God, Patrick Page's voice is so powerful. He's so great for the role. Anyone else think it would be awesome to listen to an audio book read by Patrick? 😂
I've gotta say that every single one of these singers blew me away, they harmonized so perfectly with everyone and gave me chills. Anaïs Mitchell is absolutely brilliant and this show has honestly moved me, it's like nothing I've ever seen before... especially this song. I really hope to see the show one day!
Anais Mitchell is incredible. I can’t believe how far this musical has come in the last few years, I have very fond memories of dancing around the kitchen to the original album with my partner, it’s so amazing to see it travel all the way to the National Theatre! Such an amazing cast, too :’-)
The show is utterly unique. It has so many layers and messages. I saw it last week and it was a work of art! Brilliantly directed. I just found the 2nd act a little drawn out - maybe condensing it by 10 minutes or so. I am sure there will be slight changes before it hits Broadway. I am wondering where they will find a thereat like the Olivier with its sensational open stage to perform the work
I remember when I was so sad that Nabiyah wasn't returning as Eurydice, and then I saw this clip and said to myself, "Okay, but it looks like we're in very good hands regardless."
That’s not entirely true as in the actual show she stands next to/a little behind and to the side of Hades rather than with the workers during this song! (She does sing along with everyone else, true, but with much less conviction than the workers) I think this video was probably just a singing rehearsal and doesn’t really reflect the actual staging/blocking of the scene very accurately :)
Anäis Mitchell is brilliant also I love Amber Gray and Patrick Page and Persephone is number two dreamrole. Also I love the eco feminist message of this show it’s great in this political climate and very relevant. I also love Hades and Persephone.
I really hope this show comes to Australia, because I want to see it so badly. The soundtrack is something I regularly listen to while doing different things, whether that be chores or animation, and its just so beautiful, well written, well sung and such a bop!
We're coming with my aunt from Finland to London just to see this musical we both have loved for a really long time and we're REALLY excited to see Hadestown on live!!!
The political discourse about building a war existed long before trump was ever born. This talk of separation has left traumas upon the border community long before it enters mainstream American discourse. If you would just pay a little more attention, the rise of trump is predictable and could have been prevented
@Meow Meow - he really hasn't though. Most of the few things people like to try and attribute to him, including the employment rate, are things that were already at the current level or trending the same way since Obama was in office. Trump doesn't get credit because the unemployment rate that was dropping 6 years in a row dropped at the same rate for a 7th.
That’s art according to Aristotle “ it should be written under the rule of probability.” That’s why art is better than reality. I agree it is creepy because they actually met !
Does anybody else notice the way Patrick says ' And the war is never won'? The way he hits 'war' makes it sound like he's about to say 'wall' but changes right in the middle. Like he's going to tell his workers that the wall will never be finished but changes midstream. I really hope that that was on purpose.
This is why I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE Shows broadway soooo much you get a galance into reherals and the backing of favvv songs.. The guys who do this songs on the shows ......... This song drives me crazy because of the deep deep voice and the lyrics mine last year in Cleveland made me be like DADDY YESSS WHAT CAN I DOO YESSSSSSSSSSS
I feel ya, Hades is actually one of the least unsympathetic male gods of Greek myth. But I do like that he gets some characterisarion beyond 'evil hell man' even when he's the villain in Hadestown.
@@starcrash-ash6061 You have a good point, this is actually one of the least evil versions of Hades that I have seen so far. It's just that I'm tired of always seeing him been the bad guy when other gods did way more awful things.
@@theravioli899 Rick Riordan kind of gets it right in his Percy Jackson and his Heroes of Olympus book series. In those books Hades is a bit bitter and a bit dramatic, but never the Big Bad. He even complains about how people are always suspicious of him when he's completely innocent.
Actually I feel like this musical (even if it goes slightly away from mythology) does a good job at showing the true Hades and how he was a good person that turned evil from greed. Still,I agree with you
@@CynicalCharmer Yaya ik, it was just sort of a joke because the song is about them building a wall and such. And anyway, I absolutely adore this song, I think it's beautiful. It's art.
Alex TheGreat Oh I’m not saying it isn’t relevant, I just think it’s important to distinguish these days. Hamfisted Trump metaphors are in everything these days, and it takes enjoyment out of a lot. Hades however, as a character, is complex and extremely engaging in the show. Trump is...well, Trump may do what he says he’ll do, but it makes him all the more two-dimensional.

