I agree with the layers but I prefer to wear sweaters not zipped vest less metal I have on me better), I will wear the base layer than the mid-layer another sweater maybe with half a zip in front and my third choice would be a button vest or jacket. For my neck I wear a buff or neck gaiter, for my legs I wear a base layer made of wool (thick one) than a pair of pants made of down and that should be enough for me, two pairs of socks one a liner second one a thick pair of wool socks and my winter boots. I will also have a linen pair of gloves and big mittens doesn't matter what brand name just good enough to stand extreme cold (and I do have a few pairs) I also like to wear thick wool tuques over my baclava made of wool. I am from Canada and we do have extreme cold temperatures so I am use to this. Good video but don't like the last suit you put on find myself limited in my movements I always prefer a two piece, like I say to each his or her own.

I'll be at Lapland in the upcoming days, I was wondering if I can wear a cotton shirt (all my shirts are cotton unfortunately) for my 1st layer? Like my plan was A sleeve shirt, then a shirt(cotton), a fleece sweatshirt, then a jacket (cotton), then lastly a puffer jacket, do you think this will be enough?

Hi Marco, your first layer (which is connected to your skin) should not be cotton. If you sweat a bit cotton gets wet and this really cools down your body. I would highly recommend to wear wool (I love merino wool) as your first layer. As you second and middle layer cotton is not a problem then.
      Hope this helps :)

Marco invest in a few wool t-shirt or synthetic in case you don't like wool, cotton is not too friendly when you sweat and certainly not in cold weather. By fleece sweater or vest as a second layer and a jacket for your third layer. Shirts are for work or in front of the fire place after a full day of activities outside, get rid of your cotton slowly and replace them with useful material. Good luck even it this message was two years ago...lol
