glad they're helping you in some small way!
Can you make a video on how to build up intros, verse and chorus base on a riff or chord progressions that you made?
Sure, I'll see what I can do!
I’d love to see your guitar collection honestly
Eh, it's not all that interesting honestly, haha.

@@rivalmjd8541 They're all pretty decent. The strats are probably the best out of all the ones I've tried.
You had me at Bloc Party
I have so much to learn from you 💙
Thanks for your support!
Hi how are you rock on dude l am learning to play guitar basic power chords you are a perfect guitarist.
Haha thanks so much! I'd say I'm average at best. Good luck with learning guitar!
love the info and that atticus shirt!

SPANISH LOVE SONGS MENTIONED
I hear so much Polar Bear Club in Spanish Love Songs. A song like Buffalo Buffalo could have come off any PBC album.

1:25 what's the song in that? I'm a new person to the punk genre....
Oh it's something I wrote for my 'How To Write A NOFX Song' video.
What DAW are you using
Reason for recording and Reaper for mixing 👍

2:57 sounds familar.is it a song?
It's just a short example I wrote - though I've used it in a previous video. Maybe that's where the familiarity comes from?

So punk died in the 70s for you? Cool story bro.
okay
