Wonderful episode! I love your cozy new Felix -- I need to dig mine out and knit the sleeves (it got too hot to work on over the summer and went into time-out). And thanks for reminding me about the Birds and Ships pattern! I'm going to put together a bunch of project bundles (pattern + yarn + needles) to have ready to go over the next couple of months -- we do a lot of traveling over the holiday season and the hardest part of getting ready to hit the road is packing my knitting. I'm trying to remove that particular source of stress and set myself up for success. Lots of kid knits, hats, cowls, and easy shawls.

Love your pressed flowers hat. I made my first colorwork (fair isle) hat a couple of years ago. The yarn I used was too light weight. The stitches looked sloppy. I should have double up the yarn. I felted it by first giving it a soak and then put it in the dryer with a few towels. I checked it every 5-10 minutes. I was super happy with the result. The felting was very even.

As always I enjoy your podcast. The more you share about yourself the more I realize we have a lot in common. Although I’m a fair number of years older 🙄. I am a retired RN and a friend and I have a prayer shawl ministry at our church. Not only do we make the shawls but also hats and scarves. Some go to the cancer center and some to another local ministry. ❤
My favourite knits are for toddlers so enjoyed making quick garments. Oh my goodness your shawl is so beautiful with those colors of Christmas. I love your hat and I hope you get it sorted by felting.
LisaR :Hi :) Pressed Flowers hat ❤! Gave you two relieved. "Thumbs up " when you said " Thinking Ill have more control if I hand felt it.." Since it's a smaller project ( compared to sweater , shawls:)...& bc there's the floral component- I ve had much happier outcome with hand felting hats , mitts etc. The front loader's aren't felting friendly ( ask my 6ft triangle loom shawl - # 3inthickdinner napkin :/ I like using One or two bamboo placemats ( dollar store ) or small bubble wrap to lay object in with the hot soapy water .. roll up and use rolling pin action ( flip & change angle , roll a bit more - until the result looks good . Thank you for sharing the project - I want to do one after PF shawl . You really helped me be aware ,saving me time ❤

But I haven’t started it yet. I’m not sure I ever mentioned my mom’s prayer shawl she received as a patient in rehab. She adored it, wore it around her shoulders and on her lap daily. She so loved the sentiment behind it. After she passed away, I inherited the shawl and find great comfort in throwing it around my shoulders or even on the back of my chair and leaning against it. I do hope that those fortunate enough to receive one from you ladies love it as much as we have loved ours. That was in 2005, by the way…and it still gives comfort. Love seeing you. I'm using the Re-Spun yarn by Lionbrand for the first time too. I'm using the color Aspen to knit our Shepard a Botanical Yoke Dog Sweater by Purl Soho. Hi Judith! I'm glad to hear you like it. I tried to get more but it seems that they're discontinuing it or something. I was able to get two skeins of two other colors on sale for $3.29 a skein which is a steal, but I couldn't get any more of the cider or any of the other colors they had previously.

I knit my pressed flower hat out of fingering for the main color and sport for the contrast and it is really big. I like the hat pattern but I'd go down a couple needle sizes next time.

Hello! I do it the same for any project whether wool or acrylic. I usually make a little knot and then weave in the end in multiple directions. I'm a little paranoid of the end working it's way out, which is definitely more likely to happen with acrylic.

If you can raise the lights up to 2 meters and then have them angle down, then they should not reflect in your glasses. I hope it helps. Otherwise next time film how they are positioned so I can give better advice. ☺️

It doesn’t help that I have about 6 wips that need to be finished. I seem to pick up projects as the mood strikes. As always I enjoy your podcast. The more you share about yourself the more I realize we have a lot in common. Although I’m a fair number of years older 🙄. I am a retired RN and a friend and I have a prayer shawl ministry at our church. Not only do we make the shawls but also hats and scarves. Some go to the cancer center and some to another local ministry. ❤

LisaR :Hi :) Pressed Flowers hat ❤! Gave you two relieved. "Thumbs up " when you said " Thinking Ill have more control if I hand felt it.." Since it's a smaller project ( compared to sweater , shawls:)...& bc there's the floral component- I ve had much happier outcome with hand felting hats , mitts etc. The front loader's aren't felting friendly ( ask my 6ft triangle loom shawl - # 3inthickdinner napkin :/ I like using
One or two bamboo placemats ( dollar store ) or small bubble wrap to lay object in with the hot soapy water .. roll up and use rolling pin action ( flip & change angle , roll a bit more - until the result looks good . Thank you for sharing the project - I want to do one after PF shawl . You really helped me be aware ,saving me time ❤

I’m excited for vlogmas from you this year. I get so happy seeing you and meeting your family again. I have the yarn from Lion Brand Jeans to knit the autumn league pullover. But I haven’t started it yet. I’m not sure I ever mentioned my mom’s prayer shawl she received as a patient in rehab. She adored it, wore it around her shoulders and on her lap daily. She so loved the sentiment behind it. After she passed away, I inherited the shawl and find great comfort in throwing it around my shoulders or even on the back of my chair and leaning against it. I do hope that those fortunate enough to receive one from you ladies love it as much as we have loved ours. That was in 2005, by the way…and it still gives comfort. Love seeing you. I'm using the Re-Spun yarn by Lionbrand for the first time too. I'm using the color Aspen to knit our Shepard a Botanical Yoke Dog Sweater by Purl Soho. Hi Judith! I'm glad to hear you like it. I tried to get more but it seems that they're discontinuing it or something. I was able to get two skeins of two other colors on sale for $3.29 a skein which is a steal, but I couldn't get any more of the cider or any of the other colors they had previously.

I knit my pressed flower hat out of fingering for the main color and sport for the contrast and it is really big. I like the hat pattern but I'd go down a couple needle sizes next time.

I use a lot of acrylic yarn for knitting. What is your preferred method to weave in ends for acrylic yarn projects?
Hello! I do it the same for any project whether wool or acrylic. I usually make a little knot and then weave in the end in multiple directions. I'm a little paranoid of the end working it's way out, which is definitely more likely to happen with acrylic.

If you can raise the lights up to 2 meters and then have them angle down, then they should not reflect in your glasses. I hope it helps. Otherwise next time film how they are positioned so I can give better advice. ☺️
