I had the original Corsair Virtuoso SE with Wicked Cushions and loved them. Used them until the Audeze Maxwell's came out and love them, they kept getting better and better with firmware and software updates. The only issue I have with the Maxwell's is the wireless distance with the wireless dongle, fine in the computer room, the bathroom next to it, but will cut out in the kitchen. I have them connected to my iPhone 16 with bluetooth and can go anywhere in the house and never have a drop out. If my Maxwell's ever quit working I might look at these new Corsair Virtuoso Max headset, but I hope my Maxwell's never quit, I really love them! I just checked and I DO have Wicked Cushions on the Maxwells.
Its crazy to me that a $330 headset has a mic that sounds worse than the original Virtuoso. Hopefully, they can fix this with an update because, as it stands, it's disappointing and almost embarrassing.
It probably won't be fixed. The HS80 Max mic is still worse than the original HS80 even after the firmware update to improve the quality. These sound exactly like those, where they overemphasize the "ess" sounds and has artifacting. IDK if they are having to sacrifice mic quality to allow for the higher bitrate game audio on their recent headsets, but somehow the original HS80 is still their best wireless mic.
Lady's and gentle hands! After reviewing quite a few headsets, I think I can finally say we just found ourselves the one that makes it's mark. From using the SteelSeries Arctic 3 (2019 Edition all platform Gaming Headset) for quite some time now. I think this will be a massive upgrade, and the features and functions really played a part as my selling point. Nonetheless, I give credit where credit is due, thank you for collaboration in my search. You deciding in taking your time to make these very entertaining, high quality and helpful/useful content. You are appreciated and I really appreciate you! :) Enough yapping time to place this order!
Are you really gonna get this headset? Some say it has volume bugs and that iCUE also has some bugs. It doesnt even have a wired option. If you are gonna get this headset, could you say if it sounds good or bad on some games or music?
If Corsair would’ve made this headsets mic quality like the HS80, these would’ve been better. All in all these seem like a worthy upgrade from my virtuoso XTs if I don’t go with astros.
I just got these to test compared to my XTs these sound way better but feel way worse. These pads are garbage. Comfort has gone way down. Sadly going to return mine until 3rd party pads come out.
How the hell can the mic on the much cheaper HS80 (Max) sound so much better than the one on the Virtuoso Max? How can that be? It's even the same company. When will we finally get a reasonable, consistent and good microphone quality? Why are there so many fluctuations here? In 2023 the HS80 has great microphone quality for a wireless headset and in 2024 the Virtuoso Max is a complete disappointment again? HOW CAN THAT BE?
So you pay 330 bucks for: bad comfort especially unbearable after an hour with glasses, bad mic, garbage sidetone, And a meh out of box sound that only gets good with EQ/Atmos??? And it somehow still one of your favorite? I dont get it. Normally reviewers should tear corsair a new one for something like that for 330 bucks
Mainly play on PS5 & PC. What headset should I go for If I prioritize a good mic & simultaneous Bluetooth? Astro A50x, ASUS ROG Delta II or Razer Blackshark V2 Pro?
Either Audeze Maxwell or Turtle Beach Stealth Pro (remember, regardless of which set you get, you gotta get a pair of Wicked Cushions Freeze Pads for them)

Does this fix the disconnecting issue I had with my XT's? I got a new tower and all it did was constantly disconnect even with constant software updates. Sucks because i did love them, too. Forced to switch due to issues with them and replacing them twice
I've been using Corsair for 7 years now, had the void pro, void elite, now using Virtuoso SE, I tried to use the new version Virtuoso Pro XT, but the biggest problem for me is because with Virtuoso Pro XT you have to use Dolby Atmos instead of the Corsair ICue Surround Tunner, and it's just bad, the surround with Dolby Atmos is terrible, I got the headset and in 2 days I just refunded, got another Virtuoso SE. I really wanna try this Virtuoso Max but if it's like Virtuoso Pro XT then I'll pass again.
You should take a look at the new Alienware headset aswell! I absolutely love my pair, and to me they sound better than the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. The Alienwares are the most comfortable headset i've ever worn (the only headset that came close, but imo are still not as comfortable are the Hyper x Cloud 2). The Turtle Beach Stealth Pros had so many software issues, that i had to send them back 2 times, and didn't wanna give them a third chance.
