Cars can start in -30 without an issue. The reason for that plug is to deicing windows and warming up the engine. This helps fuel consumption and a quick start.

Always clean the windows before driving.

Also if you do drive on countryside you should be prepared to not have such places to charge the car with so have atleast wires to charge the battery with. Also when you do stop the car you should put the windshield wipers up so when you do go back on the road they ain't stuck to your car windshield easier to scrape also when you've set them up. Take in consideration the increased braking distance and the varying road conditions and you'll do fine.

Cars do not recharge from that plug :D It's for heating the engine and to provide power for interior air heater. The battery is not flat in the winter, the oil in the engine is sluggy because it's cold. Also we Finns do not have those outlets everywhere, they're for residents or whoever owns that parking spot.

Hello! We are driving our car from Germany to Finland in February (We will be driving to the kakslauttanen arctic resort & the santa village in Rovaniemi). Our car does not have a plug-in at the front of the car like what is shown in your video. Is there something we should do to prepare for that issue as our can does not have the plug-in?

You don’t necessarily need it, it’s just convenient. But you can also start your car and let it “heat up” for some time.

Great video. Now what about the tires? And I cannot distinguish where the road is with all the snow.
P.S. I have never experienced snow.

Hehe you will see the road, they also clear the road all the time 😉
What exactly do you want to know about the tires?
It’s much easier than you think. The speed is important , in Lapland are a lot of reindeers (also on the road) and in winter you have ice on the road and snow. So it’s dangerous to drive fast and then break.
Are you visiting Finland soon? 😍

@@SecretTravelGuide What kind of tires to use?
What speed is used on highway and in cities?
      Maybe considering to live there.

    • @SecretTravelGuide
      @SecretTravelGuide  3 роки тому

Speed limit is 50km/hrs in cities and 80km/h outside cities. Highways are 100-120km/h depending on season (summer vs winter) and conditions.
As far as I know, do you have winter and summer tires. So you change the tires for winter. Which exact winter tires you normally buy I don’t know, questions for car mechanics 😬🤷‍♀️😅

@@moviesync3131 Winter tires. Studded tires are the best, but non-studded nordic friction tires are also used.

Wow, nice video! I am going to Rovaniemi in December,2021, and then I am going to Ruka on December 31st, 2021. Is the highway safe? I am traveling with my wife and kid, and I really am concerned about if something happens, as the car stoping working, how to deal with at -20… tips about what to do and what to carry?