Oh, gosh, yes!!!
We got a podcast ;)

It just blows my mind that she wrote this in like 2006. I can't believe she basically told the future..

The off broadway version always has a place in my heart but goodness I will not ever put either version down. I’m so glad it got it’s chance
This is the first time I've heard Eva as Eurydice! She's fantastic!!
I remember when I was so sad that Nabiyah wasn't returning as Eurydice, and then I saw this clip and said to myself, "Okay, but it looks like we're in very good hands regardless."
New favourite musical anyone?
Patrick Page, never stop being Hades so that when I die I can meet you in the Underworld
It has a whole other meaning now that ik that presephone is one of the crowed.

"I've been playing that song for years and years and never expected it to feel new again."
Amber Gray (Grey?). Her face is so beautiful wise knowing passionate life lived bold no apologies. I love this woman!!

The fact that this song is so relevant right now actually sends chills all over my body. It's frightening.
This version, in this giant hall, is even more haunting because of the echo and the lack of instrumental backing. Absolutely breathtaking.
I'm sad that Eurydice's solo was cut in the cast album tho 😭

Same!! I’m travelling from Denmark with some friends to see it in January and I can’t wait!!
I'll be there from Sweden on the last day! :D
Patrick Page singing this live at Walter Kerr is CHILLING. He’s so talented.
The creepiest part of this song is the fact it's made years before Trump was even thinking about being President

I'm seeing this show on their closing night before broadway and wOW I'm so excited!!!

Damn! I never thought of that! That's really clever.
I love this song with so much passion it’s unbelievable
My favorite Hadestown song
1:36 for the most iconic part of this video
My god I saw their production last night and they blew me away
Saw it last night and I can't believe how much I love it. I sincerely hope they release a London cast recording.
Love that Patrick Page is just low key screaming/belting at everyone haha its the best
BEAUTIFUL i cant wait to see it in jan!
I got so many chills with those harmonies!!!
Eva is so amazing!!! I so hope she comes with the show to broadway
Just saw this show on Broadway last weekend and was worth every cent to see. Cast & music is something else, specially this song.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED FOR ANYTHING IN MY LIFE. I cannot wait to see this!!!!
Patrick Page, and Andre de Shields steal this show hands down. Saw it last night at the National theater and the atmosphere was incredible!

Omg I had no idea this was on at the national before going to broadway! I wish I could’ve seen it
This song is so chilling with what’s happening in America now.
Mannn love hadestown
watching this for the first time back in november i immediately knew that eva would be perfect for this
EVA IS EURYDICE?!?! Internally screaming
The one singer in the back wearing red with long hair looks like Hozier
#goosebumbs 😯
Holy hell I'm so excited
this video shakes me to my core in the best way
#HadestownfortheTony
Life imitates art...
I really want to see this. I just hope it goes on tour since tickets are rare and extoutounute now in the uk
Andre sporting the under armor shirt with a blazer. Lmao i love it
"Immigrants we get the job done"
Wish I could go see this show :(
Patrick has a godly voice 😩
I love Eva Noblezadas hair
Is it weird that I find Amber Gray singularly striking? I don't know that I would call her attractive, but she has an unusual physical beauty.
Not really, I do too. In this video though I feel like she really acts the song and sings with more intensity than the other people.
Damn, everything Rachel and Anais say about the song just make me go "oof". Looking at you America.
I want to see this musical so bad but I live in Israel 😭😭😭
You can just see the real-life version in Israel! No shortage of wall-building there.
Sax Panther what wall building?
Wow Eva having a short solo in the song is hitting different... ummm I am... I mean I kinda like it...
Andreas wearing a blazer and an underarmor/exercise top is sending me idk why lol
lol 0:40 andre's under armor shirl XD
I really like the songs of this musical but I hate when Hades is portrayed as an evil trickster or the greek version of Satan.

Yeah, it doesn't feel like a clever twist on a character like in Wicked for example, it feels more like a cliche at this point.

Release the proshot you cowards
Why can't people keep politics out of entertainment? Political junk aside it's a great song.
so basically, Hades is Trump

He was created long before Trump became what he is now, and they’re very different in show as well.
