Great stuff! Very clear presentation, thank you. Why do you need to dilute the denatured alcohol 50/50 with water though? You said it's important, but I was left wondering why. Cheers!
I'm getting ready to apply old masters water based polyurethane....never used it over oil based stain...it's a huge area....I'm really hoping it turns out great any pointers would be great
Ive used polycrilic over oil based stain without the 50/50 mix and you will get a small amount of color on your brush or whatever still turned out good but see the importance of this step now
Thank you very much for sharing your years of experience with us! I followed your method and it worked wonderfully.

Does this same rule apply with Varathane oil stains and Varathane water poly

How long do you let the stain dry before cleaning with alcohol?
12-18 hours, I believe he said
Thanks! @@VivaLasVegusNervana Missed that!
Great information!
The question is... WHY? Would you paint a boat, motorcycle or car with water based systems?
Because water-base dries faster? Think floors, doors, furniture, etc.
yo
Waterborne, not water based.
