  • ☀️ Welcome! ☀️ Do you have a plan? Do you even NEED a plan? Do you have too many scraps? 🙀 🧵 ? I really like sewing with scraps! Sometimes I even enjoy CRUMBS (gasp) ! I checked my scrap bin🗑 and I had a LOT of of strips this go-around. Join me as I got into this project! I had an idea of what I was going to do, and that idea changed a FEW times, with an end result of a stunning scrappy quilt! ❤️. From Scraps! ♻️
    THIS IS A GREAT BEGINNER PROJECT WITH ALMOST NO MEASURING, ALMOST NO TRIMMING! I hope you use this idea to have some FUN with your scraps! This quilt top finished to about 65 inches by 66 inches. ⏰ MY TOTAL PROJECT TIME ABOUT 12 HOURS. ⏰

    The thread cutter on your sewing machine is definitely a blessing, isn't it? Somewhere in the bunkhouse I have a whole box of starts of this braid - - but, I really am going to have to work this project ... Your adventure is quite fascinating.
    I really appreciate when you tell us about the amount of time you spent making this braided quilt top. You did a lot of sorting, and let us know what and why you were doing the sorting ... I am thinking that from you learned doing this project, your next braided quilt will take a good bit less time .. so, you have saved those of us that will try this project will have less learning curve. That is GREAT!

    I have just re-watched this video on television, and I think that I have neglected to tell you that you must be the queen of the smallest workspace I have ever seen. You have a NUMBER of practices that scrap quilters would do well to follow. I haven't had a handful of scraps in a few decades ... I commend you for taking care of business as it happens. It is a concept that seems to have escaped my abilities ... but I keep being encouraged that with diligence and perseverance my quilting/craft footprint on the ranch will be reduced. I just had to stop by and let you know that I really do enjoy your work and thought process. I also would like to know how much white sashing you had left over ... natural feminine nosiness, I guess! LOL

      Thanks so much, Mary! ☀️❤️ Yes my space is very small for sure. But it works. Let's see, that was the Kona Snow, and I think I had just a small amount left. It went into the scrap bin (of course! haha) . I sometimes cut it very close on having enough sashing. ✂️🧵

      @@sunbeamfabricart my sewing ability started in a clothing factory ... I rarely know how to do anything in less than a hundred (or at least more than I need) .... I totally understand not knowing how much you are using, because with scrap quilts, there are always more scraps somewhere! I was glad that you had enough left. Life's challenges, such as running out before one expects are what makes life less boring! I have to say, though .... if I had not had a 60x 40 not shop to bury my stash in, I would not have been buried in scraps, fabric, and sewing machines! I admire your control - - makes better sense than what I have done

    I like the idea and how you realized it. And the way you explain every details very simply : how you began, then decide to sort your pieces in different ways, then count them before sewing... Very interesting to see how your project goes on. Love the small patches instead of undoe, they give extra shape. One of the most pleasant and interesting tutorial I've ever seen about patchwork. • @sunbeamfabricart
      @sunbeamfabricart  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you! And yes, you could. ☀️❤️. But if it makes more sense to your brain just use all the same width and length. No rules! ♻️✂️. My widths ranged from 1 inch to 2.5 inches. I did try to get pairs somewhat close to the same width, but I did not measure anything. In one case I put a wide dark on one side, paired with 2 skinny darks on the other side.

      Thanks! ☀️. The widths I used were between 2 and 2.75 " I am guessing. I didn't use super skinny widths. I fully expected wonky bowing, but I guess it all evened out in the end.
